That is the most ridiculous reason I’ve ever heard someone try and sue for.

If they get in an accident back in the US are they going to sue their state because their state didn’t warn them that they can get in an accident?! Just don’t leave your house.

My son moved to Lahaina (before the fires and lost everything). He then relocated to Oahu. I had been planning a visit to Maui first, now obviously I’ll stay with him in Honolulu. Since the time he moved there, I’ve been actively preparing for my visit (I’ve never been) I live in FL and doing things that involve elevation, preparing my body for rocky hikes, joint protecting exercises, snorkeling a lot more. I’m 50 and I really want to enjoy this visit to HI and not just chill on a beach or break my ankle day one 😂. It seems a bit overboard, but I’m having fun “preparing” for my trip. 🤙🏼🌺

Like the odds of getting blood clots from long plane rides in your legs? If that were the case as far as liability cases would pile up. Do countries and states have responsibility to advise about those conditions caused or exacerbated by long airplane flights? And if there were other comorbidities that predisposed that poor gentleman's tragedy, perhaps that liability should've been with a medical professional who is familiar with the individual context of that person's unique clinical picture.

That Michigan man's death is sad, but I don't think they can blame anyone for it. He must have had pre existing conditions for this to occur, possibly undiagnosed, or some major risk factors. Like right side heart failure (CHF, congestive heart failure), kidney disease and diabetes. The quick pre hospital EMS intervention is 40mg Lasix IV push and high flow O2. That drys the lungs out quickly in a matter of a minute or two. Then get ready for the patient to pee. In Hawaii, a lot of pulmonary edema occurs in elderly and high risk patients after eating salty foods, like at a luau, which causes fluid retention. When patients with pre existing conditions and diseases go off their diets it's usually not a good outcome.

How petty. If a shark bit his ankle off, is that Tourism Authority and Hotel's fault... If he got a severe allergic reaction to a jellyfish sting and died......? There are many bad very low percent things that can happen to someone, you or your loved one may be the unlucky .001%, that is life.

So annoying...they come to our islands from land locked states like the mid-West and expect to be okay in our currents and high surf....sheesh, even I don't swim when it's rough and I was born here. Rest relax and enjoy the food during your first couple of days.

Its also caused by the snorkle and mask. To breath through the snorkel it takes twice the lung power to do so and you still get less oxygen due to the water pressure. A young person in decent shape , no problem but a old and fat out of shape person could be a disaster waiting to happen.

What in the dumbass hell is that kind of idiotic reason to sue! How are places being visited responsible for a person's health trouble due to a long flight? Anything to place blame.

Watch this from the perspective of tourists - you are blaming them for dying while on the islands on vacation...their spouses having to return home - alone, just to face unwaved Hawaii State, and health emergency services bills. You look like you want tourist dollars, but hate tourists... New Normal: Chinese Aloha?
