I use all but one of my edc items every day. The one I haven't used is the one I hope I never have to use.

Nice video. How much should you spend on your edc gear? My thought process is 1. How often will you use it? 2. Is the function/quality improvement worth the cost increase? Does it fit in your budget?

I read a comment about Survive! knives yesterday that said "I got into knives 6 months ago and ordered 9 knives from survive, none have showed up" lol. A lot of "EDC" people literally just have online shopping addictions. Imagine pre-ordering 8 more knives before the first one even shows up.

Enjoying this format!! Granted I carry fixed blades most of my 40 plus yrs, I have always enjoyed natural handles, Horn, wood type material. I can't stand plastics or metal handles. For an EDC pen I like the Zebra f701. It's a metal pen, good pocket clip, and has easy to find refills with a good selection. Bonus it is lower cost under $10 and I use it multiple times daily. Cheers beers and whiskey 🤠

I am not a fixed blade knife guy. I know some visually impaired people who carry a monocular occasionally. I sometimes wonder if some people buy these high end pens and pencils as a gift, instead of the Cross Pen & pencil sets of old. Also, with such a high end pen you are more likely to keep track of it, as opposed to cheaper pens people lose all the time because they aren't inclined to keep track of them. Wood scales on a metal frame is different from a a full wood handle

EDC is the only area where I could justify a premium steel knife. Why? Because an EDC knife is one that you carry in civilization, not in the backcountry, so you are not going to be that far from the tools you need to sharpen premium steels. Any knife is only as good as it is sharp, and while premium steels do hold an edge for a long time, when they need to be sharpened, and they will eventually need to be sharpened, you need high grade tools and jigs to properly sharpen them. In the woods, you want a cheap, tough steel that is easy to sharpen using field-expedient sharpening methods. Don't be precious about knife steels. Knives are made to be used. The first knife skill is sharpening.

Why on Earth would you think I would waste time carrying things every day if I don't actually use them?
