I absolutely hate it, when transmission fluid goes all over the place. I always install a transmission drain bolt, (on my own vehicles) and have never had a problem with leaks. It's nice to pull the bolt the night before and saves a lot of aggravation the next day. If your drain pan is starting to rust. You really don't have much choice, but to clean it up and paint it. The paint is cheap insurance against pan failure, due to rust. I'm not really a Dodge guy, and never knew that those transmissions come with 2 filters. I appreciated the video, and learned a lot. Thank you.

@@SVMSICE really the only thing you ever would need any sealant on would be the transmission pan and what to do with that is clean it inside and out with brake clean or in a parts washer make sure you have all old gasket material off wire wheel the flange use a little bit of yellow super weather strip adhesive on the pan and then put the gasket in place dropping bolts in the bolt holes so that they stay lined up in a very short matter of time the weather strip adhesive cures to a rubbery consistency keeping it in place and allowing you to very easily put the pan on without the gasket interfering with the operation

Sorry haven't been here for a while. I would recommend the yellow weatherstrip adhesive or second choice would be the black weatherstrip adhesive I haven't seen the grey the only brand I use is 3 m. I think the yellow seems to work the best

My grandson and I diagnosed my 04 Dakota hesitations and rough shifting as being the valve body and solenoid. We replaced them with refurbished units, also both filters, gasket and even a new pan. Unfortunately, we did not align the shifter the first time, had to pull it off and get that straight. We got the shifter working, but it is still really hesitant and almost feels like it won't move at all. We haven't done anything further. I'm afraid we could have an issue with the pump and/or the clutch rings. The original fluid did have very fine iron sludge on the magnet. I figured the amount was low enough to not worry and after 100k miles, could be normal. Anny ideas or should I bite the bullet and take it to a garage?

Worry? 2) 3:55 gearing, 15-16 mpg, 190k motor, weakest 6 I've had yet. Depends on the year model... 46 re 45 rhs dont have but like the old 727s you might look into adjusting the bands.. pulled 2 5.9s this week end, black Friday.. 50% the first engine had been out . And way too many bolts were not tightened. The flex plate had been replaced., this vehicle was a 4x4, all those brackets.. the problem with the flex plate... they didnt tighten them up at all I could twist them all with my figers, minor wear.. I'm guessing it may not of driven that long, it was side swiped, One thing I've noticed that to many people use air tools to drop the pan .. and to install, next time leave two bolts on both sides in a few threads then put gour drain pan under one hand hold the pan the other remove 2 bolts from one side lower gently, Then after the fluidd has emptied the pan , drop the other two bolts, lower withh caution, I have friends that lay cardboard down to catch the splater..

Now when you said u replaced the seal off camera did you really.....lol idk someone who does not fill a canister filter with fluid seems like the person who would not change a internal seal. Also didn't see a magnet anywhere. Maybe I'm old but I remember magnets being in there and wiping them clean.
