Do not worry about JJ Redick, worry about Lakers impatience, why Trae Young fits in L.A. | THE HERD

Спорт

The Los Angeles Lakers are hiring JJ Redick to become the franchise's next head coach. This is their eighth head coach (nine if you count one interim coach) in 13 years. Colin Cowherd explains why he is not worried about Redick but the Lakers impatience. Trae Young posted a cryptic tweet shortly after the hire with the hourglass emoji. Colin doubles down on the purple and gold landing the Atlanta Hawks guard and explains why he fits in L.A.

I keep hearing people mention high I.Q., basketball savant, how he's meticulous and driven. Like he's the only individual to possess those qualities. The whole "he can be a playmaker and take that responsibility away from LeBron" is what they said about Russ, and we saw how that worked out. He's a better shooter than Russ, which helps, but I don't think Bron is going to be willing to step away from playmaking. And the defense is rough. AD is great but the team needs more than that, and getting rid of Vandy in this deal would hurt their defense even more. I'd rather focus on getting better role players than another star. This superteam stuff rarely works

The issues the Lakers had was their defense. No point of attack defender, and against the Nuggets they were too small. Can’t expect Rui to guard Jokic for long stretches and if AD is guarding him he has trouble staying out of foul trouble. The line ups were trash under Ham. They paid all that money to Rui, then benched him. That doesn’t make any sense

@@mattmmixesit wasn’t “really racist”. Colin said that the Dominican Republic has a poor educational system. The World Bank, which is globally recognized as the gold standard in education statistics, has the Dominican Republic ranked as one of the worst educational systems in the world. The point Colin made is that since there are so many great Dominican Republic baseball players that clearly baseball is not a “thinking man’s game”, they rely mostly on instincts like a lot of other sports. When a country has such a poor educational system like the Dominican Republic, it would be ignorant to assume that that would not affect people subjected to that.

Can we stop with the lie that Trae Young is an elite 3 point shooter. He is not. His career high 3pt % was 38% in 22-23 and his career average is 35%. The NBA average 3pt % last year was 35%. In other words, Trae Young is average but he shoots a lot and from well beyond the line so we have this false narrative about him. The Lakers should do a hard pass on this guy. We can just keep DLo since neither player plays defense.

The trae young idea is pretty bad if we used that trade proposal. 1) The team is smaller when it comes to height so we are going to get out rebounded by many teams 2) trae salary cap will hurt Lakers finding role players 3) defense is none existing for trae. This would not beat t wolves or denver. Probably would make another play in at best.
