Along with two brothers came the Flemish priest in 1104 Ailbertus to in the region which was called "red". Ailbertus was a member of the noble genus of Lords of Antoing at Tournai on the Scheldt. He asked the count of Saffenberg to the Ahr, Lord of the Red Castle, which stood on a hill above the Wormdal, to a piece of land. They wanted this piece to live as hermits to mine there. The request was granted and so began the history of the country of red. Castle as well as monastery then expressed their stamp on the further development of the local and regional environment. In the third year after his arrival, he built a small shrine of sten, the crypt, he then began along with Embrico, a bigger church building.
