Do NOT assume that the hex set screw of your shower handle is stripped!
Спорт
Before you conclude that the Allen screw of your shower handle is stripped, please watch this video. Don't make the mistake as I made. Thankfully I realized that the inner hole is the actual Allen screw and it came out in no time. Thank you Jesus!

Thank you for the encouragement. I needed it!
Great tip. I love the "Thank you Jesus!" comment
Yes Amazing. I was just getting ready to try and Drill and or Snap off the handle. Amazing just tapped in the T15 and impact took it right out. "Thank you Jesus!"

OMG, really????
This was the 5th video I watched about removing a stripped set screw after I just installed a new trim kit and already messed up the set screw and was about to start trying a few methods. After seeing your vid I went to try once more but this time I tried hex bits, but they were too wide to reach the screw through the handle hole. So I tried a different allen wrench set from my same tool kit and soon realized the 2nd set had one that fit better than the first allen wrench set and the screw came right out 🎉 Literally just now finished and ran back here to Thank YOU and thank Jesus!!!!!!!😄😄😄🙏
This is the only video that solved my problem! I watched a lot but none of the others explain how to deal with this type of screw. Actually, I did not even know this was a screw. Some call this a button so I thought you need to push it. But, your short video is worth 100 others. Thank you!
Got ours out in 1 min after struggling for an hour! Finally got smart and KZreadd it and found your tip. Thank you very much!! 👍
Thank you! It worked! I thank Jesus that I found your video! 😇
Outstanding video!! It saved me a lot of time because I had no idea how I was going to remove this screw.
Awesome! For a year my shower has been leaking. I tried everything. Thank you so much.
Almost gave up until I read your post, God bless!
2 years later and you saved me as well, thanks for this
Praise Jesus, I gave up already, then had to try again since newborn baby can't stand the occasional cold shower. Your method worked, though I tried a bigger bit after almost completely drill through the set screw. Who in their right mind would design such a pain in the rear!? If you have a water softener installed, this is a must happen, since there is added salt in the water. PRL for your video! I was praising Jesus with my brother in law in the bathroom after taking out the screw. Haven't been this happy for so long!
Thank you! You saved me at least $17 for the handle, and $70 for the cartridge! Plus, there wasn't much cleanup, and I know exactly which screw to replace because it is still in-tact. I'm so glad you posted this video and I found it!

This made my day! I have been having some difficult days.
You are a smart man. Thank you for sharing this. VERY HELPFUL! THANK YOU JESUS! Much peace ✌🏻
Hell yes, thank you very much. We used a T-10 in the end and it came right out with the driver. Thanks again.
Thank you for this video. Stripped it with a regular Allen but used a micro bit 3/32 Allen on a 1/4 Ryobi impact driver and it came right out
Your technique worked for me. Bravo, and tks for making the video. As a footnote, I will emphasize supporting the handle when you hammer in the bit, to avoid breaking the cartridge.
Just ran into the same situation on the same fixture style. Appreciate the video homey. Tomorrow I will try the torque bit and see.
Thank you Jesus for this video ! Thank you for posting, saved me from the destroying half the bathroom trying to removed this screw.
Thank you so much! Screw came right out, now I need to figure out how to remove the stuck handle 😂
Thank you Jesus! T15 tapped in solved the problem in less than a minute. You are a genius!
Thank You, I found an old T15 Torx screwdriver and came out easily. This was after much frustration of using my old Allen wrench set and no luck, than going out and buying a new Allen/hex wrench set with different sizes and still no luck. Than I watched your video and tried a T 15 Torx screwdriver and came out so easy. Appreciate you.
Thank you so much sir. This out of all other videos helped me in a pinch!
Nice tip.. I was struggling for a few days trying to get it out with a allen key. with the torx screw t15 i was able to unscrew in 5 mins. Thanks for tip. Saved me a few $$.. May God bless you abundantly for sharing this tip.
Thanks Anil! Your solution worked for me, (using a T15 and some WD40, since even the correct hex key did not work). So thanks to you I can now replace my Moen shower handle/trim.
Dear Anil, I called home warranty guys but they were unable to unscrew the same, I bought the drill bit you mentioned and in 3 minutes, screw came out. Home Warranty guys said that need to cut the handle and then he will be able to replace the cartridge. Thanks and appreciated your help here. Stay Blessed. I am your big fan

You are welcome. I see from your KZread handle that you are a fisherman. We are beginners at fishing and are looking to improve our skills so maybe we can learn from you 😀
thank you sir for your video. I am now doing the exact same thing. I wish I saw this video before this; however, thank you for including your fix in getting it out. I will try that tomorrow.
OMFreaking Gosh. I just spent an hour trying to unscrew the darn thing, also thinking it was stripped. Thank god I found your video. I just unscrewed the damn thing. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Thank you for posting this video! It saved me so much time and headache!
You’re an angel brother thank you for the video. I just ran into the same thing. I tried your trick and it worked. Thanks again.
Very nice! Thank you for posting!
Genius!! Same problem and same solution - worked!!! Thank you!!🙏
Wow, my faucet as been leaking for a few months but i didnot want to break it....i wanted to install shutoff valves first in case i had some issues getting replacement parts. You video is giving me hope. I will try again ontuesday when i get my set of torx delivered
Great video! Thanks for the tips. I was actually able to get mine out with an Allen wrench - metric size 3mm. I couldn't believe it.

Yes, it is misleading having the actual screw recessed inside. I wonder how many people watched all those videos of how to drill out a stuck Allen screw, and followed them - unnecessarily.

