    Use whatever gets the job done. If you have a USB mic use that, something that connects to your computer another way, use that. If you find the quality isn't great then you can think about upgrading. But try whatever you have first. Thank you for watching. Keep creating!. 👊👍

Since I have no audio tech experience, I was confused about the audio interface until now and had to outsource for the instrumentals. I will finish this song in 2 weeks. Thank you so much!

    Great video! Thanks for the info. I’ve been making guitar videos for a while and I was going into a pedal, then an analog mixer which has a USB out to my computer with GarageBand. I was never really satisfied with the sound. Then I got the focusrite Scarlett, which came with a free version of ableton lite. When I went DI into the Scarlett and recorded with ableton using ableton’s effects and eq’s, I could really notice a difference. The guitar was fuller, richer, had more presence. The focusrite basically has a better analog to digital converter than the mixing board does, which makes sense, since that’s its whole purpose. So, I was fine for a few months with what I had, but then when I wanted to fine tune the sound, I shelled out for the interface, and got the free software with it, so I’m pretty psyched with my setup now.

    Hello I’m planning on recording covers with my acoustic piano + vocals, and I found the perfect spot for my microphone on my piano in order to get full clarity on my vocals and my piano. My issue is that my microphone catches a lot of noise being connected directly to the computer, and I don’t know whether I should buy a more expensive microphone or an audio interface. I might be a little late to answer, but no you don't need an audio interface if you are only using a DAW, Midi keyboard and VST. An audio interface is for either sending in or out audio. When recording a VST from a DAW, the computer makes all the calculations and creates the music based on calculations. An audio interface would be good if you are recording music/sounds outside of the computer or if you are usinbg it for listening to the audio (if I have understood it correctly).

  • @AudioTechTV

    @AudioTechTV

    2 жыл бұрын

    It would depend on the audio interface and the sound card. If your sound card is 16 bit and your audio interface is 24 bit the sound quality should be better. Will it be a huge difference for just playback? Probably not but again that depends on the sound card your laptop has and the audio interface. Also it would kind of depend on your headphones. If you have headphones that require a little more power (higher ohms) then an audio interface will likely be able to deliver more power so the headphones will sound better.

  • @AudioTechTV

    If you aren’t recording anything in then no the interface won’t really help to make them better as you are only listening through the interface. It might be able to give you a better listening quality which could lead to better beats also you can connect studio monitors to one and that can help you to hear your mixes better so it will lead to better quality but just having an audio interface connect won’t do anything to the actual quality of your beats and if you’re only using sounds within your computer like virtual instruments, samples, and loops. It if you are recording sounds in then it will definitely give you better quality recordings compared to an onboard sound card.

    Does audio interfaces make beat production sound better?

    The audio interface itself will not make the beat sound better if everything you’re using is “inside the box” (vst instruments and samples). If you’re recording in then yes it will help to make better quality audio. However. If you take your audio interface and connect some decent studio monitors to it then you will likely get a better sounding mix just from being able to make better mix decisions. Also if you use your audio interfaces Asio driver and record your virtual instruments with low latency then that can help too. But just having the Audi interface connected won’t add anything to audio that’s already recorded or virtual instrument sounds.

(Since I am just starting out, I’m on a budget, so I would highly appreciate some advice) Thank you for your video by the way and the kindness that you are offering! You got a new subscriber! ☺️

    What microphone are you currently using? What type of noise is it getting? If your levels are set too high, you could be clipping and that can create some noises. If it’s a microphone that’s connected to the mic input on your computer it could be noise from the preamp not being very good. You could maybe try a cheaper USB mic. The Fifine K669 is decent if you can find a Shure MV51 on sale it’s a great USB mic. Ideally you would get an audio interface with a couple of condensers for the piano and another mic for your voice but I understand that budgets are a thing. If you did decide to go the audio interface way then you could continue adding as your budget allows you to. I would recommend getting a 4 input audio interface because you may eventually want to stereo mic your piano (use two mics). If you’re looking for quick solutions for working with what you already have, make sure your levels are ok going into your computer. Aim for around -12db. But I don’t know what your current setup is like so maybe the mic itself is noisy or the preamp it’s going into. Like I said buying an interface and piecing things together as you go might be the way to do it.

    Simple Green Tech I’m using Mozos MKIT 800Prov2 -it’s a European brand. I think it’s humming and buzzing, I don’t know how to call it, but it’s simply overlapping the recording. I tried noise reduction on Audacity and it ruins the sound. I will check to see the level settings, and I might go for an interface at first if it doesn’t work this way. Thank you for replying!

    Update: The audio interface worked for me! Still have to work on better recordings and have to get better microphones, but my recordings improved a lot. Thank you again for your advice!
