Dodo bird not extinct?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

New video footage suggests that dodos might not actually be extinct! Dodo birds were native only to the island of Mauritius and were believed to have become extinct in theb1600’s. This video explains the history of the dodo bird and also shows photos and drone footage reportedly of living dodos.

    Of course they're extinct. I watched this documentary detailing their demise. Apparently the dodos tried to store watermelons to last the entire ice age. But a rival pack of a giant sloth, saber tooth tiger, a mammoth and a baby stole their food supply. A fight between both parties happened and as a result the Dodos lost, leaving many dead. Including their last female. Tragic how cruel nature can be.

    I clicked on this video hoping to see a compelling analysis of the possibility of the Dodo's surviving. Instead I got to see the equivalent of the Loch Ness monster photo. And to top it all off it ends with the classic "you decide for yourself" quote, instead of showing us some actual research. I would love to see an actual Dodo. Hey, I really hope we could bring them back from extinction though cloning one day. But we must never let our judgement be influenced by wishful thinking. What does the drone video show us? We see what appears to be 3 birdlike creatures running in the distance. THAT'S IT! How does the possibility that they might be Dodo's even enter your mind when there are 10 000 of bird species alive today?

  • @sebastianjasper2308

    @sebastianjasper2308

    5 жыл бұрын

    So true! I gave this video a thumbs up, but I comlpetely agree with your thoughts. It came to my mind, that these coud be almost any kind of Rail (Rallidae). But it would have been nice, to limit the possible options: which flightless birds inhabit Mauritius still (Rallidae, Galliformes, or even some kind of Limicoli), and which of these look and behave like the 3 from the footage. And if there is no known bird present on the Island, which could be a fitting explanation, than we can assume, that Dodo's might still be alive Actually, I personaly want it to be true!

    @JZG I know. I do have a theory but it is pretty farfetched that shark species like the Megalodon could exist in the deepest areas of the ocean where they can survive better as there is enough small food to sustain them rather than larger ones. but I guess only exploration and time will tell.

    I keep different types of pigeons and doves. The interesting thing about pigeons & doves is all types “bob” their head when they walk. If you watch closely(and several times like I did), you can see their heads bobbing as they run. If this was fake, someone would have had to consider any type of pigeon or dove is going to bob their head forward and their body catch up as they walk. Very interesting footage that I believe could actually be real.

    Before the Big Bang, the universe was concentrated in a sphere, with infinite temperature and density. Inside was a plasma, a state of matter in which the nuclei and electrons are free to move chaotically, consisting of quarks and gluons. This era was very unstable and for this reason it found itself in an explosion. The phases following the explosion are divided into different "eras": the era of quantum age, the electroweak era, the era dominated by radiation, the era dominated by matter. Later various theories on the evolution of the universe were developed: - the universe has continued to expand to a certain extent and then it would have stopped its enlargement; - the speed at which the universe expands should be faced and the acceleration has reached 0 would have become negative leading to a Big Crunch and returning to the state of singularity; - the universe would have continued to expand infinitely. The last theory was proposed by Alan Guth in 1984 and was accepted by most scholars. The Big Bang theory was formulated by Alexander Friedmann in 1929 and completed by George Gamow in 1940. Originally everything was concentrated in a tiny point, with infinite density and gravity: time and space were zero and temperature it was in the order of billions of billions of degrees. What has been before remains for the moment a mystery, since the students do not advance hypotheses, considering the moments preceding an instant history as unknowable and inexplicable by any theory. The term "Big Bang" was coined by Fred Hoyle in 1949 during a radio program on the BBC and was used in a derogatory sense.

    Wow. I've never heard about this before. That footage looks totally real, and if it is, there's absolutely nothing else it could be. That's amazing. I recently saw some supposed footage of a thylocene in Australia, which also looks very clear, and they were thought to be extinct for a long time. I wonder how many supposedly extinct animals are out there.. It really makes sense, considering that, not only are animals difficult to find in remote locations as it is, but a creature that has nearly been driven to extinction is almost certainly going to put extra effort into not being found. I think that this makes it almost certain that a lot of species that are believed to be extinct still exist in remote locations all over the world..

They haven't been gone nearly as long as the dodo bird and had a much larger territory on the island of tazmania and mainland Australia and still haven't come back to the public light... IDK.. you have good points but I believe they're a couple of great animals that are gone for good cause of our stupidity...

Life really doesn't matter at all. I mean in the end the god level beings probably dont like being gods. Be happy ur the perfect life form and not a useless dodo bird.

Before the dark colonial age,the dodos had no predators and their food were all on the ground. So they didnt develop running feet. Besides,an animal that is never hunted does not get scared off. Im saying that its response to danger is not to escape.it pretty much cant anyway. Thats why they were so easy to kill. People coukd come pretty close up and just kill them. And no,there are no survivors.unless if those bitch dutch took our meat to their land. But that i seriously doubt. Else the dodo would not be a symbol of extinction

    Right To Censor before you start throwing out words like that, this is not the first time I've seen a bird run through a swamp or mud flat. I've tracked and chased many turkeys and guinea hens from Florida up to New York. So I do have an understanding about how ground based birds move through their environment. Also, just so no one can call you an idiot, my brother-in-law has a graduate degree in film editing and production, and I have personally asked him if there is anyway to distinguish current CGI from real life videos. He informed me that there is no digital watermark, and that the best people can make it absolutely seamless. Right To Censor Right To Censor Right To Censor And to high up...? A dodo was about a meter tall and weighed about 15 Kilos. If you look at this footage and guesstimate the size of the reeds based upon the size of these birds supposedly being a meter tall, then the reeds near it are about 3 meters tall. That would mean that you are probably hovering at about 25 meters. I own a drone, so figuring out relative sizes gets easier the more you view aerial footage. You can also guesstimate the relative distance they ran in the video. I figure at 7 or 8 meters. So tell me this, how was a meter tall (3 ft), 15 kilo (35 lb) animal not leave any tracks when running at speed through the mud flats? Nor does it seem to disturb any of the surface water under its feet for the several seconds of video. Also, the gait of this bird would have been about half a meter. That means that the trail through the water would have been 7 meters long and about half a meter wide. From the top of my hotel right now I can see the water moving under and away from the tires of a passing motorcycle, due to the torrential rain. And it's night dude. This vid, while on a dreary day is def clear enough to see if a 15 kilo, one meter tall, terrestrial bird, were running through the mud from the altitude the drone seeming was flying at. But I'm sure that because you apparently watch a lot of CGI, you will have a rebuttal based upon factual based conclusions.

    The reason given for the dodo going extinct was they were not afraid of anything because there were almost no predictors on the island. They lost their natural fear of being eaten, so I doubt the birds in the tourist video were dodos.

    Perhaps a small number of them did have the capacity to fear predators, and lay their eggs in locations well hidden from them.
