Dodge Ram 1500 PCM problems No BUS FIXED! No Communication PCM/ECM replacement. Problem solved! PT 1
Do you have Dodge Ram 1500 PCM problems? This video will solve your Dodge Ram 1500 PCM problems/No BUS/No communication issues!
Welcome to Cody’s Auto Diagnostics and Programming on KZread!
This is Part 1 of our Dodge Ram Truck with computer/PCM/ECM problems with no communication diagnostic video.
Today we look at this Dodge Ram Truck, it was brought in and upon initial diagnostics I saw “No BUS” on the dash display, which lead me to believe that there was no communication with the computer/PCM/ECM .
I tested this no communication issue on this Dodge Ram Trucks computer/PCM/ECM , completing a power and ground test.
I verified PCI BUS signal to the computer/PCM/ECM , and this Dodge Ram Truck will be needing a computer/PCM/ECM , and to be VIN programmed.
TechAuthority isn’t needed for this process, and computer/PCM/ECM programming can be handled with a scan tool.
This diagnostic process works with many vehicles, such as no bus Dodge Durango, and even for no bus on Dodge Dakota and can help test a PCM failure.

@@codysautodiagnosticsprogra8706 It really kind of sucks these days, not too many younger guys or gals choosing this as a professional career...so it seems, which is why I wonder if maybe the KZread world will be able to encourage younger generations to see how great it can really be to do this for a living! When we were slinging tires and changing oil times were different, now every one expects to be top scale straight out the gate! It took me years to get to where I am at, lots and lots of studying, 7 day work weeks, and low paying job for hard work day in and day out! There really are a lot of us who want to help teach and mentor the apprentice types because it makes our time and effort throughout our careers worthwhile. Plus we learn from it and learn from our experiences with those who are just starting out! We need tech's badly, there is a huge labor shortage.

By the way had the motor replace and the mechanic saw the O2 sensor wires was burnt at the connector onto the wire harness and never told me till after I was told by the muffler shop that they was damaged so that might have shorted out unit took it back they rewired it but I don't think it's wired right burned out the first board then I replace it what the second board so I think the problem is it's not wired correctly and causing major problems told the mechanic shop to replace those wires or check their work I think that's why it's not running now. $700 wasted but they will get it back and fix it or give me back my money and I will go to the dealership. we need more guys like you.

I have an 02 Ram 1500, 5.9L gas with a crank, but no start issue. No communication with PCM, Security light on dash stays on steady. Mismatched vin is the only thing on the display.I'll check voltages and grounds tomorrow. I watched your video and you quickly were able to conclude the pcm was faulty. Nicely done and east to follow along. I was wondering if you verified off screen that the computer plugs male and female pins were all making good connections as I didn't see you do that in the video? It's been my experience that the female pins sometimes get checked with the standard DVOM probes by pushing the probe in and opens up the socket a tiny bit. When the male pin plug gets installed, there may now be a loose or intermittent situation.

Both keys has brand new batteries and the truck has a brand new battery. Sometimes when I go to the truck to get in it, my truck won't unlock. I use the pop out key to get in the truck and it won't start. The cluster panel is on and I'm not getting any messages saying "key not found" I took it to RAM and they said nothings wrong with it. But, it's happing two - three times a month. What do you suggest? 168,000 miles

Question for you sir. I have a 2005 grand cherokee 5.7. I had the transmission turbine replaced as well as the temp sensor I even out an oil cooler with a fan for the transmission. I use my Jeep then after turning it off, I want to restart it and it would stall after 10 seconds and I would get the "check gauges" and "over heat transmission". I used my computer and it shows "lost communication with ecm/pcm" I checked the wires and had some damaged I repaired them and even put heat resistant tape and protection since they are next to the exhaust. I really don't know 2hat to do at this point. Ant tips would help.

Good afternoon Cody, I checked your awesome video and I followed your testing procedures. I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2. The truck all of the sudden shut down and it just cranks. It’s got fuel but no spark. My cousin started throwing parts at it and replaced the fuel pump, crank position sensor and the ignition rotor. I verified it and indeed has no spark. Has no communication in the DLC. Gauges are pegged to the left and won’t move. I checked the following: -Verified powers to pins 2 & 22 -Verified grounds to pins 31 &32 -Checked the resistance on the ignition coil tested good -Checked the ASD and tested good -Verified 5 volt reference and it was good -Wasn’t able to test pin#30 for the signal coming out (no uscope) -I suspect a bad PCM Any recommendations?

Where did you get your replacement PCM? I had a failed PCM on a 97 ram (no bus comm and wasn't even providing a good 5V rail) and the replacement unit I got seems to be faulty as well (misfiring horribly and setting injector 7,8 performance codes). There are so many aftermarket vendor "rebuilders" out there, all of them claim to fully test the units before they send them out, but after this experience I don't really trust them.

I can't find a five-speed PCM is there anyone out there that can reprogram reflash or whatever, my automatic PCM and remove the automatic transmission control software out of it?... Or if they had a emulator that plugged into the automatic transmission plug would be fine too but finding such a thing probably isn't happening.... probably would have to build one....

Bonjour from New Caledonia (NC), little French island near Australia and New Zealand. (Please, do not take care of mistake) Perhaps, you will be able to help me Friend of me have a problem on a dodge ram 2500 from 2004 (not sure about year), bring to a few garage but still have the problem. A lot of problem before, but now. The truck crank and start, good idle, good acceleration but we have "no bus" message on the dashboard and no indication about temp.water, no rpm/mn, no fuel jauge etc... My friend send the dashboard in America for a control and idem for the PCM witch cost him a lot of money (the PCM still no good, 3 cylinders no good), its good with the second PCM. here, a garage took him 1200 USD to sent it to USA, repair and go back to NC, (the garage left the bill reparation in USA, it was only 250 USD). So, my friend have controled the continuity of the can bus (J1850, one wire) and all the can wires are ok. The other can low is the ground. Next week, we will try to find the problem. I'm a electrician, so i know what a voltage, current, resistance, frequency.... got multimeters, diag tools (delphi ds 150e (no good for this car) but also mini thinkcar pro and an Autel mk808z witch is good for this truck But i do not have scopemeter to control the can bus signal. I have to buy one, but at this time, do you think you could help us. What should i control ? What about the TPIM module ? How generate the canbus, the PCM ? Thankyou for helping us. Merci beaucoup 😊
