HERE'S THE SECRET to covering the SOUND of the ring hitting the table! In bars, clubs and at parties, the natural sounds will 'cover' any small sound of the ring on the table. And when you want to do this in a quieter place, just say the words, "Watch carefully!" at the moment you drop the ring into your cupped hand. That way, your words will 'cover' any small sound.

I’m going to do this to my girlfriend. Use one of the rings she wears and make it reappear as an engagement ring.

You took a one minute explanation of a trick and turned it into a thesis on history, magic, slight-of-hand, theatre, presentation, and I don't know what else. Thanks!
I love the way you explain your magic. So concise and easy to understand. Thanks.
I’ve been watching Sankey for almost 20 years. By far the best at explaining the process of a trick. Not just the mechanics but the psychology.

Two things to keep in mind, the ring has to be perfectly round, no stones and the table must have a cloth to muffle the sound of the ring falling
Hey Jay, just wanna let you know that I started magic a couple years ago and really started to pick up on it about a year ago. I was never at a "good" level until I seen you perform because you show me what's all possible. So thanks for being such a big inspiration.

I think you really are an amazing person - so great to watch. Many thanks....all the way from London !
Love how you always explain the psychology behind the misdirection. I've been a passive viewer for quite some time, and I think it's time for me to sack up and purchase the back to school pack

Whether you do or don't, I still really appreciate your interest in my stuff. Hope it's a great day for you Darth B.
When I travel abroad and I don't speak the language, I do a little hand magic, this breaks the ice, and I am able to get people to interact with me, I often get invited to a meal or drinks and friendships are formed. My best trick in a bar is to make a Sleeve Glass (Straight Pint Glass) pass through a wooden table. Ace ending t a small act of Magic. :)
Yet, another video that is a classic example of why you are one of my most favorite magicians and teachers.. FYI love your Inside Deception site
Thanks! I know how to do a lot of the magic tricks professionals use, but I never had the time to really put in to do them skillfully. Honestly it just makes me enjoy magic even more because I find the scripts more entertaining and when you know what the magician is doing, how difficult it is, and many single magic tricks have multiple pieces that are used to create the overall illusion - seeing them pull this off flawlessly is more impressive than when I didn't know magic! My favorite was a disappearing coin trick I pulled on my brother who is a cop and was working with the DEA basically as a detective...not an easy person to fool. I had three coins in my hand, and when I was supposed to open my hand and reveal only two coins, I'd messed up and there were still three coins, so I acted embarrassed and closed my hand, turned it over (while standing, so I couldn't drop a coin), tapped my hand then opened my hand to reveal only two coins. The look on my brothers face was priceless. Keep up the excellent work!
It is so refreshing to have someone who spends as much time on the 'technical' aspects as those 'soft' skills. When I travel to a country whose language I don't speak, it is amazing to me how open kids are to following me and 'playing'. As long as the 'adults' see me having 'fun' (making faces is a good opener) with their kid, they tolerate me quite well. Children will engage 100% of the time, where adults mostly not at all. I mention this because they have a sense of wonder not yet spoiled, and are similar to 'willing' participants in close-up. Performing anything-even if just making kids laugh at your expressions-without explanation is universal, and taps into something primal. We will question what we are _told_ more than what we are _shown_ . Adults have lost that feeling of awe & wonder that used to make their imagination take a stroll, but kids still have it. They actually THINK about what they see. What I appreciate about the videos of yours I've seen so far is that you have a deep appreciation for this obvious, but seldom explored aspect of _any_ interpersonal interaction. I would rather make one kid laugh than make 1,000 adults go, "How did he do that?"... Thanks for your thorough perspective, good sir. :)

Hey, with such articulate and insightful fans such as yourself, it's a true pleasure to share my POV. Thanks so much!
Thanks mate . I'm always looking wee tricks to amaze kids with . Simple and really effective!
I have a couple of Jay's DVD's and learnt a lot from them and have had my friends scratching their heads after a magic trick, great laugh's too. Thanks Mr Sankey.
Great tips here for my amateur magic tricks Thank you!
Omg i tried this trick in my closet and all my friends loved it! Now i need to show the people at school
Well done. Enjoyed your presentation.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
Excellent instruction, thanks!
true... you can know the mechanics the sleight of hand but the performance is what really sells the trick!
This guy's a real artist. Pleasure to watch.
Very cool thanks 😎
This is such expert instruction! The heart of an effect may satisfy someone puzzled by a trick, but the real skill that makes magic work is in mastering patter, misdirection, presentation, all the components of the showmanship of magic.
Cool...so very cool! Thanks 😊
amazing vanish and also - love ur shirt!!

I scrolled far down the comments below with this being the first time (it's been years), that I haven't came across not one negative, sarcastic, snarky or any troll like comment whatsoever. That dear sir, I reckon is certainly one helluve tough feat to have accomplished. I salute you Sir, BRAVO!

love the trick. also love your shirt
you just got a new sub...respect.
I'm so unlucky, cuz I performed to my family and when the coin was supposed to roll, it just stayed flat. To cover it up I had to use soooo much misdirection and finally just did the other vanish. It was good but it could have been better if it rolled.
I can't believe I just fell for a vanish that I had already been using.
