Doctor Doom’s Full Power: Doom Vol 2 Conclusion (Comics Explained)

Ойын-сауық

We are back with the conclusion to 2019's epic Doctor Doom series by Christopher Cantwell. Following a painful self-inflicted disaster on the Moon, Doctor Doom suddenly finds himself back on Earth…but an Earth he recognizes only from dreams and visions, where a very different Victor Von Doom is the benevolent savior and leader of humanity. As our embittered and embattled Doom finally comes face to face with his peaceful alter ego, he'll be forced to decide: Should he take the lessons of this better world in order to save his own?
▸ Doctor Victor Von Doom is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in The Fantastic Four #5 (July 1962). The monarch of the fictional nation of Latveria, Doom primarily serves as the archenemy of Reed Richards and the Fantastic Four. He has also come into conflict with other superheroes in the Marvel Universe, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, the X-Men, and the Avengers. He has also been portrayed as an antihero at times, working with the heroes if their goals align and only if it benefits him.

How is it that dr doom continues to have the best development despite being one of the hardest to write and they nailed it every time. That’s quite an accomplishment.

All that is without *adding more power to his character. We assume technological superiority is just a Tuesday to Doom so any device he makes, well that's just Doom being Doom. Having the Ultimate nullifier, while a power gain, is not a permanent character upgrade. Has he had the stones, sure, does he have them always, no. Cosmic Cube, power cosmic, darkhold... Power source after power source yet they have all passed by and yet, Doom is still Doom. If they ever give him the X gene I think he would flex with it for a second then leave it behind. Dooms motto; See what it can do, then do better. MCU!!! DISNEY!!! DON'T MESS THIS UP! I am too old to find a new Lord and Savior.

@@beatooze8025 Doom in more recent runs has been more willing to hold onto magical augmentations, but if its something like the stones, or the darkhold, or even the power cosmic. Doom sees those things more as a crutch then an augmentation to his own power and that is why he throws those away. With technology its a study then throw away kind of thing, because doom will always attempt, or outright improve on it. But if its an actual augmentation to his own power, instead of seen as a "Crutch" doom will often go to lengths to try and hold onto it. But if its ripped from him, he will never go back to try and reclaim it. As to him the power is "inferior" if he manages to lose it somehow. Doom is more of an egomaniac in more current runs, but its used to curb his power, because Doom very easily gets his hands on some of the most powerful artifacts in marvel. And he just doesn't do a whole lot with them because he seems them as making him weak.

Gotta say that Good Victor had me going for a second there, I thought that Dr Doom might have some introspection and improvement, but yeah, dude pushed it too far. All he needed to do was ease off for a bit, maybe share some ideas or whatnot but nope. Good Victor made it personal. (Which, understandably, it was.) Honestly, stories like this are why I love Dr Doom. He's such a complex and interesting character and honestly, he's right. He is, in many many ways, always the smartest person in the room and if he really wanted to, he could pretty much save humanity. He has, in fact, in the Emperor Doom storyline where he created, I think, it was Battleworld etc. However, Doom's greatest strength and his most glaring weakness is his pride. Well that and his nagging insecurities regarding Reed Richards and his absolute hate for him. At the end of the day though, the real reason Doom doesn't stay good is that it just isn't too interesting. Doom needs to be amoral yet honourable, misanthropic yet strangely obsessed with bettering humanity. The reason Doom does something is simple. It's because he can. And he's better than you. I like how, though, that deep, deep down inside, past everything. He just wants a family, to be respected. You know, very human things. Really good stuff by Cantwell, I'm going to look out for more stories from him.

At this point can we just call Doom what he is? A Byronic Hero. He is up there with my boy Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights and Phantom from The Phantom of the Opera. tbh, I really like Doom's philosophy despite him being an egomaniac. Here's the thing, in every aspect no matter tangible or not, balance must exist: order and chaos, good and evil. A coin always has its sides. Ofc, everyone wants to be on the good side. Doom knows his role, he has to be evil for the sake of others to progress or be better. He is basically the wake up call, and the bitter truth that no one wants to hear. If everything is perfect, then there will be no progress at all and nothing but stagnation and monotony.

But that still doesn't justify evil and gratuitous suffering, some people would argue that they'd rather be in a perfect world than a one with the likes of doom, because if sentient biengs try to eradicate doom, but doom always exists anyway no matter what, then it's completely pointless and futile to even try. The reason sentient creatures try to eradicate "doom" is because they think that it's gratuitous and have hope's that that it will be eradicated. Yes balance DOSE exist, but so do other aspects of existence which are considered negative. Just because balance dose exist, that doesn't mean it MUST exist Saying that it must is a flawed assumption without any solid evidence that if it didn't things would be worse. So no.
