People need to put some respect on Griot's name and not write it off just because it's available at autoparts stores. 😤

Griots has great products, they take their time bringing them to market, and they all perform very, very well.

Jamie, I was a sealant junkie. Now thanks to you and Eddie! I'm becoming a coating kinda guy. My last sealant I used is From Lithium. Avalanche. I must say I haven't had a chance to coat my own car. I've done 2 coatings. Ethos EzPz. As my first! I was pretty nervous. But it was really Easy to work with. No high spots or anything else. I just got done applying DIY 5 year coating on a 2016 pearl white Lexus. It was hot! But I applied it in the shade in the late afternoon. It was a quick work time. But I had enough time to do each panel and wipe it down. No high spots. Anyway! If you are going to do a sealant test again. I highly recommend Avalanche by Lithium. I put it on in Late March. It's still going strong. Thanks for everything you do!😉

You are rapidly moving to one of my top five detailers! Keep up these thorough techniques and testing. 😊 Griots has always been top shelf, and Surface Wash has been my goto soap for 6 years and beat every competitor until Primus 2.0 came out. They are such great soaps. Also, you have proved what we all know and that is how fast spray on ceramics wear off.

I wonder how P&S Defender would’ve held up in this test? Props to the Griots, it always seems to hold up really well.

IDK, 3 weeks in and this what we getting. We better off buying a gallon of Meguiars synthetic xpress spray wax, a old ancient product that still delivers. I promise you that you gonna get a solid 2 months with it. Its similar prices at these "toppers" but you get wayyyy more in a gallon

It’s not going to out last a si02 based sealant. waxes only last a week or two before they lose their shine and water behavior

@@Chris-wv2wi well I'm speaking from experience, I've been using it for the last several years. You can get a solid 2 months from it. Although it may not outlast a SIO2 spray sealant, it is a synthetic sealant so you actually get more bang for your buck in terms of your dollar because it only falls short a very little bit but it's way way way cheaper

I've used Meguiar's synthetic spray wax and Griot's Ceramic Spray wax. No question the Griot's is far more durable than the Meguiar's.

​@@TheBreakfastLover I never said its more durable, i said for a few of these spray sealants on the panel, you may as well go with express spray wax because you get more bang for your buck. Its just as durable as the weaker spay sealants on this panel, cost a similar price as the weaker ones but you get a gallon size and not just 16 ounces

@@Dee--Jay spray waxes might save money upfront, but not time nor effort. Griot's can last 9-12 months.

Nice work. I am wondering if you did a second panel with the products reversed if that would make a difference as the very bottom row typically gets more grit and "gets worn out" before the upper portion of the panel (at least that is what I see with coatings on my cars).

Valid query. If we saw griots doing that in the bottom row, you'd have some pretty good info

I’ve been using Griots for 2 years after seeing longevity tests on Scott HD page. I’ve seen 8-10 months water beading on many cars.

I think we all learned some stuff from this testing. I have to say most interesting test I ve ever seen with the soap squares and now that IPA situation. Very cool. 😎

Interesting to say the least. Before throwing in the towel, I have a suggestion. Wash with DIY Detail Rinse Less Wash or another that leaves nothing on the surface for next week’s wash.

@@orthodox1717these aren’t true coatings. Agitating an IPA is enough to remove the Griots, Dimitry has showcased that on his channel. My point is using a wash that leaves nothing behind is the safest way to not accidentally remove some of these “coatings” while trying to leave them 100% clean.

I have had extremely good results using DIY rinseless on sealants and coatings. It definitely doesn’t leave a film.

Griots looks good, I currently have hybrid solutions ceramic spray that’s been holding strong after a month, no decon, but this will be my next choice to try out. Thanks Jamie!

@@privacyrules from what I've seen, this pre-wash is basically as weak as they come. You have to use something like Bilt Hamber Touch-Less, Auto Foam, Primus 2.0 etc. to get actual cleaning.

No Tech Choice? Has to be a crowd favorite among professionals..both ceramic and their graphene max

Would have been nice to have the coating flipped on the other side of the vehicle. Just to see the difference from top to bottom row.

