Just look at the 3000 series. They are nearly as expensive as the 4000 series. So the launch of the 5000 won't instantly cause a drop in price for 4000. That and scalpers and inventory means that any 5000 series that launches will take 6 months minimum to get into most people's hands.

If you can find them look at the rx 6000 series. For example the rx 6800 has been around for under 400 lately new. Glad I got a 6800xt late last year for 440.

What are you on about?? you can readily pick up a 3090 for £600-£650, that card was £1200+ before the 4000 series, and dropped soon after, the reason the lower in the stack has kept its value is demand, eg. throw a small overclock on a 3060 and you have a 4060 with 12gb vram and no frame gen and for £260, its a no brainer.

I want to build a new PC as I run triple 1440 for sim racing. Do I take the plunge for 4090 & 14th gen or wait it out for 5080/5090 & 15th gen. I'm currently running 8700k with 1080ti. So it'll be a huge upgrade now, but would others with more knowledge on this wait another 4 months or so?

Hoping price to performance gets a significant improvement in the near future as things have been stagnant for way too long. my 3060 which I've only had for 2 years is already having to make compromises at 1080p to get a 60+fps in newer games. I have to pay around double the price to get a newer "mid range" card

Well might as well bury those hopes. The graphics market saw people paying double or more for scalped video cards so they saw the market could handle increased prices. Blame all of those people for paying well above MSRP for today’s prices.

good advice and here is another thing you might want to consider, the halving happened a few hours ago and the crypto cycle is starting again, it wont happen overnight and nothing is guaranteed but gpu scarcity might come back "soon"

Depends on what you are trying to do. For 4k gaming the 4090 is plenty fast, and buying now will save you 4-6 months of waiting.

I would say YES for sure. Theres no question that the 5090 is gonna have even higher MSRP - not to mention actually higher prices because of scalperes and demand. At the moment we are in the situation where the new gen doesn't just replace the last gen with roughly the same prices but the new gen is way more expensive meaning that the last gens prices won't drop asmuch. Now if the new card costs same then you probably won't be able to get it for a long time. If its way more expensive a lot people then go for the 4090 and the ones allready having them won't sell them. The outcome is same - the demand for the 4090 raises and the price won't drop. Best deal would be to get second hand card from someone who is thinking of getting 5090 and selling their 4090 now for good price in fear of 5080 being faster for a 1300$ - so they are willing to selle the 4090 for like 1300 or even less. Its a far fetch but that would be the best deal.

Well if the card is doing what you need then don't buy end of story ... the longer you wait the more bang for money you will get ... if you need to upgrade for realistic reasons then do so ... even if it be second hand

I bought that same 1060 only because my HD7950 died. After that the RTX3060 and only now I need an upgrade and only then because GTFO is badly optimised, but such a great great game. Maybe 4070Ti. But intend to not replace it for a loooong time. Need to keep it like the 7950.

Not sure if you have a 4080 or 4090 (unless you are worried about the power connector lol). Of course if you wanna hit 240hz at UUW...

I just hope the 5080 is 1000 or under and fits in my itx build.

I'm currently running a 6700 XT. I was planning on buying 7900xtx at the end of the month to pair with my 7800x3d. (Couldn't afford high end GPU when i built my system so tossed in my old GPU) Should I wait until the 5080/5090 comes out or just buy the 7900xtx. Edit: I'm a Twitch streamer, I find myself maxing out the 12GB of vram pretty frequently. Typically i have to compromise on graphic settings due to vram overload. I do have a 3 monitor setup.

There's no reason to wait because Nvidia have us by the balls. Lovelace won't get price cut, while the 5080 will still offer a narrow bus width and only 16gb vram for only 1300$. And people will buy it anyway. I hate this clown world.

Some like to just stay behind one series just to scoop up the good prices. I almost pulled the trigger on the 7900XT when it had rebate making it $649. Could keep it til the 6000 series came out and got the 5080 on sale.

You should always wait for the next thing. I've been waiting since 1980 to get a new PC and my Sinclair ZX80 is still kick it at a blazing 3.25Mhz. I've got my tape drive for loading all the latest games like _Zork_ and its inspiration _Adventure._ That game is so advance you'll only find it on college mainframes.

