I ran my AV receiver for couple of years as is, and it sounded great. I ended up buying a external amplifier for a fair price. My receiver sounded like a different beast. It sounded louder with less effort, and I'm not sure if it's in my head but to me I'm hearing more details than without an external amplifier.

the last few days i've been watching your video series about home theaters, and i gotta say i love your info and im surprised you don't have more views. keep it up man, great job of these videos and keep them coming. I will be building my house in a year or so and a theater room is one thing i want and was wondering what is a good starting buget wise for a great theater room?

Dont buy a surround processor its best to buy a really powerfull reciever with preout then run a separate amp to run front left and right towers speakers then another amp for center and let the recivers internal amp just run all the sorrounds. It will blow you away.. as the reciver now has plenty of headroom to handle just the surrounds , put fans on all of the amps to run cool and make sure you got a direct 20 amp Power line from the panel and a surge protector unit to clean and condition street Power coming in the house. You do this and you will never blow a tweeter when cranking up your system and you will be able to play a whole movie at Reference levels or more.

Great video but I have a question. If I have 6 seats 3 in front 3 in back should the side speakers(in wall) be between the seats and should the atmos speakers be placed 2 in front of the front seats and 2 in front of the rear seats? I have a 11.4.2 system. I'm building my room out now and needed advice on proper placement of speakers for theater room.

Thanks, I feel better about my staged approach now. I’m installing a 7.1.4 system into my living room (approx 1400 sqr feet). I need to build it up over time due to the cost of the down stairs remodelling and sound damping treatment I’m doing. For now I’m just getting an all in one receiver to power all the channels (likely the Denon x6700h) and adding 4 new ceiling speakers (RSL C34E MKii) to my existing 5.1 speakers. Then I’ll add 3 new front speakers (probably 2 Klipsch RP-600M II and a R-50C) and replace the rear speakers with Klipsch R-40M’s. Finally I plan to add a 3 channel amp to separately power the front 3 channels and replace my existing sub. I know I will be making compromises due to it being a living room but Hopefully if I can get the speaker placement right it should sound pretty decent after being professionally EQ’d.

I have a 3 channel ATI amplifier, but looking forward an excellent pre/pro that is used. I need 5.2 . Do you have a recommendation? This is mostly for 2 and 5 channel listening Thank you

So, I like separates because you can maximize the power going to the surrounds and the height channels.... Most receivers place most of their power in the LCR channels while placing 35 to 65 Watts in the surround and height channel.... Keep in mind that, depending on the speakers and your room setup, a receiver would do just fine for most set ups.....

@@tymhomes the only thing I could suggest. Your clients obviously can afford larger setups; it would be nice to see a set of videos on systems for various house sizes, and how to plan your system so it scales with a move to a bigger house.

Michael Slocumb Sr. In-ceiling subs are a great option when the application calls for it. I prefer traditional placement on floor or even in wall, but we’ve used in ceilings subs, and clients have always been really happy with them.

I have an average size living room, I will be running Denon 6700, Klipsch 8000f, 504c, 4 Atmos ceiling, SVS PB3000, for a 7.2.4 setup. Do i need an amplifier? I have never used it, previously i had Onxyko TXNR 636 7.1 with Paradgim CT Cinema 100, i never used 100% volume, mostly at 50 only.

Hi I own an Onkyo TX-RZ1100 Reciever. Can my Onkyo TX-RZ1100 Reciever can I still use separate to separate my sound? And which would sound better using separates or using an Reciever?

For ultra high performance you will need an amp. Too many reasons to list.

So how do you adjust volume? Do you have to set volume separately for each amp every time you want it louder/softer?

No, the amps are only power regardless how many. The preamp/processor volume control adjust all volume levels together.

Not to be confused with “calibration” that happens inside the processor, where you adjust audio level (and distance) per speaker, so volume up or down makes the whole system louder or quieter.

Should you buy an inbox system with all speakers or Should you piece the entire system with different type of "quality " speakers

We use the same model for all LCRs, same model for all surrounds, same model for all Atmos. And all speakers from the same brand/line.

I have a question since I am already using a marantz 5.2 .2 av receiver and getting sufficient sound from the lfe inspite using all towers except the Atmos and the center speaker which is from klipschs reference series r50 if I remember correctly. Now my point is since I am using a reciver will using the preouts as this receiver has will give that same balanced sound as you get while using just the lfe or the preouts actually outsink the sound and proccessor required for separates. Why I asked this is because in 2005 I started my theatre by using separates directly from the analog outputs of the blue ray player as such analog player s were available then. After upgrading to marantz I get good power and ofcourse the complcasies of adjustments of the different amplifiers from time to time. So if possible read carefully please and answer.
