Dodge Challenger SRT 392 Review
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Smoking Tire hits the canyons in the new and mostly improved Dodge Challenger SRT 392. Are the recent updates to the Challenger enough to make it a true sports car? Or is it still just a luxury cruiser?

I am older , I love plus size women , cold beer, and and shotguns , and I love this f--kn car .
I could not a agree more with the assessment of it being the last true muscle cars, the mustang and Camaros are great cars, but they are sports cars, not muscle cars.

The Mustang was more of a real muscle car due to its live rear axle and more retro interior. Now if your talking about the 2015 then I agree
Omg best review ever. I lost track of the car completely with all the "she's a big girl" references. I was laughing to hard.

His girl - challenger comparisons were on point!
matt, that narration was one of the best reviews i've ever heard. your an excellent presenter and i hope all goes well in your surgery. to everyone at TST, great work once again!
That was one of the best burnouts ive ever seen this car do on a review show.. well done man ty.
"I sell blow!" LOL @ 3:17
@JoeRouMonsta Some people don't drive canyons, and they don't drive tracks. They just cruise around town to work and stuff, and for that, the Challenger is excellent.

And, they rule the dragstrips! The 392s in my area tear it up, plus they are still a beast on the street. Smiles per mile, and make great daily drivers as well.
I love Matt's reviews! It's better when he's actually doing the driving but really cool, fun, fair and honest review. Jim
Whenever I see a new smoking tired episode in my subscriptions it makes me happy! I love you guys!
get well matt, enjoyed watching you and rob during the bullrun, looks like a lot of fun! that guy in the r8 who wrecked was nuts. looking forward to more videos. thanks for providing quality content to us youtubers
Loved this video. Funny dude there. Liked the "references" you made in the video.
Reviews from you are always waaaaay better than motor trend, fifth gear, or top gear, (and probably a few more I left out). This review had me laughing as hard as it informed me, which was a lot! Subbed!
Great video even with you just doing the VoiceOver, appreciate the dedication through all the pain. Best of luck with the recovery.
Another great review, Matt. You continuously put out my favorite car reviews time and time again, and for that I say "Thank you." Also, I'm loving The Car Show so far!
loved the video as always. thx
Great job I am actually looking at a used one right now and this review really puts things in perspective to me about this car.
Good Luck with the surgery. Thanks for all the cool vids!
kick ass show have loved this show since it first started keep the vids comin, oh and I LOVE the challenger 392 thing is just badass
Thanks this vid helped me out a lot hope you recovered quick
Let's see how he talks about the 707hp & 650 ft-lbs of torque of a beast hellcat!

is the hellcat lighter in design as well
@Kpoole35
10 жыл бұрын
Depends on you're view towards design, but if you want to know it's weight? Then just 50 lbs lighter then, but that shouldn't be an issue when you have that much power, I mean it got a 11 second 1/4 mile for crying out loud.

TheSPARTANkp97 im sure that 50 lb decrease in weight did help, probably why they did it for the hellcat...maybe it can get lighter and have a faster time, don't know. I also don't like the fact they removed the fog lights on the hellcat. but other than that its a great car, great aura about it, I wisj hellcats came in other colors other than red
@Kpoole35

Yea if they added black race stripes on it I wouldn't mind the red that much

babloo1666 you could get it down to 3600lbs or so with a lot of aftermarket goodie, like lexann rear window, lexann windsheild, carbin fiber trunk lid, carbin fiber hood, carbin fiber fenders, rear seat delete, and aftermarket bumper supports.
@StaticFalconar I hurt my back for the first time in 2003 doing the Baja 1000 in the BCS-1 class. Didn't crash or anything, but 20 hours of spinal compressions wasn't a good thing. Had surgery then, and the same thing happened again from just too many cars/planes/bad hotel rooms while filming The Car Show. So I've now had the same surgery twice.
He’s talking about a BBW! BBWs are fun!
@bitumen83 you can order international shipping from your country off their web site
Dodge its the only one making muscle cra today...what do you spected

Mauricio Nuñez you do know that ford also makes muscle cars right they make muscle cars like the mustang gt and gt350 gt 350r gt 500 they have also the mustang cobra and Chevy also made muscle cars like the Camaro and corvette you don’t even know what was with Chevy and ford they were competing against being pony cars and mustang won but that doesn’t mean that Chevy couldn’t make cars anymore they still do it just that ford gets to put a horse on there car and that’s why the absolutely call it a mustang because it’s a horse