Already got 7900XTX in 4K primary PC, and an used 3090 for 2K spare PC (since AMD driver sucks). I should be fine for the next few years.

If you're buying your parts individually-one at a time every paycheck like me.. then set your GPU to last to purchase. It's summer rn, so by fall you'll know if the new cards at the hopefully same price is better

How about this? You dont always have to buy the highest tier. Thats a much higher risk when closing on the newest tier. 4070 super is pretty good value right now.

Yes you can Hold, yes there will be new products around the corner and will be better, but think about life, you dont even know what will happen next day, so get what you can afford and enjoy. I bought a 4070super just now and enjoy every minute of it, you can buy anything but not time, dont look back in couple years and start regreating the HOLDS you did today.

Honestly, I appreciate the Coverage on this Video, as I'm looking to get something close to Flagship without actually being one. I'm upgrading from a GT 1030, as it was a Placeholder / Backup GPU for a Previous GPU that I ended up selling due to Financial Hardship hitting me sooner than expected. Right now, I'm deciding between a 6900 XT, 6950 XT, and the New 7900 GRE. I'm also dealing with Size Limitations, as the Phanteks P300 Limits my GPU Size to No Larger than 320mm. I'm leaning towards the Powercolor 7900 GRE Fighter, since it's only 290mm Long but still has Triple Fans.

Im waiting to see if the 4060 ti 16gb gets near 300 range, im not seeing these cards sell. They have always been in stock everywhere. I could use it as a backup card and hack it since its expendable

Same, I just ordered a 4070 super for 720 usd (euro prices). I can sell my 3070 for 370 usd on the used market. So its not that much money and I get a 50% boost or more with FG.

So I found someone locally selling there 4090 Card and I ended up giving them $900 cash and my RTX3090 card for it. I felt like it was a good deal. Only reason I even wanted to get the card was because, I ordered that Pimax Crystal Light headset and I wanted the best performance I could get. The 5090 card isn't a for sure thing. All Rumors. So if it is released this year. It still won't be available. Because, all the scalpers will buy em up and turn around and sell em for 2x or 3x over MSRP which will probably be overpriced already. So I figured, $900 out of pocket for a 4090 card is good. 😉👌☺️👍

I am without a system. Sold my old my old system, 4070ti, 5800x3d. Ddr4 32gb, b450 etc for £1600. So i have that much to spend on a new build. So far i am on track to make a 7800x3d, 4080 super, ddr5 32gb system for £1775. But i dont know whethet yo cheap out and get a 6800 xt. 4070 super or something for now. I would be interested for 2x performance over my RX6650XT, then I would still not like power draw jump. I don't expect performance per watt double.👈 Also the reason to go for faster gpu would be probably upgrade from 1440p to 4K which I think is not really a must.👈 Both games I play are online, one of them doesn't even have resolution settings, the other one is competitive, so going for 4K is not good idea. AMD Adrenaline doesn't currently offer RSR in my game, no idea what happened during drivers updates. 👀 Anyway I am interested what next gen going to be both upcoming gpus and cpus. (I hope Intel brings answer to AMD R5 7500f/7600 but better value, it interested pay 2x more for 2x performance over my i3-10100f 😅 That cpu simply frozen my interest even into AMD best value. 12400f doesn't seem that optimal 2x uplift to wow after upgrade.

Buy a used GPU. Got an rtx 4080 that OCs very well for only $750 USD. Rtx 5000 series wont beat that price to performance rario so im set with my OLED G8. I'll get the rtx 6090 when it comes out but until then im very happy

I'd also like to mention the influence of Rona in 40 series. There is no longer a chip shortage now due to Rona. So, it's only going to be better. No one seems to notice this.

Yeah I think RTX 5060 could be summer 2025(if it's a repeat of RTX 4060 release).

New rumors that Nvidia will launch with the 5080 first. I hope this isn’t true but I feel it probably is. They want those Blackwell full dies for AI & datacenter where they get huge margins. Once they have enough binned chips they will release the 5090, probably 1st quarter 2025.

Buy what you can comfortably afford now if you need a new card and play the games you want to now. There will always be something newer & faster coming out.

