Glad it was helpful! I tried only picking the tips that I personally researched on a real world project, as there's a lot of tips out there that are just recycled and often teach the wrong thing

Regarding button shapes, I know a research team that worked on an app made for rural workers who'd never used a computer before (this was just as the first iPad was coming out), and had no previous mental model for buttons. Through testing various styles, the team learned that circular buttons were by far the most reliable shape to get users to understand they were meant to be tapped, as the shape most closely matched the user's fingertip.

That is actually very interesting! Is that research published anywhere? We're adding the tips to our knowledge base at hype4.academy and we want to actually include research like this to show that sometimes these tips don't work (for specific scenarios and user groups)

@@MalewiczHypeThe company was called Exprima Media in Portland, and I'm not sure the studio's still around. Lots can change in a decade. I remember the app was for rural coffee farmers, and they found that circles were the most obvious shapes, and after some iteration, they went with dashed strokes around the circles, which I think had even better results.

We replaced it by "My list" and instead of to favorites you were adding things to "your shopping list" in a way, along with a skeuomorphic paper background - it worked perfectly at that time. ;)
