    @@user-ge4mz3rl8h Hi Dmitrij. Start recording your experience and relate it back to the ICE member attributes. This will guide where you need additional experience. Then you need around 7-10 years experience to go for the technical report route. www.ice.org.uk/my-ice/membership-documents/member-attributes

    Hi, just a question is there a big difference or any difference at all between doing a 4 year MEng degree, or instead doing a BEng and then a 1-year MSc at a different University, if so which is better? Thanks.

  • @RobindeJongh

    @RobindeJongh

    A 4 year MEng will most likely be accredited by the ICE and IStructE for chartered membership. Doing a 1 year MSc might not be quite as technical, so I would suggest you check first if it is accredited.

    Hi Daroga. I suggest contacting the Institution of Civil Engineers to see if your degree is recognised by them, as a first step. Usually they require a four years masters degree (MEng).

    Hi Sudeepta. His academic qualification would be insufficient, but the17 years experience should be able to make up for that shortfall. He would need to take the technical report route. Also he would need to have several chartered members who could propose him for membership. Hope that helps, and all the best!

    If you get accepted on a UK masters degree, first make sure that is on this list of approved courses: jbm.org.uk/accreditation/accredited-programmes Once you've graduated, you should be able to apply for membership at the ICE or IStructE, and they will undertake an academic assessment of your Egyptian degree as part of your application process.

    WIth an MEng in Mechanical engineering you should be fine with the ICE, although the IStructE may ask you to undertake some Geotechnical study or write a report.

    Hi. You would probably need to supply details of your course for assessment, and the IStructE would let you know if it is equivalent. You would need to do the exam to get CEng MIstructE.