As long as nvidia insists on 12VHPWR connector that's an automatic don't buy which is fine by me because they are overpriced anyways. RX7000 is first generation chiplets. You never buy first gen tech. First gen always has problems. Second gen fixes the major problems. Third gen is when it finally becomes decent enough to consider. There's absolutely no rush to buy and plenty of reasons to wait.

I'm just waiting for RDNA5...

With nvidia prices, im only looking at amd and intel. But they are still expensive for the performance offered. Nvidia n AMD want to shift the mass market for the 500$ price point. Clear as water. Amd Radeon is down 50% revenue for the quarter. They have to offer something competitive in order to increase revenue. I am waiting.

im still smiling on my 4090 , i might wait til at least 1 year to upgrade since i got what i need out of this card.

I did the same thing. I got it 2nd hand for $950 for a PNY 4080 Super. Guy had it for a couple weeks and I got to save the tax and a couple dollars under MSRP. At the price I got it for I have no complaints. Nice upgrade from my 3080.

@@adamtajhassam9188Smart choice, try to save up and get the 5090 if you want it before selling the 4090. Trust me having no GPU for months would be horrible because of low supply and scalpers.

There's a better reason for keeping your old card: AI. NVidia is full on this new trend, and nobody knows where the market is going to be in a few years, starting from now. Announced CPUs are getting a NPU. Also a high amout of productivity software is now using AI routines (mind of Davinci Resolve, Premiere, Photoshop, 3D software, etc) and even games probably will benefit of a good AI processing unit. This means that we are living a paradigm change, so may be new GPUS are not about brute power, but AI oriented market, and what that brings to the gaming world. For example, as rumors say, GTA6 will make broad usage of AI routines to control NPCs in the game, and that single fact could make old cards directly unplayable, or even current gen medium range cards may be the bare minimum to run that kind of games. So with that in mind, I'll wait to see what direction software and game developers are taking for the next 1, 2 or even 3 years.

I'll sale my kidney for the 5090 and then get on a kidney transplant list because I sold my other one a few years ago for my 4090!

I held onto my 4790K / GTX 1080 / SATA3 SSD combo until this month. Still running the GTX 1080, but swapped it to the 12400F, DDR5 6000, and an NVme M.2 SSD. This brought enough new life to sit back and wait on what is coming down the road for GPUs. I think in total, I spent about $425 for everything.

I'm debating doing this too. My build is almost 8 years old and still works well with a GTX 1070 FE, but my i5 6600k and the MB is starting to face its limits.

@@roguesquadron521 Being a Founder's Edition, I would think that would do just as well or better than my GPU. I went with a mild upgrade in my opinion, but it runs so much smoother, faster, and better yet... cooler. Doesn't use as much power, too. Today is a hot day, I have been able to game all day with the CPU max temperature always below 60 DEG C, the GPU around 55 DEG C, MoBo temp about mid 50s DEG C. I am running the cooler that came with the CPU, but put an aftermarket cooler on the GPU, Morpheus II, which dropped that almost 35-40 DEG C. The computer is no longer a space heater.

Did you buy the 12400F used or new? What price? A CPU, RAM, SSD and logically also a motherboard, all for $425, that's really good.

@@roguesquadron521 I'm running a decent AIB GTX 1070 and an R5 3600. It makes sense that your CPU is starting to show its age. If you are happy with the GPU I would look for used or really really cheap new mobo and CPU. AM4 is a great platform to get onto and you can keep your RAM. I am running RAM that is almost 10 years old.

Whats the hate on 4060? Just deal with it, dlss is so much better for fps boost, secondly having ultra settings in cod at 4k wont make you any better if you dont have skills, thirdly even tho its expensive, if you cant buy it, get the previous gen, the wattage is a lot lower than 3000 series. They've got to be on the eco side as well, its an SDG goal cant do non....

The only way we will see +80% is if you count fake frames as performance, which it definately is not, especially for the lower end. Fake frames are only useful over 60 fps and that is when you care more about input latency, which fake frames do not improve, rather the opposite. If Radeon does not compete Nvidia will follow Intels 14nm +++++++ strategy. $1799 RTX5090 at +10% over the RTX4090.

I don't think battlemage will be able to compete with rtx50xx. RDNA4 won't have flagship cards. I recommend skipping rtx50xx completely and wait for RDNA5 if you already have a good enough card.
