​@@Tumbling_Wolf Japan has always been pretty strict, so much that renting video games was illegal in Japan because before that music stores used to rent music media, but that was made illegal because they began to offer customers tape recorders to make unofficial copies of the cassettes or records. So it isn't just Nintendo.

Much like Pac-Man, Space Invaders is still owned by it's original developer and publisher company, Taito, which is currently owned by Square Enix so yea, there was basically no reason to leave it out with Hero, Cloud, Sephiroth and Sora in the game.

The character we know as Mr. Game & Watch appears in parachute as well as a few other Game & Watch games with the exact same design we see in Smash, he's his own character.

Mario and Donkey Kong are right after Mr. Game & Watch and Pac-Man, having debuted together in 1981. Sheriff is one of my favorite Assist Trophies. His attacks are strong. Color-TV Game isn't too shabby either. Nice trivia, Aaronitmar.

Within characters, PacMan’s Namco Roulette (up taunt) can show Galaxip, the name of the ship in Galaxian (original name of the Galaga series) which debuted in September of 1979, one month before Sheriff. Namco Roulette can also display the Fighter from Galaga and the Hypership from Gaplus, later games in the series. The Boss Galaga item, PacMan’s grab animation, and the Boss Galaxian ship (one of PacMan’s fruits) are also from the series but I’m not sure which of them debuted in the original game at a cursory glance.
