The fact that the GTR was still able to win despite not having anything changed to it in nearly a decade speaks volume about how good this car is. And if we are gonna use the platform excuse for the demon, we can also bring up the fact the Demon has more HP and has drag slicks on. To be honest - I started watching this thinking the Demon would win all the races - the fact it didn't just prove GT-R is still an amazing car. Hopefully the R36 dream is real.

@@jchors2947 And how much of a step up is Demon from the 2009 SRT8? Even the non Nismo GT-R will give the Demon a run. Remember straight line driving with drag radials is what the Demon is all about. The GT-R is more about circuits. So for it to hang with the Demon on a drag strip is respectable. Having said that......The Demon is an exceptional machine no doubt. GT-R versus Demon is like Apple versus Orange. Both are delicious experiences when it comes to driving the. :)

@al This was filmed on a race track, not a drag strip. There is a big difference in terms of length and traction between these two! (Hence on a real drag strip AWD wouldn't be such an advantage as seen here. And on a full 1/4 the Demon could easily catch the R35, even if the GT-R had a better start.)

Dude this thing ran on slicks, and had the good good fuel in it. The GTR was just running OEM shit. It’s an automatic I don’t know what launching there is to do with an automatic. I’m not sure as to why it’s so slow. Manufacturer states faster 0-60 time for the Demon, but I guess not.

840 hp is a lot to manage with RWD!! The driver of the Demon seemed to perform pretty well👍🏽👍🏽 The first launch was especially great! If it was a 1/2 mile race, I’d pick the Demon w/o hesitation. However, the GTR is a monster coupled with AWD. Great race 👊🏽👊🏽

Completely love both of these cars. They each have their own pros and cons. The Demon was only built to showcase pure American muscle. Which it succeeded. The GTR is definitely more practical. While not being as fast as a Demon, it is damn close for having 240 hp less. Both insanely impressive automobiles.

Honestly why do people still try to compare? The GTR is a 3.8L V6 where as most cars they compare and think are faster such as the demon are V8. No comparison between the two and GTR is still faster. Cinematics well the demon was made for drag racing, aka a straight line... the wheels it comes with are drag wheels anyways so... plus da demon in dis video didn’t seem to have good starts at all... statistically the demon goes 0-60 in 2.3 seconds while the gtr has been rated at 2.7... but aswell it’s not just that determines who will win the race it’s mainly how the driver launches at the start and goes throughout the drag race... but on paper the demon should win with its acceleration and topspeed

@@dunlapchezburger3102 Yea both the GTR and the Demon is fun ..I have a 2017 GTR and its loads ooff fun ...I have a chnace to drive a hellcat Charger and it drove like a boat but the sound was invigorating..if i wanted a strictly drag car then Tesla Model S would beat everything out right now

I'm a big GT-R fan boy but even I know the Demon wins on a prepped surface. On the street surface the sophisticated AWD of the GT-R is untouchable.

I'd still take the Nismo all day, every day and twice on Sundays.

From my experience most people say that until they drive a Demon. Then they change their tune! I bet you'd enjoy it so much you'd take it in a heart beat! I do love the Nismo too though.

@rmp5s You're not the only one! I love the twisties and when I buy/build my cars I pic cars that can turn. However I did grow up with muscle cars and I know what they can do. Most people have their preferences but when they feel 840hp of raw displacement they quickly forget about their preferences. It is possible not to like it but I've never seen someone drive it an not love it.

That demon can't turn it can't stop and apparently it's not even that good at going in a straight line unless everything is perfect which is basically never in real life. When a purpose-built drag car loses to a car meant to go around turns in a drag race somebody needs to get their damn money back get a different car because they got ripped off.

That's a stock nismo with stock tires and regular has. But damn the GTR always has that explosive intial power from the drivetrain, its incomparable monster when compared to other cars.

Master Cain 1. The demon has drag radials. So that makes up some if not all the advantage of awd. 2. Dct doesn’t do much for the gtr considering the demon has one of the fastest shifting traditional autos. 3. You can’t say shit about twin turbos when the demon is supercharged.

Demons just put too much power to the tires. Unless you're running straight slicks, it just lights up the tires with zero traction. You can have all the horsepower that you want, but if the tires can't hold it what's the point.

Mike Wazowski That’s why high hp rwd cars will never impress me. Need a prepped track, let air out of the tires, a big burnout and even then you need a very skilled driver to get consistent runs. A gtr rolls up completely stock w/streetable tires and to me embarrasses a modified demon.

@@96stealth to a point. Huge hp cars have to ditch the awd system anyway when they mod a gtr to run 8s it's converted to rwd. Ever seen anything over 2000hp awd? Nope cause it's just to much power and will RIP apart. Awd is awesome the street and rwd is for big hp 6-7 sec drag cars

Pretty much only in this video..... If you watch any other Gtr vs Demon video you can see the Demon beating the Gtr 7 times out of 10. Its just the driver plus the Gtr somewhat has an advantage with its Awd system and the fact that its lighter.

Both are sick straight line cars, but the Demon falls apart at a race track, where the GTR truly shines.

Don’t forget the demon was also running 100 octane on special tires vs the GTR on regular tires and no special fuel. Ant the demon still couldn’t beat it.

All wheel drive vs rear wheel. All wheel drive had the advantage of keeping all the power to the ground. As much as I'd like to have seen the Demon smoke that GTR, the Nismo made more efficiant use of it's power.

Gtr didnt use launch control why?
