Setting up an LLC or Filling out a W9 for a TIN if you are a freelancer will open you up to doing corporate work and high paying jobs. You can do anything from dealing with big companies to bidding on city jobs, vending, etc. The other benefit is getting access to the top tier distributors which in turn opens you up to the best prices. You become the middle man. I used Zen Business to set up my LLC 2 years ago and I haven’t regretted it. There’s a lot of responsibilities that comes with this.

Stan Your are correct. You don't want to play with IRS.. I owned a trucking company for 15 years in New Jersey and Florida till I parked my trucks in feb 2020. Had my llc and all my insurance that I needed. the insurance is to cover your but if your going to have a store, so get it. Never know if someone wants to sue you because of the shirts not being what they expected, which can happen. If that costumer want to be evil they can contact the BBB and that will strike a red flag with IRS. So If you are receiving any amount in check or credit cards it must be claimed. Their is always a paper trail that the government follows. They may not get you now, but they will wait till its a decent amount to go after you. I got audit twice in the 15 years so always keep your files and receipt straight by month and years, they can go back 7 years on your paperwork. Because I had an LLC already it was easy to transfer to my new business and get a resale lic. Listen to Stan he is tell the truth go legit and pay your taxes.. Talk to an accountant and he will steer you in the right direction.. Better to be safe than sorry! God bless everyone and have a safe New Years!

Good vid, I was with a big cartel and ig page. After 2 months was moving 40 shirts a week but then the printer started bugging me for legitimacy and stuff which then made my hobby fizzle out. Good points here to keep in mind and hopefully it reinspires me

Thank you for the information. My first try was foiled by a bad printer that only made one transfer before it died. I want to try again. My daughter just had my second grand kid she asked me to design a logo for her dive biz and encouraged me to try again. The people I designed the logo for were very happy with it and the big magnetic signs for their truck but I was unable to deliver on the T Shirts because of the printer.

People contact me by phone or email and want to buy one of my shirts. I meet up with the and they buy one of my shirts with cash and I'm California you are allowed to do that.

Yes once’s you have one you do a dba on that one to have others and just separate the bank accounts for both.

@@StanBanks Thanks....there are a whole lot of folks out here who are misinformed about etsy files they purchase, google images, different types of fonts etc. Also about companies who actually look for folks using their brands images and profitting from it. As more and mor folks get into building business who have zero design skill and or design software. It’s important folks be informed before all they run out and get vinyl cutters heat press, printers etc. the 1st investment should not be equipment it should be made into getting some real design skills down perhaps classes and software on how to create and not how to grab an image slap some words and all of a sudden you can open up a design studio and start a business. That’s probably the worst business strategy for a printing, t shirt, sublimation silk screening or any kind of business

Care decal should be on the lowest like all 1s Most regular HTV will be blade 3 or 4 and depth of like 8x

Do you need a Register Agent to handle all your incoming business mail , is it required by law when applying for LLC? Just want to make sure it is not an "up sell" option when people tried to file for LLC online!

Yea it’s required by law to have a register agent when having an LLC and that register agent can be anyone but they just need to be available from 9-5 business hours and be on top of their shit incase any important documents or emails come in. And they have to be available those hours because you never know when you’re be contacted or it’s easier to just have whatever LLC company you go with be your register agent cuz those people are trained for that job and will for sure be available during those hours

Can I have two personal checking accounts? One for my personal spending and the other for my beginner online TeePublic t-shirt store? Not sure if a business account is necessary just yet