Thanks Matt, Hope you get well soon so we can see you behind those sick beast cars you get to drive. I really enjoy the smoking tire!
I wish you the best for your back surgery and I hope you have an extremely quick recovery! Great video as always Matt!! :)
Great to see ur back bro!!!! Hope u make a great recovery:)
Have a speedy recover Matt! Awesome show man!
That squirrel at 00:32 just had his little life flash before his eyes...
Hey Matt, 7 years I was in a bad bad car accident, beat up from top to tows, they had to operate everything in my body, knie, hip, back, neck,... my back came out perfect, so no worries, have patience, rest well, you'll be fine in a while! Thanks for all the cool car stuff over the years!!
@sabbathian you could easily keep them in one piece with this trunk, it's like a 70's caddy in there.
Good job on the review. This is the best one I have seen in a while. It delivers exactly what I was looking for, unlike the others that spend the whole time going over the interior.
Honestly, one of the best Smoking Tire reviews I've seen. Witty, to the point, funny, informative, boom. Well done! The Charger is one of the most beautiful cars on the road period. The only thing I would ever change is give it fatter rear tires. I've always been partial to a car that can handle but the way this thing looks with that Dodge Viper GTS paint job, I'd be willing to make some sacrifices.
@crashnshaman I said in the video "The challenger is the last true muscle car." If you want it to be a muscle car, leave it right as is. If you wanted to make it a Sports car, like the Mustang now is, you'd need to find a way to shave at least 500 pounds out of it, which just wouldn't happen without a total redesign.
great vid, i loved seeing the car and listening to your commentary
good luck on your back matt, keep doing what you're doing man
Those glasses instantly transform Matt into Shrek!
@Bansheeflyr These are the "greasewood" style with silver smoke lenses
Another great review! I'm still a Mustang guy, but I have mad respect for the Challenger. I just hope you're still doing okay after that surgery a few weeks back.
i laughed my ass off the whole time matt your reviews are awesome! :)
Great to see a new video, and hope your surgery goes well
Great content, and great review on a badass muscle car! Absolute blast to own and drive, 0 to jail in seconds! lol
Love your analogies man lol.
You will Love it! I love driving to work now!
more uploads please, great video btw
@iMatt928 The mounted camera is the Canon 5D Mark II with 28 MM prime "L" glass on an 8" heavy duty suction cup. We're getting triangulation units next week.
Really cool car! love the sound
thanks for posting this despite your obligations to the car show, keep rockin matt!
awesome review
Saw an older guy try and autocross one of these a few months back and failed miserably, the look on his face was priceless that everyone there beat his time.
@HaamSammich that's how you keep the car in control, how else are you supposed to keep the car from speeding up?
Great review and commentating!
This seriously is my favorite show. Matt...I hope you get well soon. You are a character my friend.
I think this has been matt's best review ever, i felt he covered a lot of ground nicely and made me want a challenger !! too bad i have a 350z ;) lol but also, thanks for putting in the exhaust sound through out the review, most other just blurr it out through out practically the whole segment
thanks for still putting up vids with the car show going on!
@nizmojoeblows yeah, but the challenger has a 6.4L V8 compared to your 5.4 (or 4.6), and is hard not to drive really fast. Generally when we test cars we observe far worse fuel economy than manufacturers claims, but in this car it was dead on.
Stumbled upon this again. Despite the back surgery changing the format a little, I think this is one of the best TST reviews. A literally lost my shit when I heard "except in white where they scream "I sell blow!". Well done.
@dieseldan420ca yes, probably, unless we're talking about a lightly used Z06.
Great review
I just put a 3 year lease down on one of these (all white though) and I am absolutely pumped to pick it up tomorrow. Vids will probably be on my channel of me geeking out and shit. But your review totally helped me out and I'd just like to say thanks man!
@marem19 Unfortunately, they haven't. It's going to be episode 12 or 13, at the end of the season.
Especially considering it's practically the only one that does so! I love the Challenger. I never get tired of seeing them on the road, and I don't see as many as I do Mustangs and Camaros, and I'm dying to drive one. It's my personal favorite out of the 3 and it doesn't really compete with the Mustang and Camaro considering they've really become sports cars. The Challenger has stayed true to American Muscle which is one of my favorite things about it.
hope you have a speedy recovery matt all the best