Nice comparison 👍👍👍 Just an idea, maybe on your next test of spray on sealants what about going back in the archives of a few years ago and comparing the better brands of 2021 vs 2024 ? Example , testing Seal & Shine, The Last Coat or Moonlight with today’s big hitters …. Griots 3in1, Can Coat, Ceramic Gloss, ADS etc Cheers 👍

Pretty underwhelmed with my Boss Foam Cannon. The little ball on the straw doesn’t roll around all that well and gets stuck in certain areas without liquid in the cannon reservoir leading to just spraying out water I’ve also got each area tightened down as much as I possibly can and I still get water spurting out of the connecting areas

Griots for the win. And it’s pretty economical

Griots seems to foam the most with the IPA rinse, interesting stuff.

I’d like to see TW Hybrid Solutions Ceramic spray coating in this test. I just started my own test yesterday on my daily driver. Half of the truck is TW ceramic spray and the other half is DIY ceramic Gloss. Now we wait and see. It’s going to be hard to beat TW.

another channel did Griot's vs TW Hybrid ceramic sprays and the Griot's won easily

So we’ve always said mineral deposits were “clogging” coatings. Is it possible that surfactants are also a factor in clogged coatings? It would explain why it takes a few rinses for water beading to return after contact washing. It may also explain all of the post-soap trickery that gets recommended to restore water beading. IPA rinsing is about to be the next big thing.

Yes surfactants seem to be a big problem with “failing protection” 👍

In my opinion sir, if a car came to my shop with poor water beading as this, I would definitely be applying something stronger to see if I can get the customer through at least several washes!

That’s hilarious that a product that’s been out for years and is readily available at an auto part store is still better than the “specialty” companies products. I’ve actually used Resist on my cars before here in Alabama. It’s a good 6 month spray sealant.

I don’t think they suck, but it just comes to show you how superior coatings are compared to spray sealants. They’re excellent maintenance toppers for coatings, so not all is lost here.

I think you're onto something. sometimes the soap is the "clogging" issue. not just the road grime.

Idk if it's been said. But I think the bottom row probably didn't get a fair shake. Since every detailer wash video you see they all say the bottom 1/4 of the car gets the most road grime, brake dust, etc. and abuse of the whole car. I think they'd all have to be done on the bottom or top of the panel for a fair test. EDIT: As I was typing that, you brought the subject up 🤣

Just my opinion but how about a duplicate test on the ol Cleaner Chevy? 2 different vehicles same test. Don't know if it matters but could be interesting.

This is weird because I always felt like Griot’s clogged easily on me. Maybe I’m crazy or there’s just so many variables.

​@@cliffelmore5834out of curiosity, what soaps did you guys use? I remember thinking the same thing when I was a big fan of Chemical Guys Glossworks. It's the most insane looking soap, but the glossifiers or something just completely crushed Wolfgang 3.0 sealants water behavior. I thought the sealant had died but then I used Reset and it came back to life. Of course I blamed the sealant which is amazing to use by the way and started using seal and shine and meguire's hcw. Now I just stick to to clean car washes that offer zero protection.

Could you do the same test on the other side and maybe do two per panel, maybe the top 4 instead of 6?

Would you consider testing some Jax Wax products? I've been using their products exclusively because they have a retail store in my area, and I've been really happy with them. There isn't much talk online about them, I'd love to see how they hold up against these other brands!

So you inadvertently just increased the sale of Griots 3n1 and car soap😂😂…while showing ADS, Ethos, Apex, DIY, Jimbos and even Labocosmetica might wanna go back to the drawing board😂😂….however in the case of BC3 it’s not a sealant like the other 5 are. Apex has/had a sealant BC2 that would’ve been a more fair comparison.

I’ve used it as stand alone protection with much better results that last up to 2 months. But I would agree that for this test, BC2 would have been the product that more closely matches the claims of the other products for durability. I really like BC2. The hydrophobics are similar to No Hype 1.

Jamie, love your content but nobody has time for that!!! Whatever happened to installing a product, wash it and get on with life if the product was good. You’re doing like 7 steps. Now everything is like “well if the angle is not right “ or “it’s too hot” or “ the moon was not full” the product doesn’t work. The manufacturers are making tooooo many excuses. Been detailing since my teenage years that’s 40+ years and it has never been this bad. Just put fusso coat and don’t worry about the paint for at least the next 6 months. But like I said, love your content except these things.
