Documentary - Santa Maria Assunta Church Bells - Serramonacesca (PE) ABRUZZO

Ойын-сауық

In the center of Serramonacesca, in the province of Pescara, is the mother church of Santa Maria Assunta. The current structure was built in 1841 with the help of furnishings probably recovered from the nearby abbey of San Liberatore, such as the lion leaning against the pilaster of the facade. The central portal is architraved and surmounted by a lunette. The two architraved side portals have stone frames decorated with rosettes. The salient façade, marked on the top by a cross and the statues of Sant'Antonio di Padova and San Liberatore, is made of stone and is divided into three vertical fields by pilasters with high bases. On the left side of the church is the mighty bell tower with a square plan and a pyramidal termination which houses 4 bells in its openings. On the right side there is the neo-Gothic chapel dedicated to Sant'Antonio. The parish church has a predominantly Romanesque style on the outside while the interior, divided into 3 naves, is in the late Baroque style. The central nave ends with the apse and the loggia for the choir. Above the choir loft stands the aedicule with the statue of Santa Maria Assunta and the representation of the eye of God inscribed in a sunburst. Some bands in the central nave tell the story of the building and one in particular shows the sentence taken from Genesis "Terribilis est locus iste". The elliptical cap on the pendentives of the presbytery is delimited by 4 golden angels who hold scrolls in their hands with inscriptions on the inside addressed to the Assumption of Mary into heaven. The counter-façade wall is enriched by the presence of the women's gallery with the pipe organ and paintings such as the woman of the Apocalypse. The side aisles, covered by caps on pendentives, end with the altars of San Liberatore and Sant'Antonio di Padova, of which the people of Serrese nourish a profound devotion.
The bell tower houses 4 bells of which only the 3 largest have the engine for the expanse of momentum.

I - MI3 - merged in 1910 by the Premiata Fonderia De Poli and is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. Height 105 cm and diameter 110 cm. It is enriched by decorations and ornaments, by the effigy of St. Anthony and by dedicative writings:
"WITH FAITH AND GENEREOSITY THE PEOPLE OF SERRAMONACESCA PARTICULARLY THE AMERICANS TO THE GLORIOUS PROTECTOR S. ANTONIO DA PADOVA TODAY THE EVE OF HIS FESTIVAL 12 JUNE 1910 SOLEMNLY AND WITH SOMMA LETIZIA DEDICATE AND OFFER" - DELL'INTONIO "TO HONOR PADUA AMERICAN PEOPLE OF SERRAMONACESCA COMMITTEE AND PROMOTER ANTONIO D'AVIERO DI DONATO TODAY 12 JUNE 1910 DID ".
The former church of San Rocco, located in Piazza del Popolo, is home to a tourist information point. It does not preserve religious elements with the exception of the square bell tower. It serves as a civic tower with the clock of the Fontana company in Milan and the 2 bells of the knocker in the wrought iron pinnacle. The largest was probably cast by the Mari di Salle and the small by the Cavadini. They play a Gb5 and a Db5 respectively.
The calls for the Holy Mass are repeated 3 times (45.30 and 15 minutes before). The festive sound is the expanse of II and III while the solemn sound is the expanse of I and II.
