Exactly! And another thing that pisses me off is that there's no balance in these kinds of opinion Like, if you have a mild migraine and apply peppermint oil, since it's a really pungent herb, that will stimulate blood flow and help a little Does it make it a blood thinner that can save you from life-threatening conditions? Absolutely not, take your meds Like arnica gel for sore muscles, it's natural and it works but if you're experiencing calcification then you're gonna need much more than that😭 I wish there were more balance simply to avoid becoming collectively immune to most antibiotics and such, my mother's a nurse and she raised me like that Edit: Mike is also suggesting natural things at 6:01 so that makes me feel happier about my comment XD

0:25 my ex husband was driving and was wrongfully accused of a hit and run. The "good Samaritan" pulled his gun on my ex and shot 3 times into the car. None of them went completely through but there was one that, if it hadn't gotten caught by the back door hinge, it would've gone through the driver's side headrest. The person who actually committed the hit and run, to my knowledge, was never actually caught even though the suspected car (we found out it was the actual car that did it) was reported several times. But they did try to arrest my ex on a hit and run even though he wasn't even on the same portion of the road it was committed on. He was going the complete opposite direction.

It wasn’t on TikTok, but somebody once sent me a video about a Taiwanese ‘doctor’ endorsing and promoting the use of armpit compressions, instead of chest compressions and rescue breaths, in the case of somebody whose heart had stopped. I expressed doubt and she told me that he was actually a ‘very eminent doctor in Taiwan.’ I also expressed how very disappointed I was in her for spreading such nonsense and that was pretty much the end of our friendship. I ended up reporting this dangerous nonsense that was later making the rounds on social media too, to the local Heart Foundation Organization. Nothing angers me more than people who circulate idiotic ideas via the internet, disguising it as medical information.

Specifically responding to the left side under breast pain - I grew up in a hispanic household and my mom always told me that was caused by some trapped gas (basically I needed to burp or fart) - long story short I had pain similar to that for about 4 days and couldn't take a deep breath because of the pain. Urgent care said it was a muscle related issue and gave me muscle relaxers. A couple of hours later the pain was so intense that I went to the emergency room because I knew something else was wrong. After a contrast they found I had a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in my lung) and deduced that it was caused by the hormones in my birth control. Moral of the story is, trust your gut and advocate for yourself.

However, all of the steam for such a long period completely burned his throat and lungs (I believe, I'm not 100% sure) but this caused him to go into a coma and almost didn't make it, it took months of rehabilitation and he still isn't the same. I caught dysentery in South America once & totally see how people die from it. After 2 days I thought it was a definite possibility I could die. When I went to the hospital and they started me on a drip I could feel the life force coming back into me (despite still feeling like death). After a day the dehydration has a huge impact on you and there is nothing you can do to fix it bc when you drink it either triggers your body to throw it back up or you immediately run to the toilet because of diarrhea. You have about 10 seconds to get to a toilet when you feel diarrhea coming on. It’s that bad. Your guts gurgle like a waterfall and it’s so watery you can’t hold it in. Even thinking about it now is making me shudder. Edit: I caught c-diff from having to take antibiotics for a long stretch bc I was a carrier for strep. As bad as c-diff is I still had about a minute to make it to the toilet when I felt diarrhea coming on. The dysentery diarrhea was worse. The difference was dysentery weakens & your body fights it off (hopefully before dehydration kills you) while c-diff only gets worse and will kill you. I had to take 2 courses of phlagyl twice and it came back within a day then took vancomycin which thankfully cured it bc this was before they had the fecal transplant treatment. If it hadn’t worked I would’ve been in big trouble and probably died.

I like Dr. Mike's medical takes and I think his nutritional takes should be more informative like how there are good transfats and bad transfats. Good transfats are full of healthy cholesterol, buterate, fat soluble vitamins D, A, K, E, and other beneficial compounds. Comparing coconut oil, MCTs, grass fed red meat fat, butters, and milk fats to corn fed animal transfats, especially chicken and pork, is like comparing the health benefits of the carbs or sugars in common sugar vs carrots.

Blood pooled in his heart because it wasn’t pumping correctly and a small clot formed and made its way to his brain. Completely terrifying and I thank God that he made a full recovery. He didn’t have many deficits and the ones he did have were temporary. He also kept having silent seizures after his stroke but no one knew until he had a grand mal. They induced a coma to protect the brain and assess the damage done. It was a crazy and terrifying experience to say the least. He takes aspirin everyday but other then that no meds because it’s too expensive 😕

But regardless, my seizures have managed to make me forget everything I'm about to say and just can't speak. Ever since I've had my first... Definitely seizure, I've been that way. I guess it may occur more if she's had a seizure recently or plenty in the past. Grand mal seizures are a common reason since that can damage your brain a bit. Not only because of the seizure alone, but by falling somewhere hard or such. It's made it hard for me to speak, especially if I'm having that myclonic at the time.

Concerning precordial catch syndrome, I used to get this ALL THE TIME! Even now nearing middle age I still get it at least a few times a year. I'd get about a third of a breath and get hit by a stabbing pain and be unable to breathe in further. For me I found the best way to deal with it was to force the issue and breath in hard. I'd hit the 1/3rd mark and then as I passed it I would feel this intense pain(9-9.5 out of 10) and then a pop or snap and suddenly the pain would be gone. It was that or shallow breath for hours. I used to have to do this every other week in my 20's and even monthly in my 30's.

And just remember to still keep your mental peace and do some fun things once in a while. Apparently detached retina is a possibility when bungee jumping. Probably the primary reason I wouldn't want to try it, surpassing even my fear of heights.

Just love it that you are putting good info out there and teaching people what medical folks know. Very entertaining as well! Love it!

0:12 This is probably my biggest fear in driving. There's a lot of videos of these types of accidents and what freaks me out the most is the fact that it doesn't really seem like there's much you could really do outside of trying to avoid the object. Drive safe everyone.

OOHH Dr Mike, I have one! I'm an acute care SLP. Had a patient frequently coming back to the hospital for heart issues. Significant heart disease. Was ordered a "heart healthy diet" inpatient. The family was complaining about the diet and what was being delivered on the trays. I raised the tray and saw a very heart healthy, low cholesterol breakfast plate. Asked the family to elaborate why the food wasn't healthy. The family stated they read "lack of cholesterol in foods leads to Alzheimers", so they eat high cholesterol foods at home. Makes sense why this pt kept coming back to the hospital.... (I won't even dive into their reports that the pt wasn't receiving herbs and B12, which was causing "dys-fuh-jee-uh [dysphagia]). Some folks love Dr Google 🤦‍♀️

About pitting adema i've had it or some equivalent during my thrombosis in my leg I couldn't stop to play with this phenomenon (probably not the smartest move) By the way i don't cherish medics but i think you have a great attitude and i wish i would have met more doctors like you

I've been to acupuncture since the age of 10 (almost 26 now) mostly for colds and I've never heard of pricking to bleed. No, we put very thin needles into specific points and we generally don't bleed unless the needle moves (eg I made my brother laugh so hard the needles near his sinuses caused bleeding).

thank you so much for fighting the endless misinformation. i’ve been diagnosed with celiacs a year ago and it’s easy to believe anyone who says that something will help dramatically. you might even do it, not believing it works, but on the off chance it’ll do something positive you’ll try it. especially when your doctors don’t help like you need which has been my case, you become even more desperate and vulnerable.
