The problem with local dimming for me, is when you're in a dark area in a game, if there's some Bright highlights, they become really dim, because the whole backlight is lowered.

Is there a possibility to reset a firmware update on a Gigabyte monitor? I have the M32U and updated from F02 to F10 and the input lag is better but the overall image quality is much worse. I have gamma, contrast and brightness issues and colors are more glowing in brighter and darker scenes. When I start a game from the menu on the PS5 the screen gets crazy bright.

You say it is almost VA like ips panel if You set your black equalizer right? could You elaborate please? what settings should i use for more contrast?

I only get the brightness "bug" when HDR is enabled, on SDR local dimming doesn't make a difference (and I do have F07)

still happy with the m28u! you can update to f10 and still keep the brightness, you must save your monitor settings on F07, and reload your save after the F10 Update.

u can reroll the firmware update with the osd sidekick by downloading the 07 firmware

How exactly would you downgrade to f07 on consoles like the ps5?

How can you check the firmware version via the monitor settings? Also I don't own a PC

Hey Im trying to update my M28U i can run the OSD sidekick and see my monitor and adjust settings in there but on monitor firmware section i can browse and add the firmware but nothing happens when i press update, any ideas??

Hey vic, was about to pick this one up at micro center the other day. My LG 32gq850, had issues, it was stuck out putting a 4k signal???? I dont understand how it is possiable, but a pop would appear that that I was using the wrong res, and that I need to change to 4k???? Took it back and was about to push the button on this, but then I seen that they had the the lg-32gq950. went with that one. Good info for the people that own this monitor, wanted to give it a try, but IO like LG, even thou they have Qc issues at times.

If you did already update it, you can just reupdate the firmware to an older version and revert it back.

the advantage of f08 and f10 is more contrast it seems to me

the sidekick totally can't update the firmware at all now, anybody having the same issue

Hey i got a question On my Gigabyte M28U, on white, green and red backgrounds, the image is very blurry or seems like there are a lot of small dots in that area (all over the screen) that are smeared, they are not dead pixels. When I move the camera in certain games, it looks like there is a layer at the top that moves with it. I've tried a few things, e.g. Wiping the monitor with a microfiber cloth but that didn't help. Maybe someone has a solution or the same problem. Thanks in advance.

I used glass cleaner one time I know that that is not good for a monitor but idk if its because of that

i bought the monitor it had the 08 Update, i downgraded to 07 and its so much better, i love the brightness its so much better, can you tell me your settings for the Monitor ?

How do you know which firmware you are running? I just bought an M28U for use on PS5. I don't have a reliable Windows computer and this is my first monitor so I have no idea what I'm doing 😂

i just bought this monitor and it came with f11 firmware. It is bright as well. I don't know for sure if it's 500 nits but it seems brighter than my 400 nits dell

Hey, awesome video. Is it possible to downgrade the firmware? I recently bought the m28u and it was shipped with firmware F08. Edit: i did manage to downgrade/rollback to F07 from F08 with osd sidekick software!

@@Alex-to4izI just did it and it’s night and day difference in brightness. You can roll back to f07 then update to f10 and keep the brightness but you have to save the settings on f07 firmware the upgrade to f10. Learned this on reddit how to do it. It’s literally a detailed guide on how to do the brightness bug glitch.

Hi, I don't own M28U yet but I'm planning to buy it. I see on earlier videos on KZread or web that this monitor has high input lag where as in a video compared to samsung monitor, samsung one was buttery smoot but in m28u you can feel the "input lag". But that video was 8-9 months old. So I'm wondering and seeing on the Gigabyte site that Gigabyte released F07 firmware update that states it "improved performance and reduced input lag". Do you agree? Do you feel this input lag like 8-9 months ago or is it gone?

I think I know the videos you saw, and I don't understand that person's perspective. According to Rtings who test products thoroughly, determined that they both have pretty much identical input lag

My beloved M28U might not be the brightest around but for me, only inner values count.

Hey Parasite! :) The brightness does to me introduce the slower backlight. So its a give and take. Tho so much value plus that 2.1 port makes it awesome. Thx for the patreon I appreciate my friend..

My M28u restarts about every 1 hour without any reason. Changed C13 and Hdmi Cable. Firmware F10. Do you have any idea what I could do?

@@florent5235 I have found the solution now, the restart happens if I turn off/ on a lightswitch in my house. Seems to be the a problem with electricity of my house, not the monitor.

Great! Some are reporting lower brightness on f10. Good to see yours comes bright and you have that option if ever needed.

No this only is for the m28u. The m32u is stable with all firmwares.

M28u has alot of firmwares fixing alot of things. I dont have the acer to compare. But so far everyone loves the m28u and m32u.

I updated. How can I revert to version f07? please help.

I am on F10 and the brightness for the normal usage is too high, I have to lower it to 20 to do not burn my eyes (on 60Hz, not sure it would be better on 144Hz)

It fixes a couple of small issues with connections. But nothing major. The real sdr update is or was f07. Now gigabyte has removed the 500nits brightness increase it seems as ppls have commented on newer firmware

I'm not able to get 120fps on m28u I'm playing games on ps5 but it still showing 60fps can u tell me how to fix it ??

If you have no issues and are happy dont upgrade. Some say going to f07 they can see the new brightness while others dont. Maybe look on reddit : fo7 firmware or rollback
