The oil caught in the catch can would otherwise become engine sludge decreasing both performance and the life span of your motor.

So the purpose of a catch can is to stop the crankcase Blow by and pressure from being recycled back into the intake manifold, then this ends up coating the intake manifold Runners and sometimes the back of the valves on direct injection vehicles Basically it's a reservoir to stop that oil from being recirculated back into your engine and burned as fuel creating carbon deposits and just deposits on top of the piston and back of valves and intake manifold in general which is a less clean burn Pretty much all boosted applications in the Ford line really should be running a catch can and some of the V8s but until 2017 most of the Fords were Port injected and then they went to direct injection and port injection 17 and 18 The 2016 F150 with a 5.0 L has sequential port injection not direct injection so it's not as susceptible for issues like the direct and port injection for on like the 2017 and later F-150s and then I think 20/20 or 2021 the 5.0 L F150 ended up getting direct and port injection so basically just cleaned up the way the truck runs

There is no reason to have a oil catch can on a NA fuel injected motor. If it direct injected and turbo charged maybe but your application makes no logical sense. Get rid of it

There are many people who would disagree with you. All of the oil in that catch can is from the phenomena referred to as "blow by" and would otherwise become engine sludge if not safely contained in the catch can.

So this is where you would be incorrect on any application a oil catch can will actually help clean up the way the vehicle runs and make it more efficient now is it necessary? No but does it make it better? yes
