Praise the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm a protestant. Saved out of the cult of Mormonism years ago, then backslidden into a sinful godless lifestyle. A year ago God restored me and set me free from all my addictions which were many. And my sober studies over the last year I have become theologically reformed. And now I am emerging into orthodoxy. I am cut off from being able to attend an orthodox service by my location and lack of transportation but that will change in time. For now I am very blessed and happy to have all of this material on KZread too learn from and be sustained by. The other day I watched a video that just showed the faces of these old hermits and monks with chanting in the background and I was so blessed by the holy spirit that my heart fit to burst and my face covered with tears. Explain that. Thank you Jesus for all things

Reconsider your choice. There is no salvation in the Orthodox Church. They are schismatics and heretical. A simple look into history will demonstrate that. I will agree the liturgy is very reverent and amazing but they do not possess the true faith.

Sam Saliba yes that’s true the Lord did say you can get divorce because of adultery. However the church has always from the beginning forbid “remarriage”. The Orthodox Church use to also forbid “remarriage” after divorce but now allows it. How do you explain that?

He is a wise man indeed, his faith has given him wisdom. However the statement that he is the wisest man is probably going too far. There are monks and spiritual leaders all over the world and especially like places Mt Athos and Valaam who have devoted their lives completely to Jesus and whom can teach things about Jesus, salvation and the way to get there, that you might not find in the Bible, via the lives of the Saints and their own personal experiences. I am happy however that God has chosen this man to convert from protestant to Orthodox, he is like a bright light illuminating dark areas of the United States. God keep him well , as the Greeks say " AXIOS" ....................give him power to continue.

Whenever I listen to Father Trenham, I'm often reminded of how Moses had a speech impediment. Most people find public speaking difficult in principle, but it doesn't stop this man from speaking and speaking well. God bless him.

Regarding self love, the only reason I love myself is because I was made with the image of God, acknowledging my sinfulness at the same time and relying on God’s mercy, and trying to keep and maintain that image with the grace of God. And also because I’m a daughter of God and the bride of Christ Jesus and I belong to royalty because My Father is a King... No situation where we have to break Gods law or sin. Struggling with that now for a little over 2 years. My wife has abandoned myself and our faith, she lives in our home. My Armenian orthodox Preist has even begun to look at divorce for me. That is sinful, but the way we are living is sinful and invites bitterness and the stress on me is unbearable. I need the answer we cannot pray together, money is leaving the account and i fear my physical and mental health is suffering. Either way .. i sin.

Before 2nd century AD the Jews' Sabbath day wasn't always on a Saturday, it was what ever day the Jewish calendar it fell on which varied. They only adopted every Saturday on our calendar around the 2nd century for convenience under political pressure.

The 7 day calendar began at creation in Genesis. You're correct that it wasn't called "Saturday," it was called יום שבת" (Yom shabbat/Day of sabbath). All day's were designated this way, יום א, ב, ג,ד,ה, ו (Day 1, 2, 3 etc...) Biblical and modern Hebrew do not have names for the days, they are day 1, day 2 etc... In the Torah (Numbers 15:32-35) a man is put to death for picking up sticks on the Sabbath. So the calendar was established following a 7 day week with 13 months. It was not varied. When the year began had some variation based on the Barley ripening, but I don't think that changed the week. Like the barley ripening was week 1, but Day 1, 2, 3 was still those same days. Where that changed was with Hillel 2nd who created a fixed calendar. That was after the time of Jesus, but even with that the 7 day week continued. Only the fixed calendar with Babylonian names changed. Babylonian names for the months are found in the writings as well though.
