I was eleven years old, & I too never stopped watching it during all these years. It makes me teary as I have watched it with my grandma who was Russian refugee. I am from Iran. All my mothers family loved watching it & those beautiful romantic eyes of Omar Sharif. No character was so built for him at the time. Beautiful memories. I am 68 now.

At 70 years young I still adore the Crystal 🧊Ice🧊 Palace in the Urals. Julie Christie has been one of my most favorite actresses to follow. Omar Sherif was devastatingly handsome and charming. Unquestionably a magnificent film, superb actors, David Lean an excellent director. I happen to live near the place where it was actually filmed. There is a placard in that very place showing how it was in the early 1960´s with some photos of the film set, the actors and the scenery which was built at thatb time. Nowadays there are lots of new buildings. However, I really enjoy visiting the area trying to identify the exact sites of every part of the set ( Zhivago´s house, the Kremlin walls, the tram route, etc.). One of my 5 favourite films of all time. The same can be said about the book written by B. Pasternak.

He also was in three more Lean films, but those three named epics were my favorites. Julie Christie as Lara looked in some scenes as if she could have been Peter O'Toole's twin sister, as he appeared as T.E. Lawrence. Loved Dr. Zhivago through and through. They don't make grand movies like this anymore!

I like a many 18 year olds in 1965 fell in love with Lara. The movie still moves me to this day- watched it again a month ago. Luckily for me I found my Lara 54 years ago ( still going strong). We still laugh every time I call her Lara and she calls me Yuri. Believe me when I say the film changed my outlook on life.

In Tito’s Yugoslavia Boris Pasternak was forbidden…..Lara’s song come first, than the movie and the novel…. In the beginning of the 90. I was visiting some relatives in London …. Luckily me ,I nearly bumped to Julie Christie… even more beautiful in the real life , you can see the real lady regardless of the outfit Her eyes, simple style, the way she was walking … I was literally staring at her, she gave me a warm smile 💐

Julie Christie is still amazingly beautiful for her age. Aged 56 I still think she is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, on the TV or in real life. Steiger had the looks of a thug but he was a brilliant actor, very underrated. Sharif was a bad tempered SOB in real life, but an absolute legend as a film star (and as a Bridge player).