I love this video and what you say is true I like the fact that you kept it honest about the challenger thank you !!
Great honest review. Get well soon Matt!
@awdrifter3 that's because it's written and produced by me, and shot and edited by tom and thad, and we know exactly what you guys want to see, and what you want to know.
@dieseldan420ca the 2011 GT500 is great. But you're talking about mod-ability, which is pretty useless in that car unless you're running full slicks. Countless tests have shown that the 750 HP Shelby Super Snake is actually slower around a race course than the 550 HP stock GT500. The Mustang's chassis is very versatile, able to be a $23,000 rental car or a $55,000 Shelby no problem, but it simply can't put down much more power than comes with the stock GT500.
congrats on "The Car Show" Last week was my first time watching and i was like, "There's Matt!"
Amazing video mate! I totally love this car :) By the way, hope that your surgery went alright and you're back to business
Thanks a lot for the advice I actually bought a Header Orange SRT8 2012 Challenger just last month... I have to say its the only reason I wake up every morning.
Very true man... The 6.1 is still a beast, but trust me you can easily pull a 4.4 0-60 time in that 392 HEMI... No effort whatsoever. Such a good car... Thanks man... You too!
@atennisplayer I will ask around if they have any left
@bottomlayer Well, the whole new SRT line, Challenger, Charger, Grand Cherokee, and 300, all use the same 392 engine with 470/470. The only thing the other cars don't get is the badge.
Welcome back Matt! Good luck in the surgery! Good episode like always. Will there be a Charger or 300 392? If so, then either of those would be better than the Challenger 392, of not as good as the Magnum 392 they should be making.
Idk. I got 22.3 mpg on my 286 mile road trip from Virginia to Philly and I busted out a 4.54 0-60. The Camaro is super claustrophobic and the Mustang, even though I love up the the '14, it's been there done that.
@EatmyDust1311 No, a "lead slead" is when you chop the roof of a 1950's Mercury and fill in the panel gaps with lead. Whitewall tires, flame throwers, plush velvet, all that crap.
Nice to see thesmokingtire back up good work matt
I love the random roars of the V8 you stuck in there, great review and footage as usual. Btw, whats wrong with your back?
Amazing review matt, I like the car show but when you do your own car reviews they are SO MUCH BETTER
This is a great car show. Keep it up.
@rikwatson200 that's because I did this whole bit in voice-over instead of in the car like i usually do.
yoo man great review even out of the car.........hope u feel better man good luck with surgery.
hope your back gets better soon man!
@TheRogueSS Matt already tested the Charger SRT8 on The Car Show, and you can look forward to his review of the Chrysler 300 SRT8 in the February 2012 issue of the free online magazine "Road Lanes."
@RichardEllisxyz I would make the argument that a Trans-Am BOSS 302 with proper modern tires would beat the SRT8 around a track. And while I agree the Challenger pulls off the spirit and look of the original, I wish it were the size of the original. Park this one next to a '70 model and it looks like a minivan. And the interior room isn't even all that much different!
Great review, Matt. Get better soon, dude.
It's so freaking awesome how Matt's comments[the host of Smoking Tire, usually] are the only comments that are thumbed up, keep up the good stuff and your awesome humour, buddy!
love this review, sick car
ilove challengers amazing review subscribed!!
@crashnshaman A muscle car, by the classic definition, is big, heavy, and comfy, with a gigantic V8 under the hood that makes tons of noise but doesn't really make the car go all that fast. If that doesn't sound like the dodge challenger, I don't know what does. A sports car emphasizes light weight, handling, and making the experience of driving quickly on a canyon road or a track that much more pleasurable. Think Corvette, not Cobalt.
Love the look
@chopedandsectioned then how do you know its better?
@DevPack we prefer the 2011 GT500 as well.
You guys are UH-MAZING!!!!!!!
Fucking great review. I was never a challenger guy, but watching this completely changed my perspective of it. I love your vids man, by far one of the greatest hosts in the car scene. Keep it up #team#mat
I just saw this video now for the first time. I know I'm very late to the party, I just happen to come across it. I have to say, this is the greatest narrated car commercial I've ever heard. ps...do horrible horrible wonderful things to you.

I am late too... Have met her smaller younger sister a year ago (2020 GT AWD) and can just agree:-) With the V6 she is definitely a cruiser, not a muscle car, but still brings a lot of fun. Great look, great ride and in fact not completely slow (if you are not a racer).
ahhhh just test drove a challenger today..im in love