Unbelievably helpful, thank you!
You are wonderful!!Thank you! I wasted so much time watching other videos that didn’t resolve the issue and you delivered the fix in only 1:43 !!! (not 8+ minutes)
THANK YOU SO MUCH💞🙌🏾PRAISE GOD I DID IT. I ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS stripped. That t15 bit did the trick.
Wow! Tried everything and your solution is the only one that works. Indeed the hex key part of the screw head may be stripped, but inside, beyond that , the T15 bit will fit snugly. A bit of penetrating oil and out it came! Many thanks sir!!!

can you elaborate what penetrating oil is?
I'm nearly certain this will solve my issue. I was trying allan wrenches but your shower handle looks just like mine. Thank you!!
Thank you very much for this excellent video!
Thank you. You saved me. I was about to drill it out. This trick worked!!
Thank you for thanking Jesus and for this video! Exactly what I was thinking- that the set screw was stripped.. I am thanking Him too and hopefully I'll be thanking Him more when I fix it.
This was great! Thank you so much for this Tip!!!
Love this little video. Thank you Jesus
Very helpful. Thanks brother!
HELPFUL. I GOT MINE OUT WITH A TORX BIT AS YOU SUGGESTED. THANK YOU
Thank you Jesus!
Absolutely. This video saved me from some serious headache. The T-15 bit worked like a charm. However I did not have to hammer mine in. It fit perfectly and I had it out in a matter of moments. Yes agreed the thank Jesus part was the best

Did you replace it with a new set screw?
Wow I did had no idea what to do I almost broke the fuacet but then I saw your post post a lifesaver I went down one from what you did but it worked
When I already lost all my faith and was about to drill the f*** handle to get the screw out, then your video brings me back to life!. Thanks, it works perfect, but we aware I have used a power tool, slowly and steadily, I also pour a drop of 3in1 oil (wd40) on the screw 10 minutes before. I doubt it will work fine with manual tools. I have tried first with the Allen wrench 7/64 (fit better) and all of the metric and SAE combinations.
Thank you so much!!! And definitely thank you Jesus!!! You saved me from having to drill out the screw. Your recommendation to use the T15 adapter is what did it. I tried the T15 to no avail. Then I decided I may as well try the next smaller size...and it worked! I was able to get the screw out a little bit, and then had to go back to using the hammered-in T15. HAPPY DANCE!!! ❤❤❤ Now gotta figure out how to get the cartridge puller to work, lol.

Thank you so much this was very helpful ✨
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the video!! It really helped
Thanks Anil!
thanks Anil. will check it out
I was having issues with this as well then when I ordered this kit , I came to do the job and realized there was never a hex screw in there in the first place in my situation at least , previous tenants probably took it out or was never installed .
Oh my god thank you so much for this video!!
you are on smart and special man
Thanku brother , saved me a lot of expenses.
Yes saved my a s s I could not find and thing down their , thank you so much
Thank you. Will give it a try.
Good for you sir
Thanks. I might be thanking Jesus later too!🤣
Thank you
Thank you..works well!
Great idea, trying it tomorrow
This helped me out. I thought it was stripped as well. 😂

I'm going to try this. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. Amen.
I got it! Thank Anil!
Thankyou so much
Thank you jesus and thank you anil Philip
Thank you. I couldn't see in there..
Just a heads up, some set screws are a standard SAE hex and some are metric. If one doesn't work, try the other.
THANK YOUUUU!!!
Dude. Saved me
Works!!! Thanks
Use the key that comes with cartridge 1222 or 1255 and it will work like a charm.
even though I’ve not tried it! I want to vote this video as TopTen helpful KZread vid
Also keep trying a smaller size! On my it turned out to be 2.5 metric….
Smart thank you
God bless you….
Headed to Menards right now! 👌
You saved my marriage! We were sure it was never going to come out

Lol 😀
Use the right Allen wrench first.
after hammering the bit into the screw, were you able to put the same screw back into the hole of the handle?
Mine striped but will be trying this tomorrow! Otherwise new hands it is haha
Whoever decided to use these screws on faucets must have a special place in hell
How did you get the one you thought was stripped out?
Unfortunately, on my American Standard shower handle, this didnt work for me. However, I ordered a new cartridge which comes with a hex key that fits right into the set screw. I'd gone from hours scratching my head to loosening the set screw in seconds with the hex key. If you cant get the set screw out and its not stripped, it might be better to get a new catridge/handle assembly from your tub's manufacturer and use the tool that comes with it for the set screw.
1/8th inch allen wrench. I turned the bath/show water faucet on, which put the allen screw hole straight up. (Warning, CLR will burn skin) Then I squirted some 'CLR' Calcium Lime Rust remover product into the allen screw hole and left it for some time to clean the gunck out of the allen screw hole. Use a jewelers straight blade screw driver or a cotter pin to clean out the calcium from inside the allen wrench hole. I turned on the flexbile hose shower head to then use some water spray to clean the 'CLR' style acid out of the allen screw hole. 1/8th inch Allen wrench was my size that fit the hole. Another person below used a 7/64 size allen wrench. This was for an American Delta faucet. Don't know if 3 mm allen wrench works for other Delta Faucet.
See that blue on your screw. That's locktite. It's basically dried nail polish, gluing screw into place. Needed a solvent first, and then some elbow grease to torque it free.
Thank You Jesus is Correcto!!
1. Thank you Anil 2. Moen - WTF is wrong with your engineers? 3. Thank you Jesus
Your screw wasn't stripped tho wasn't it ? it seems to be some anti tamper screw with a little post in the middle ? Been taking cold shower for 2 months because my landlord installed it without changing the temperature .....
Thank-you Jesus is what I said when I finally got it off 🙏 too
