Im building my setup, oled 4k Sony tv, Apple tv 4K, and 2 homepods! all I ever need.

I agree I just got one and you need another to have the music really loud

no regrets on buying a stereo pair when they first came out you can't beat computational audio, the stereo imaging is simply heaven I'm talking sound quality over a digital assistant, they play nice with the new M chip devices and rock with my projector

I had 2 stereo pairs of the original homepods, (which I got rid of when they refused to play nice thanks Apple) but you are right.. they really sound amazing as stereo pairs even rivaling my mackie HR824 studio monitors! So in the uk thats £600 for 2, not too bad really.

i have a mac mini m2, can you put in mac mini m2 mac os system two homepods together as a stereo pair..

Can you paired 4 Homepods Gen 2 together in the same room and have them all play together at the same time? Trying to do 2 in front by the tv and 2 in the back for a full all around sound.

Unfortunately it won't do surround. Only stereo and two at a time. You could group two speakers and add a third but they would be mono.

Thanks for the video. I am wondering if the homepod will work in conjunction with a (non-Apple) home AV receiver that has bluetooth, or does it only work in conjunction with the Apple TV box?

Our midnight pair arrived on Monday. Under our tv, the sound really is better, and it’s great to have the temp/humidity sensors in our living room (and the Matter connectivity.) The midrange is still a little sucky…but it and spoken word/dialogue are both noticeably better, and everything is less muddy. The bass is definitely more balanced, too. Siri though is just a shit show right now-again-and I wonder if that’s because Apple is getting ready to push out the big HomeKit architecture update that they pulled a few months ago?

@@PatrickRambles Well, we finally got the Apple HomeKit upgrade, and while we still like the sound of our HomePod 2’s, and our Apple Home responds more quickly now when it hears us via the new HomePods…the fewer microphones on the new HomePods over the past month and a half has meant that they are now only 50/50 likely to understand a damned thing we say to them. I’ve bounced back and forth between the Apple and Google ecosystems two round trips over the past decade, and I’m not going anywhere now. But the shitshow of Apple software and services over the past few years has got to get better at some…doesn’t it???

If the advantage or strong point, compared to other smart speakers, is audio quality, buying the best possible wifi/Bluetooth speaker or a pair of HiFi bookshelf connected to an amplifier makes more sense. i also wonder why Siri is so behind.

Just one information. The transfert of music from iPhone to HomePod (mini or not) doesn’t work ONLY with Apple Music. I’m using Deezer and it works perfectly. I can also ask Siri to launch music or playlist and it uses Deezer by default It seems it a Spotify decision to not implement this function, probably because they have been launch a war against Apple

Thanks! I wasn't aware that it's only spotify. I don't use any of the other services so I made an incorrect assumption that it was another one of Apple's exclusivity measures.

Hi Patrick, thanks for the really useful information on the home pods. One of these was on my list to buy, but now I think I’ll have to reconsider. Not sure I need two, and although Alexa may not sound as good, she probably outperforms the pod in all other areas. Food for thought. Will need to have a think on this one.

How to control in iPhone background sound - rain, stream etc ON and OFF using AirPods Pro #2 ? without manually touching the iPhone for ON and OFF background sound from control centre. When I workout in gym I listen to it using my AirPods Pro #2 , but I cannot OFF it using AirPods Pro #2 . Is there a way to OFF it in AirPods itself without manual intervention going to iPhone control centre every time ?

Yes, you can AirPlay any audio from your Apple devices to the HomePod, including KZread audio

I ‘m thinking the same thing, I ordered 1 and instantly regretted not ordering a 2nd at the same time. Now I’m just waiting for apple to catch up with orders and get the 2nd unit to me.

The heavy bass is an Apple Music issue - I use it with Tidal, and it sounds so much better.

I have 2 HomePod mini’s and I love them but the connectivity is sometimes 🤐🤬. Sometimes they connect immediately and another moment none of the 2 or just 1 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have 1 in the bedroom and 1 in the living room. In the bedroom I have a WiFi amplifier so why do they have a problem with connecting?

It’s crazy , takes it from meh to wow.

I never had the original but have bought 1 of the new ones for my back room. Sounds pretty good with the TV and PS5 hooked up. Not sure if i need 2 in such a small space but as my wife is kicking me out of my man cave down to the garage, another one may be needed!

if you want stereo sound you have to get 2 homepods, since a single homepod is mono audio.

I have a crazy set up. (Because I can/wanted to if you want to know why.) I have 12 HomePod gen1s in my bedroom surrounding my bed (all in pairs of 2) 2 front center/top front/bottom front/middle/back bottom/back top. Crazy 😁 On top of that,...I have a Sonos Arc with the two front centers (the arc sits in front of the two HomePods), and two Era 300's with the back speakers. I really like the sound. I have to play with the individual volumes to get it just right (wish there was a program to do it automatically) but other than that....I like it. Crazy and unique. The setup, using a Wii2, can also be paired with any sub that has a coax, RCA input, or optical input.

My goal is to get four. Two for the living room two for the bedroom

If positioned at the right distance yes they do and they really sound up to par with the high end systems.

you can ask alexa to play a song on spotify but it wont play ( tried it 3 times ) Siri did it with apple music out a hitch.

