Unbelievable. I first tried jumping it as that’s what the other answers were for this problem but after I jumped it, it died again. So I tried this trick. It worked perfect. How is it that people figure this stuff out. It’s pure insanity. Thank you for your help.

Thank you very much it’s a very useful video, it worked on my 1500 today, their was a sensor of tires I keep on ignoring and when I turned it off it didn’t start again , you saved me today otherwise i was stuck at a gas station. It works on pretty much on all dodge vehicles i can say

After trying two times this solution works! Thanks a lot!. The only issue is now the doesn’t want to start normally, seem like I have to fo this trick every time. I really would like to know what is causing this issue. But anyhow, this workaround works fine!

Customer had run car hot and blew head gasket car huh and already went to fail safe mode so that's why this method worked

Thanks for the video. It worked for me. Just had to use some jumper cables after I did this. The battery was low. So it would not start at first. But after the jump it started right up

Contacts in push button sometimes misalign . Engine cracks but nothing else. Remove button with small screwdriver. Pull button out and insert keyfob. If it works the you have the source of the problem. Later put the button back in without depressing the brake. Then push on the brake pedal and push the button. It will magically start up as if nothing was wrong!

Thank you sir, fan kept staying on long after off and engine cooled. Tapped relay to turn off but battery was drained and went into limp mode. Jumped battery and did the 5 button press and whahla . Thanks for uploading video

My question in general is why the engineers that make theses car don't step up with the answers

Thats a good question..

I think the manufacturer wants us to take it to a dealer for the fix. Problem is the technician s haven't had any classes on issues that may arise on these models. I don't know if this is true but, I've read in automotive magazines where the dealerships won't pay for there employees to take these classes. They have to pay for it themselves.

Yes it’s a safety feature, it happens when we ignore sensor warnings , but it’s a very stupid feature. Hopefully it worked for you as well

Unfortunately, issue is ground connector going from negative ground to starter. Replace the wire to fix issue.

Same problem in a model year 2014 (2.4L). Not surprised to see the problem has continued into the 2018 model year vehicles. Wish I'd done more research before buying a Dodge.

So I have a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT and I went ahead and started it up "5 times" as you stated. It wouldn't start at first so I started it up again "5 times" as well as lightly tapping the accelerator and it started running. I'll try it again tomorrow morning. I'll keep you updated.

@@youngtraveon03 well, it works in warm days, but not during the cold weather. Although sometimes it does crack, but only when it's in the near 50°s if it's below that, it won't crank and so I have to use starting fluid in order for it to turn on.

FYI, this also works for an older Journey with a key fob instead of a start button. I turned the key to "start" 5 times, stepped on the brake, and it started right up.

I have a 2009 Dodge journey and I've been having problems with it starting to not starting that times and then there's always like a clicking noise when I turn the heater and AC on. Does the trick work with the turning the key five times and then pushing the brake?

@@FRANKOLANOTA I have the extended warranty and took mine into the dealer. They determined it was a problem with some sensor in the transmission and replaced the parts. Haven't had it happen since then. Hope this helps!

I have a 2009 SXT 6cyl. Same problem. I put the fob in the off position. Then turn the fob to acc, put the shifter into neutral and rock the shifter side to side in neutral. Then while still in neutral, I turn the fob all the way to the left, then all the way to the right to start it. Sigh ...

sometimes on the cluster it says cannot recognize key, try this, use the key fob itself to push the start button, direct contact with the button and fob can dismiss the message and it will start

I just got a 2011 journey same problem light on won’t start , start light go on brake should loosen , put it in N foot in brake and it will start !!!! Old trick my dad thought me , idk why I panicked today and I tried it and worked , I’ll try this guys way if it don’t start in the morning lol but if not put it in N and start

That's what I have to do too at times. Take out the fob, re-insert it, put the car in Neutral, rock the shifter right and left in N a time or to, then start it up. 2009 6 cyl AWD

Any idea what to do with the models that don't have a starter button? I have a 2010 Journey that uses a key fob, but same issue. All the lights, radio etc come on the battery itself isn't dead but when I turn nothing happens.

Happened to me in the parking lot, came across this video and got my car started (had to do it twice). Did you or anyone figure out the problem tho?

Thank you for this. It worked for me. The reason his happened is because It has a recall on the PCM. I would have spent thousands of dollars without this.

I'm in the same boat. Just got my Journey towed to my house. It shutdown on the road while driving. 2 people tried to give me a jump including the tow truck driver ...didn't work. Since its Saturday night, I can't get it looked at untill Monday.

its normally the battery in the fob is dead, always carry spares they are cheap and takes 1 minute to take apart the fob with no tools using the manual key in the fob to split it apart.How to overcome?..the fob has a small circuit board that is in the end of the fob, push the fob on the start button while pressing the brake and it will start, why do the batteries in this vehicle and porsches etc that have push button) dont last? Because unlike a fob that uses a key that only powers up when you press the button, it is always using power thats why you can open the doors with the fob in your pocket by touching the door handles or rear rubber button on the left on the liftgate. Id replace them every year.

Try starter it 5 times,without pressing the brake pedal than actually try starting it with the brake pedal

The remote has Neo battery the car has for the charge the battery is full full charge and still is not the started I try your track

This car got me stranded more times than any other car that I've ever had combined, complete POS.

Had this problem tried everything but if all else fails disconnect the battery cables and that should work

So a good friend of mine has a 2014 Journey that won't start back up after being driven long enough for it to get up to operating temperature & after she gets back in to start it after going into a store, it won't start, no click or anything. She's had the relays replaced, the starter replaced, the battery replaced, but it still has the same problem. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

My 2018 dodge journey just randomly wouldnt start for me this afternoon, full battery, system would engage when button is pushed but no crank. Check engine light was flashing. Completely ramdom shit. Then 5 mins later it started like nothing was wrong.

That's so crazy mine's a 2012 and I mean everything color and all is identical to mine your radio everything. My car refuses to start once the temperatures here go below zero yesterday was plus one started beautifully this morning 6:00 a.m. temperature dropped to minus 15 and it would not turn over I'm mind blowing I've watched a million videos nothing makes sense my battery is brand new almost everything in my car has been replaced. Yesterday because it finally started with the mild temperature I was able to put in gas line antifreeze and fill up my tank booted around town a minute to help circulate and still didn't start this morning so I'm lost please help

I wish that I had known about this trick. My Journey is only 2 months old. I wrote a scathing complaint to Chrysler Customer Service, because this problem has been around for years and they haven't corrected it. Shame on them.

Have to change the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) This Should Have Been A RECALL By Chrysler.

Hay you guys my coworkers had this same problem today and this video mite work for some people but it didn’t work for us! We tired everything and nothing seemed to work so I finally said for get it let me call dodge and see what els we could do so I call and you guys would never believe me when I say this but!!🤗🤗🤗 if you have a push to start and have this same problem just put your unlock key in your hand and push it on the start bottom🥰🥰thank me later and subscribe to my channel‼️‼️

instructions: 1. With brake not depressed, press start button until it is in the run position. 2. Then depress brake 3. Then gear shift should release, put it in nueyral. 4. Then push start button. Voila!

@@FRANKOLANOTA I have a 2014 that will not sync with the FOB. I have tried pushing the start button 5 times to clear the security feature. Another person claimed to start the engine by using unlocking, and locking the vehicle while inside the cabin but that doesn't work.
