The Talai clan traces its origins to the Maasai community. But it is now deeply etched in the customs of the Kalenjin community. It migrated to the Nandi Hills more than 100 years ago. The clan is now a cornerstone of the Kalenjin community. It has gained national prominence by its coronation of leaders. They are called the ‘kingmakers’. Christopher Agui, one of the elders says "William Ruto (Deputy President) will emerge winner (in 2022 General Elections) because he has the blessings of the Talai Community.” He alongside other members of the clan spoke to our reporter in this special feature.