Maybe do a comparison of 2 homepods with a Devialet speaker and see what is better and value for money…

A pair... More Cupertino 'genius' and that's why the relaunch to dongle Apple TV/media (the subscription services). 🧐🤑

One of the reason I take these reviews with a pinch of salt- never dis a product and till you try and understand the product

For less than $600 I could get a much better surround system such as the Vizio M series elevate, for example.

Nope. One sounds really good. Place it in one spot and leave there for a couple days. The HomePod will adjust and sound Amazon even with one.

We bought 2 for our family room…we don’t watch a lot of TV…but they sound nice. I have a pair of the minis in our bedroom…my wife likes that. The sound quality on the HomePods are nice. We are empty nesters…but we still have a a lot of Apple devices between my wife and me (3 laptops, 1 4K Mac, 4 iPads, several 4K Apple TVs and a few phones). If we weren’t in the eco system I’d probably have purchased a different system.

Yeah I watch maybe 1 1/2 hours of tv every day or so. We have a horse farm, so I do watch Gunsmoke every night. Haha.

This smart speaker is better than anyting google and alexa have to offer hands down.

Apple should offer a bundle offer to incentivize people to buy 2 😊

Sorry Patrick I am just using your video as a source to get people's help & advice I bought a HomePod online but received a wrong color so, I went to the store to get it exchanged but they didn't had it so I just took a gift card, I some how miss place the apple gift card but had a receipt of it so I went to the store, it seem the person who had found it had loaded into his iTunes account & even made a purchase, the Apple Store manager give me a number to call as this case would be escalated, when I call the number they tell me that the gift card issue is only handle at the store, so this when back & forwarded for days & finally the last person I spoke to said it will take a week for them to issue a new one, so today after 14 days I call to see the statues of it & they completely deny to give me any replacement, well they never told me that before as I was talking to them for days. Now I really some good advice how to get my money back. Thanks

You can, but they will be added as regular speakers. In other words, we can't create a full blown surround system using home pods.

When you did the update and said “ sorry guys you can, in fact handoff from Spotify” Why didn’t you mention all the other music services like KZread music, etc.? Are we just supposed to assume we can, or can’t, handoff with those?

i have a ipod mini that i don’t even use so i know i’m not getting the big one

Instead of saying do not get a wildly popular product, enjoyed by many people, try to figure out where the problem lies. It's either a user error or a faulty unit. There is a solution to both.

I would strongly disagree on getting on getting two because i did the left and right with the mini's and you cannot ask siri to turn on the light for example

Good review, always appreciate your perspective. Man, $600 to make them worth the purchase!? Sounds like another swing and a miss for Apple, unless you just have a lot of disposable income. I’ll stick with my AirPod Pro 2s.

Yeah it's definitely a pricey affair.

I doubt anybody would reply to me. But I’m a blind man and I live in the basement. I used to love my echo Studios, but ever since I upgraded to the Apple HomePod and the Apple TV my experience has been miserable. I live in a basement so there’s an extender. I have more glitches with the system. Sometimes Siri would not respond to my request. Sometimes Only one of them will play then I would have to reset them over and over and over again. Sometimes I would have to unpaired them and pair them again. If anybody could assist me, that would be wonderful.

see, i just set the voices on my siri mini homepod and amazon echo to male - now they they just agree with each and suggest getting a beer.

Siri is the best I have use in smart speakers.

We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning kzread.infoUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

alexa sucks i hate all my amazon devices. never had google cause not fond of their spying.

I am sure the HomePod is great, but no thanks, I still won't buy either the HomePod or the HomePod Mini. I will stick with regular Bluetooth speakers that have no issues with non-apple devices.

I’m just curious. Why is it stated as fact that the original HomePod was discontinued because of poor sales? Did Apple ever say that was the case or actual sales numbers verified? Sales may have been less than predicted, but even assuming that’s the case, it doesn’t necessarily mean it was the reason to discontinue.

@@DeesBees85 it is possible that they discontinued the product in order to re-manufacturer the device because so many of the first generation HomePods had reliability problems and expensive repairs. The new model appears to be more easily repairable. I don’t know if this is the cause, but there are other possibilities more than poor sales being a reason to discontinue a product. The fact that the new generation has much of the same design and feature set certainly makes the above rationale a likely explanation. 🤷🏾‍♂️

i havent got a homepod or smart accessories as such but i just got a EVE window and door sensor and installed it and use home app and eve app and still dont get notifications sent to my iphone when doors been opened or closed. its stressing me out and i cant find the answer ive watched many videos ive watched set up videos and everything for days and still cant get the flipping answer. HOME APP/HOME SETTINGS/NOTIFICATIONS- NOT FLIPPING THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! CANT SEE IT OR SELECT IT. no one can confirm do i need a home hub pod mini thingy to get notifications sent? theres no way EVE connects to a wifi within settings. because the flow would be door sensor- homepod- wifi- then to my phone. please help me if u can please bro.

@@PatrickRambles i should be receiving my homepod mini today so hopefully that sorts it out. i can see in eve app and home app that it senses open and closed door, but once i black screen iphone and open door i get no notifications. i just find the homepod mini to be something i wouldnt really use, i dont need speaker and i dont use siri that much even tho i got iphone 14 pro and gold series 7 apple watch. i say to siri. hey siri is my door open, it says its closed when i have it open. stupid lol.
