Ohtani's speed is often underrated because of his powerful HR and elite pitching. His speed not only turned it into a hit but also earned himself a RBI while it's a precious one run for the team as well.

The FarFlop Style is worthless. He is terrible at his job as far as building a team that consistently wins. However he manages like he has the A's payroll, and he makes coin for ownership. The JH Lee experiment is a already a near total and complete failure/embarrassment when you consider all the BS/hype and what he was brought here and paid to do. Believe me, the Giants are making hay on merch/broadcast rights across the pond. They keep making money even when they're built to lose

His name comes from the legend of a samurai (源 義経 Minamoto no Yoshitsune) who lived in Japan in the late 1100s. I can't explain it well, but there's a legend that this warrior fought enemies while jumping across ships during battles. The "平Hei" in Shohei's name comes from the name of his hometown. There's a place called (平泉Hiraizumi) in Iwate, and his name was inspired by it.

@@r.jguerra5526 You're welcome. Realistically, armor is heavy, so it would be difficult to fly over a ship, but since it's a legend, it can't be helped. In Ohtani's hometown of Iwate, Minamoto no Yoshitsune spent his later years. Unlike Ohtani, he was short in stature, but he was nimble like a monkey and supposedly had incredible jumping ability. From this legend, Ohtani's father wanted to use the character for "fly" (翔) in his son's name.

both teams are originally from New York in the 1880's, both moved to California in 1958 to secure their own markets instead of competing with the Yankees for fans. There's a very long history of playing against each other.

  • @TheRayInPV

Apparently it started when both teams were playing in NYC. Giants playing in the National League while the Dodgers played from the American League, they both went to the world series and Dodgers lost. Giant's fans were apparently more upper class while Dodgers fans were blue collar. So it's a combination of things then when they moved to California the rivalry continued. Someone else may have more info.

  • @samuelwyatt7846

They’re in the same division (National League West). This means they play each other more frequently than they will play other non-division teams, and they compete for the playoff seed given to the division leader. Add in a little Southern California vs Northern California pride, and it’s a good recipe for a rivalry.

If it wasn’t for the little bloop by Shohei at 4:54 , the giants would have won 4-3 in 9 innings.

I thought the giants were all about money ball! Why would they let a guy who’s hitting 429 against left-handers hit against a left hander! Wouldn’t the statistics tell them not to do that?

Seems like the opposing outfield is often what determines if the dodgers win or lose. When they're as exceptional as the jays' were during their series, dodgers lose. When they're this, dodgers win.

Hard to say the outfield matters when the Dodgers hit as many bombs as they do, though. Doesn't matter how good you are in the outfield if the ball sails over your head and beyond that fence!

@@Salsuero I don't believe that's strictly true. They homer often, but not always nor every day. The one thing they're really reliable with is hitting it into the outfield - the latest game is proof enough in my opinion

Do any Giants fans remember 6yrs ago the reasons that they told us Fahran Zahdi was brought here? To finally compete with LA? How has that worked out? One NL West crown in the Buster Posey year (not much to do with FarFlop) and then regardless SF was promptly eliminated in the ayoffs by LA. Besides that, only regression and down grafting of the franchise. He must be constantly telling ownership to just wait 2/3yrs, then you'll see how great I am. This franchise will continue to suffer and regress until he is fired. Needs to happen now, enough already
