John, I have been watching you for years (which includes your blender /juicing videos) and I finally started my gardening channel last year. Thank you for spreading positivity brother. Love from California ❤.
Very good answers! I saw aphids and ants on some melon plants and thought the ants were going to kill the aphids for me, but the plant went downhill and died. Then I learned ants will farm and keep the aphids. Next time I will take action.
When I turn the ground in spring, my chickens have a hey day! They also stopped my pill, sow bug problems
Probably be a good idea to make an episode about Bugs in the garden whether they be beneficial, neutral, or harmful.
I live in MI, I've had indoor pepper plants produce for 3 years in a window with grow lights.
Great video. I’m glad to hear an honest critique of store bought compost. Some store bought bags of composts are good where I live but some are just chunks of wood. New gardeners need your great advice.
I have leaf cutter ants that cut leaves off some trees and shrubs on my property. I leave them alone and let them do their thing. It seems like they know what they are doing and don't hurt the plants or trees. I also have a bee hive that moved into an old pecan tree. It was a nice surprise to find such great pollinators right on my property.

I noticed that leafcutter ants don't bite do you like to eat citrus and Chili Peppers but they don't bother other plants that I grow and they seem to keep other ants at Bay

@@user-eh4hz9xw3h I hadn't noticed that. They left my peppers alone and I don't have any citrus.
Man I had grubbs in my worm bin last year after over filling it with scraps, I got freaked out and removed most of them. come to find out they were Black soldier fly larvae. just trying to help! Wish I would have left them alive. i had a few survive though. They are like the friendliest little bugs
Great job, just ordered some Moringa seeds. We’ll see if they grow in Ohio! Thanks for all the inspiration to grow new types of nutritious plants!
Most of the ants I have on the plants are because of aphids - treating for aphids solves the ant problem. Ants in the ground no problem, other than they are fire ants and they suck. Grubs on the other hand go after my roots and I see that as a big problem. They have caused significant problems for me.
Love what you said about the humble grubs. I saw a woman on another youtube channel called Garden Answer cut a grub in half with her shears as soon as she saw it and I was so appalled and disgusted at her barbarism and arrogance. I'll never watch that channel again. It makes me sick just thinking of it now. Utterly disgusting human chauvinism. If you're going to kill the thing, she could have at least done it off camera. Some people are so grotesque.
I have moved my gardening from Colorado to Rockport TX. Learning all over again
Yes I was there at Natures Way Resources on Saturday. Great place and great products.
If you grow the right thing leafcutter ants can actually help you keep weeds under control. I have seen openings in the forest that sceme 2 have been created by the ants. After an ant colony gets old it starts to grow species that the ants don't like. One species that you can grow easily in the presence of leaf cutter ants is tamarillo the tree tomato and one that you can't is Chili Peppers
Good stuff mang. Thank you
Important to retain some personal privacy. I have taken adult gardening classes through community college-- short term classes, reasonable cost, and at convenient locations. They pay instructors but don’t know how much.
Chickens and birds love the grub worms (Curl Grub)🇦🇺
In some tropical places you may have Aunt fruit trees like I have on my farm and you will want to eliminate any Aunt fruit trees that are close to where you will be hanging out because those ants really bite bad
i just got a hass avacado tree to grow indoor. I live in zone 7a, so cant have it grown outdoor but i plan on having it outside on nice days while in the pot. And under a grow light otherwise. I feel like thats good enough for proper growth. Just have to protect it from my dog ha.
The grub worms I deal with kill plants unfortunately. They eat the roots of plants. I just treat it with beneficial nematodes specifically for grub worms. It works well, and did not seem to bother the earth worms and red wigglers, or the many other life in the soil. I of course got them again but will treat them again
On the ants, those red-colored fire ants, weeks ago they were gnawing off bits of the leaves of my grapefruit tree, the leaves stained with sooty black mold, but the new growth coming out they leave alone also since last week the Grapefruit is blooming these beautiful, oh so fragrant blooms, the only blooms they'll carry off are the ones knocked down by the wind, so my conclusion is the same as yours John, in my case they're more beneficial than harmful. Missed the IRIE 'stream John but here listening to ya and 2022 was the year of the Talayote (wild cousin of the Chayote), bumper crop, last year nada, but a friend from neighborhing Guanajuato told me the Talayotes produce every 2 years so hoping the rains are good and 2024 will be as good as 2022. Thanks for sharing your insight and knowledge John, 👍and👋from Querétaro.🤠

I wonder if the ants are farming aphids on your tree? The ambrosia that the aphids leave behind will cause that black sooty mold.

@@NickleJ hmm🤔I've Heard of ants farming aphids, I'll be inspecting the tree more thoroughly, thank you for sharing your knowledge on this topic.😊
No use nemotoads for grubs
Thanks John 🐸🍺🔪🔥
TD is 👌🏻👍🏻
Beneficial nematodes will get rid of the grubs and any other unwanted insects that damage crops.
Some of those grubs might turn into a Stag Beetle. Eats decomposing matter...
I have a date orchard , goohers are having a blast , are they all that Bad ?
😂😂😂 PLEASE LET THERE BE NO CUTTING OFF OF SIBLINGS ARMS 😂🤣😂
Leaf cutter ants dont bite. Ant fruit tree ants attack!
Don’t feed apple seeds to their birds, will kill them 😊
TD is antisocial lol
