DO NOT USE Hollow/Dry Wall Anchors Like This!

Hollow/dry wall anchors are a great invention and make fixing brackets and other heavy items to a cavity wall easy. Just know how to use them! There are other ways to fix them, which involves special tools, but all you really need is a drill with torque settings and a basic understanding of how they work.

From experience, always use the setting tool to correctly use these anchors. Using the power driver to set them can allow the whole anchor to spin and leave you with a hole bigger than you can use.

My DeWalt on lowest torque setting never spins the anchors and they set flush. There are fancy tools you can use to seat them but I don't have one.

You are meant to use the the hollow wall anchor setting tool. Far quicker and create a flush grip.

Yes, I agree! I bought a setting tool with anchors for my large mirrors and were fantastic but can someone please help me, I’ve been trying to use the same thing to put up my floating shelves but they just keep spinning out and refuse to tighten, I’m beside myself with trying everything to fix it and I just don’t get it!? Can someone please help?? I’d be ever so grateful 😇

@@grahamscott1547 either you are using the wrong collar length anchors so they are not gripping or screws are too short...but without seeing I don't know for sure.

great video - just want to say I have used these for years but always choose genuine Molly fixings - beware of cheaper alternatives - never had one failure - viewers trust me... even if you only have one or two of these to fix... it's well worth buying and using the proper setting tool for peace of mind and a guaranteed result

Great Advice! I will be buying a proper setting tool when I have to use these next time. Makes it much easier. And you have to know what your doing if you use a drill to set them.

I'll use the metal one's next time! Why they made my apartment building in brick is beyond me? Walls are supposedly dry wall unless these something cheaper? I can hear the guy snoring under me! How builders get away with this is a mystery guess in rual areas no one is around to check the work as it's being made? Ventilation goes to the attic cold air return brings me pink dust from the attic! Pretty sure it's not legal and my self came down the next day! Darn

The whole entire video is him just babbling and rambling about unnecessary things he does not get to the point but at 6:50 he accidentally sums it up this video could have been a lot shorter than it is because he just goes on and on and just doesn't make himself clear so watch from 6:50 until 7:18 and that's all you need to know so everything before and after is just a bunch of what seems to be hyperactive rambling maybe when he was a kid in school he was in Special Education classes because he seems to lack comprehension skills even when he's the one doing the explaining 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Special education? Ha, no. I'm currently studying for my Engineering Degree (Honours). I guess this is why I don't put out much videos, because, as you have confirmed, I come across badly in this video, and in general as well. But I do have great technical abilities. Shame you have no content to compare mine with. Kinda makes your comment a total waste. Thanks for the time stamps though. Enjoy your day 😎
