Do You Need CATARACT SURGERY Before LASER VITREOLYSIS (YAG Laser Treatment of Eye Floaters)?

Ғылым және технология

If you went to a local eye doctor and were told you could not be treated until you had cataract surgery, maybe you need a second opinion with THE FLOATER DOCTOR. We treat a lot of floater sufferers and about 80% still have their natural lenses in place. It is not just an option, but it is Dr. Johnson's preference. This video will describe where that recommendation comes from and why it may betray that your local doctor does not have the experience with the laser, but instead are just repeating the recommendations for newbies to treating floaters from the laser manufacturer.

The Floater Doctor, James H. Johnson M.D. is Medical Director of the only medical practice in the world specializing in, and exclusively treating eye floaters, the bothersome spots, shadows, and clouds that affect your vision. Although common, especially changes such as posterior vitreous detachment (PVDs) as we age, these vitreous eye floaters are rarely offered treatment by your local and well qualified eye care providers, even at top specialty institutions. Dr. Johnson uses a specialized FDA-approved YAG laser to vaporize and destroy the proteins in the vitreous that are responsible for your spots, shadows, and moving blurred areas in your vision. He has been doing so since 2007 making him one of, if not the most experienced in this very specialty niche area in ophthalmology, a pioneer in this field.

I'm close to getting cataract surgery anyway (a year, maybe 2). Would it be better to do floater treatment before, after, or does it totally not matter? Thanks.

If you are potentially a couple years away, then there is not advantage (from my perspective) to waiting. In fact, the newer 'premium' multifocal IOLs do add some challenge in treating eye floaters.

I treat through natural lenses all the time. In many instances, it is my preference.

doctor how much it will cost for this surgery, i have been facing this issue from 2012, is it completely cureable ?

Fees are described in detail at the web site. There you will find that I do not use phrases like "completely cureable", "remove, eliminate, 100%" etc. Those are unrealistic expectations. For treatable eye floater problems I can usually make it a lot, lot better. The only way to get a cure is invasive surgery.

are the floaters in this video considered small or large?

That's actually pretty small, about 2mm in diameter. It would appear quite large to the patient though.
