Really appreciate you guys saying you don't have to spend the $$$ on custom orthotics...my podiatrist offered those first and when I seemed hesitant at the price tag, then offered the $40 Powerstep ones you guys have in this video. I'm glad I went for the $40 ones!

The PoerStep orthodics are the only ones I will use. My podiatrist recommended them to me when I had a real bad case of PF. He told me that he could fit me in a pair of custom orthodics at the cost of about $300.00, but he felt the PowerSteps were usually just as successful. He was correct. The running shoe store where I generally buy shoes also sells them as the preferred orthodic.

A good arch support insole is a game changer. I have been working on hard surfaces in dress shoes for 15yrs walking 10-20k steps a day. I've always put off the shelf insoles(usually very little arch support) in my dress shoes as most dress shoes have crap insoles that are toast after just a few days on them. After a day at work my feet would be sore not painful like PF but just wore out and wanted to get off them. After some minor PF this year and getting it cleared up with consistent stretching I also tried a good arch support insole and let me tell you it is a night and day difference how my feet feel at the end of the day. Not to mention by better aligning my feet my lower back pain that has been there for yrs was gone in just a few days of wearing them.

Suffered from through all of 2019. Now much better. Got better by: 1) stopped stretching - why further aggravate something that is already inflamed, and 2) I wear a good orthotic all of the time - even in my slippers. I always wear, even if I temporarily get out of bed at night.

here's several things to try Test out one of the natural remedies for plantar foot. Something as simple as ginger root, which can be found at your drug store, is a great anti-inflammatory. Ginger root is in a group of plants known as Cox inhibitors. This means they help inflammation naturally. Another natural remedy for pain is Bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme found in pineapples. If you drink the raw juice or eat raw pineapple, you can gt advantage from the properties of Bromelain. This is natural healing at its very best. (I discovered these and more tips from fergs foot formula website )

Hey you two!! I have been suffering from plantar fasciitis off and on my entire adult life. I tried all kinds of professional (seen many a Dr/pediatrist ), and OTC orthotics and even injections with no luck. I have never been given any exercises! (Can you believe it?!) Anyway, this last attack was awful and in desperation I found you! I’ve been doing your suggested PT exercises and also got the (I did your water/paper bag test👍🏻) Pinnacle Power Step pink (for higher arches) inserts and WOW!!! Almost instant relief! It was next to amazing. Three days later I got 2 more of them so I wouldn’t have to keep trading them out in different shoes. Worth every cent. I have also been icing and careful not to walk barefoot (or without those orthotics!). Thank you SOOO MUCH! I will be following you for more advice as I age, I promise ❤️👍🏻

I guess there's no magic pill solution that works for everyone 100 percent of the time. I have high arches and I've dealt with plantar fasciitis for years. Orthotics never seemed to really help. Switching to barefoot / minimalist shoes really started turning things around. Initially, I couldn't wear them for for than about 30 minutes before my feet would feel really tired. But it got easier as my feet got stronger. Within a month, I was wearing them for everything but running. Even before the plantar fascia inflammation had subsided, I could wear these without pain...and they were the only shoes I owned that didn't hurt to wear. After 5 weeks, the throbbing pain I had experienced for so long was gone. I ended up switching to zero drop (Altra) running shoes and rebuilding my mileage very slowly, as well as doing foot strengthening exercises and walking a lot in barefoot / minimalist shoes. It's been over 6 months and I'm up to running a half marathon without foot pain.

I have very low arches and have worn Powerstep orthotics for the past few years and have had excellent results, but they are too thick for me to use for hiking, raising my heels too high in the heel pocket of my shoes. Last long hike (142 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia) I got bad blisters on my heels (bony calcaneus) in my Altra Timp 1.5 shoes. I got frustrated one day and cut the support out of the orthotics, found some very thin insoles, put the plastic supports in the shoes with the thin insoles over them, and solved the problem. I ordered custom orthotics and hope that they work as well or better, and fit in trail runners without giving me heel problems. Still, for working all day on my feet, I have found that Powerstep orthotics are much better (for me) than the Superfeet that I used for a decade previously.

Help! I need advice..after three years of wearing $600 custom orthotics, i now have pf and heel spurs in both feet instead of just one. Then i wasn't able to use my left foot due to my achilles. I've read that arch support is like a cast, causing the muscles supporting the arch to atrophy. I've used orthotics for three years and only worsened the issue. Should i ditch my orthotics and go minimalist to allow my feet to rebuild? Xero shoes, for example, says cushioned shoes cause these problems in the first place.. I've given conventional treatment three years while my feet got worse. Is it safe to go without orthotics while i have pf?

A: 1. What shoes are you wearing, both day and night? Name/brand? This makes a critical difference. 2. Do you wear supportive shoes with good inserts (like Powerstep Maxx) all day AND even at home, never walking barefoot except to sleep and shower? Strict compliance with both #1 and 2 is essential to healing PF.

not sure above will work or not but sharing my experience. I suffered from plantar fasciitis for around 3 years. I tried stretching, physio, night sprint and ice for around 2 years without much relief. After that, I tried a steroid injection as advised by a renowned doctor but after 6-month more intense pain returned. One of the doctors advised me to reduce weight and wear a “doctor extra soft slipper”. As I can’t wear slipper to the office, I bought a pair of gel nimbus as advice over the blogs. **And surprisingly, the pain was gone within 10 days of the use of gel nimbus and doctor slippers. **I just made sure to wear either the show or slippers and never walked barefoot. Asics Gel Nimbus 22 was expensive but worth each penny, but not sure about latest nimbus versions.

These PTs are behind the times. Orthotics are 100% not necessary to fix PF…it’s just a bandaid to the actual issue. In 22 yrs as a PT, 100% of my PF patients, hundreds, have gotten full resolution without any need for orthotics.

I had plantar fasciitis for seven years. It only went away when I removed all plants from my diet. I only eat meat now and no more pain! #meatheals
