Nice to see your enjoying your Ford as a diehard Ford fan I purchased my first Chevrolet Silverado ¾ ton & have no regrets this is my first ever non Ford vehicle and it’s proving to be an enjoyable purchase. So far it’s nice not having to go back the dealership for issues like my last two Fords.

Jello Glue: I am by no means a "Die Hard Ford" guy. I like them all and would easily own a GMC Denali or RAM Laramie Longhorn! They are all awesome and super capable. I will look at them all whenever I decide to replace my 450. I'm glad that your Chevy has been performing well for you! It always good to have a reliable vehicle. The story down here is the opposite in my case. I've had no real issues with my Fords, where as my Silverados were in the shop constantly for front end issues, AC problems, and other minor issues. My buddy who works with me drives a 2016 GMC Denali and has had several really strange issues related to vibration while driving, Nav system scrambling the screen, wheel hop while driving, and burning through tires... (has had 5 alignments at the dealership with no avail),.

Had this happen in Vegas at the Ruth Chris steak shop, the joint next door to them had a cell jammer up that killed all car fobs too. The Valets were used to this and showed me, if the push button doesn't come out then you have to hold the fob over the button as you press it. Vroom, truck fired right up. Place next door was sued after someone was injured and died in the parking lot and no one could get a call out for EMS.

Really like your channel; getting educated about the heavier trucks which I've never had. Approaching 60 now and am thinking about a 5th wheel or truck camper (what might you say about tc's?). Will definitely get an F350 or above. Know your dually is a great driver but still wondering if I can get away with an srw as an everyday driver as much for looks as parking. However your front fender flares do balance out the rear dual wheels and it is an awesome look - have to admit.

I have the push button start in my 2017 Lariat and just walking up to the truck and putting my four fingers to pull on the back of the door handle automatically unlocks the truck on the Fly. the black sensor on the front of the door handle when you close it automatically locks the truck. it is extremely convenient and definitely a nice feature to have. times have changed and technology is getting so far advanced. I use trucks more than anyone I know. I also have a F550 for a work truck with an aluminum dump box on the back of it. I prefer my heated and cooled seats heated steering wheel and all my gadgets over a plain Jane truck any day. It even has automatic high beams, blind spot detection, trailer blind spot detection, accident detection. all those features which people think they don't need all come down to one thing and it is safety. I love my Ford trucks

I pull my 2020 42 Tiffin Beacon fifth wheel, I most likely will add the Centramatic balancing rings to help the ride. Have a vibration between 65 and 75 mph. I changed the tires to Continental HD3 225/75R19.5 but still have the vibration. Hope the balancing rings help! It’s a great truck with the exception of the vibration.

I'm glad you point out what you did about the 19.5 MD wheels. People think the F-450 (as seen here) is a class 4 truck simply because Ford labeled it an F-450. When in all reality it's just an overbuilt version of the F-350. This is still very much a class 3 truck.

I own a 2104 F250 Platinum. I am thinking about purchasing a 2017 F450 withi the next year. I don't plan on getting rid of my F250 though. As for your video, I also feel the Super Duty should have a fob key that allows for proximity detection entry, and keyless start. It should also lock automatically whenever you exit and walk away. That way you could simply put your fob in your pocket and leave it there. Heck, my corvette even has that. I also wish my F250 had the tailgate assist like your truck does. I have had to allow the tailgate to slam down on more than one occasion. And yes, last but not least, I think Ford does need to start making the interior a bit more plush. Ram has really stepped it up and it is hard to overlook their interiors.

I have a couple of questions about the f-450 if you have the time to answer them. I found a 2014 f-450 platinum with 49000 miles on it and was wondering if you have heard or know of any problems that people have had with them. The truck has not pulled a 5th wheel trailer but I think it might have pull a bumper pull trailer at one time. Do you know if this year of truck is equipped with the 5th wheel prep package from the factory or was that package not available in 2014? I know it is overkill with what I am wanting to use it for but like you I really like to looks of it plus it a long bed. Thanks for taking to time read this.

Gary C: that's actually a really good year. It's not going to have many of the specs as the 2015+, but it will have some really good capabilities. First, all the bugs were worked out of the first gen 6.7 so the engine should be rock solid (so long as properly maintained by the previous owner), second, it has 17 rims which will be great for upgrading options for tires, Third, it will have all the newer tech that came out in the 2013+ models. No real issues or recalls on the 2014 either. I think it sounds like a good truck. The fifth wheel prep was an option on all 2011+ Super Dutys. Generally the F450s were specd with them. plus, u will have the wide track front suspension and that should really help the turning radius.

yup on my F150 I use the keypad all of the time because my keys are in my pocket and hands are full... I have used my nose to get into the truck b4 I would love having proximity in this truck. I haul a 30ft Imagine Grand design rv 2600RB love it I drove across the country and no problem what so ever. My truck does have the 9,700LBS tow limit. I was able to keep the trailer under 6,500LBS. didn't feel much if any sway. Mods to come are airbags in the rear to assist towing... I tow all kinds of things not just my RV. slow open tail gate I would also love power fold outs as well because I paid $400 to get the tow mirrors I have and would love to keep them safe. will also be getting a gooseneck hitch but not for too much towing. I want a gooseneck trailer for the capability of some trailers I don't have the ability to use currently. also love the channel...

