Exactly! It's just like if your kid is stressed and scared. If you become calm and firm in the situation and you let them know/ feel that you got this, you got their backs and they don't need to worry, they are going to calm down and look to you to feel safe. Dogs need reassuring that they can trust you.

Some kids saw me walking and told me there was a dead cat on the sidewalk. Im thinking idk what to do either but knew I had to be calm and collected. I told them go home I will call animal services.

You are by far the very best most helpful trainer full of consistently beneficial positive reinforcement that always works. I will say I still work daily with a pulling walk pup but it’s so much better and I’m confident we will eventually get to an easy loose leash walking habit.

Ooh I like that one. I've always been in the habit of putting my dog to a sit when I stop. My problem is now trying to figure out how to change the speed of the paces when we walk. I always walked fast but now that I have arthritis in my ankle and I'm legally blind I still have 25% of my vision I'm not always sure where I'm going, I have a beautiful red golden and she is amazing and I want to get the most out of her. She is picked up on my anxiety and has learned how to calm me when I'm anxious but now I would like to make her my service dog I'm having a tough time finding a Handler or trainer that can help me. I have trained a lot of dogs before I lost my vision now it's a little scary.

2nd !❤🇨🇦 Thank you, I will start doing this. My farm dog shepherd Jack needs to chill, when I walk him in town. He's come a long way for a pup born into a situation of wild dogs, in the great frozen Canadian north. He's two now, will take on a bear, or a moose without hesitation, but he's aggressive when it comes to dogs. Mostly fear. I'm gonna keep watching. Thank you again, from an old grandma in northern Ontario Canada❤🇨🇦 Your video's are great, by the way.

I tried that once with my dog Yennifer. At the time i actually had the collar on my waist, soon it went down to my legs. She hopped right over my leg and ran off. She dragged me with the leash for about 2 minutes before it snapped

Beautiful dog. Yes this truck really helps with reactivity I see dogs infront of their owner and they are much more likely to become reactive especially if they are on a tight leash and they are not confident or nervous animals in the first place. This tactic allows your dog to look to you for direction, they see that you are calm and it communicates what is expected of them. He's a great trainer!

I want to say white Swiss shepherd but they normally have all black noses, altho this one might be older. They’re not the easiest to train. I have a male 14 month, loving and does like to learn but very easily distracted especially outside

I do this with my dog all the time and if something is going on that makes him nervous, like bicycles going by, he rests his cheek against my thigh. He's partially blind, so this physical contact helps him know I'm there for him.

My family has a similar idea, it's where you put your foot over gently but firmly in front of the back paw or on the front paw. All though my dad was training hunting and hopefully one day assistance dogs.

I do something slightly different, I specifically tell my dog to stop, so that when we get to crossings etc she stops when told, and doesn't walk on until told. Also very effective

I do this naturally without thinking, even going up the stairs to the apartment my leg is in front of him.

My family has a similar idea, it's where you put your foot over gently but firmly in front of the back paw or on the front paw. All though my dad was training hunting and hopefully one day assistance dogs.

My Japanese Spitz will often not sit when I tell her to sit while on a walk. She is so distractable and if she sits she often gets up again without waiting for me to release her.

Never occurred to me that British people and others who drive on the left would also heel left with their dogs 🤯 or maybe just a leftie idk. Always taught the duck retrievers commands for heeling and returning on the right

I do something slightly different, I specifically tell my dog to stop, so that when we get to crossings etc she stops when told, and doesn't walk on until told. Also very effective

I do the exact same. It’s crucial for emergency situations in the event she needs to stop without by heading to the street! That word is pivotal
I tried this today with my lil 9wk pup. There was a big husky coming towards us abd he was about to run away. I just planted my flag and he immediately calmed down and just walked thr big fella walk past