Not sure if ford still does it but in my old Expedition the key pad on the door if you entered the pass code it would unlock the drivers door "duh everyone knows this, lol" but then later a friend showed me if you repeatedly hit the last digit of the pass code it would unlock the rest of the doors. I know its dumb but once i found this out i was happy to have it. Not a must have option but i did notice myself using it as a convenience for letting others in or unlocking the back door if my keys were in the bottom of my pocket and hands were full of whatever.

Is this a 2017? if so you had to buy a real low rear end. I tested a F450 and the only rear end available now is the 4.30 or is it 4.50 something like that. Way too low if your not towing some heavy load. I am not buying one until they offer the 3.73 rear end.. Glad you like yours. Must be kind of like driving a tractor on the road without a load

I'm pretty happy with my Ram. I'd like better towing mirrors and the birds eye camera system but otherwise it's pretty good as is. As for the heated seats and steering wheel you've clearly never lived in a cold climate. Here in Indiana they're really nice, especially with a diesel which is slow to warm up. I really prefer the Ram look over an the others as well but obviously that's a matter of opinion. The Chrysler Uconnect (especially with android auto) radios have been ahead of the competition for a while and coupled with the alpine speaker package sounds great!

Really nice truck, about the push button start I can understand why Ford didn't include it. This is meant to be durable work truck. Push button and smart access are just two more things to go wrong,, and when they go wrong they really go wrong. Very few companies include a manual start mode in the event that the push button system fails, and Ford is not one of them. So you would be stuck with no way to get in the truck and no way to start it. Plus whereas a normal starter costs around $50 the cost of replacing a push button system numbers in the thousands of $$$ depending on the manufacturer.

The only person that I ever heard say that luxury stuff doesn't belong in a truck was my asshole neighbor with his Volvo S60 who thought his car was the ultimate, I told him my truck cost 40k more than his car and tows a house. He stopped bragging about how nice his car was after that.

I agree with a lot of what you said, except the wheel thing... You can buy any aftermarket wheel in any size... If you want 20s, buy a new wheel and tire combo... It's not that big of a deal. If I bought a new truck, that's the first thing I'd do is wheels and tires

I have never owned a pick up truck before. How is the ride stiffness? Can you compare it to like say a corvette or trans am? I would like to buy a 450 and put a 5,000 lb or so truck camper on it. Thank you very much.

Dan Bresler: an F450 unloaded has a pretty rough ride, like any 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck. 1/2 ton trucks (F150, 1500 Silverado) ride like cars now. With 5000lbs of truck camper in the back, any F350/F450 will ride very nice!

I'm relieved to hear of your support for the Ford F-450 Superduty Longbox. In coming months I wish to buy one and use it to carry a hardsided pop up at 3000lbs. I would prefer a diesel? Can a Ford F 450 carry an Alaskan Camper 10 ft? And do it safely?

do remember the smaller rear spring pack he showed early on in this video. Now if the camper is lite enough in weight, not a problem. But this truck is limited payload for a truck camper use. I checked out a similar F-450 at my local Ford dealer. It had camper package and snow plow package added on, which normally means heavier front and rear springs. I parked beside this F-450 with my 2014 Ram 3500 to compare. My Ram is rated to carry a 4,600 pound truck camper. The F-450 was only rated to 4,000 pounds. Again, it is the rear spring pack in this truck. Ford's made this one to pull fifth wheels and gooseneck horse trailer, construction trailers. It's not a serious truck camper hauler UNLESS you get one small enough that's not gonna go over 4,000 pounds loaded up. So you'd be better off with say an F-350 dually, cause for truck campers, it WILL haul more than this one.

  • @BigTruckBigRV

TheMadNorsky: The f450 pickup is rated to carry 5400lbs. You are mainly correct though. The F450 has more than enough payload capacity for your camper but is really a tow beast. The f350 dually has roughly 1000lb greater payload capacity (6400lbs) because the truck is lighter. i did a video several months ago comparing the F450 to the F350 max tow.....check it out

Thanks MadNorksy. The Alaskan Camper is rated at 2400 dry weight and I suspect I would have 600 pounds on top of that. The owner at Alaska recommended a F 350 4 x4 gas. I think the F 450 works for it gives me 1000 lbs leeway. Do you agree?
