    Mary, thanks for the video so glad you finally got the Nutrimill harvest as I absolutely love mine. I have learned while using mine not to put a bowl to catch the flour. I am using a 1 1/2 quart mason jar or one that’s a little bit larger. It stops any of the flour making dust. After that I poured in the bowl continue with my recipe.

    Wonderful honest overview! It really is a big decision. I looked at all the mill options when I determined I wanted to mill my own grain. At that time, Sue Becker and Felicia with Grains and Grit were useful. My counter space is limited, so I felt a stoneground mill would be best. I ended up choosing a Komo, and, yes, had a price tag to it for sure, but I love it and for me it was the best choice. Guess we have to consider these things an investment in our health (and happiness 🙂). Thank you for all the great information! Looking forward to the follow up on the Harvest Mill!

    For the last 15 years or so, I have used the Komo Classic mill. It is beautiful and I love it's simplicity. It is very similar to yours. Flour dust does end up in unwanted places though, as you mentioned. I throw a large tea towel over the mill and the catch bowl while grinding, which solves the problem. I have never has an issue with glazing. On the rare occasions when it occurs to me that maybe I should clean the stones I find that there is no need. Everything looks good inside. I've had a number of mills over the years. The Komo is the most care-free one I've ever owned. Hopefully, your Nutrimill Harvest Mill will prove the same.

    I have this mill and I got it refurbished from nutrimill so I was able to save a pretty good chunk of money. Mine looked brand new and came in the exact same packaging as the new one. I've been loving it and I mill my flour pretty fine but haven't experienced any kind of glazing or had to clean my stones.

    Hello! I’m trying to decide what kind of mill to purchase and have narrowed to the two you reviewed in your video. My hubby has asthma so flour dust is a concern I have. Is there dust with the Nutrimill Classic? Thank you!

  • @TheRoseHomestead

    @TheRoseHomestead

    3 ай бұрын

    I would say that for sure the Classic has less dust and if you cover it with a towel while grinding the dust is pretty much non existent. The Harvest does throw dust in the air. Hope that helps!

  • @TheRoseHomestead

    @TheRoseHomestead

    I've been using it almost exclusively since I made the video and after getting the hang of it, I really like it. I'm torn between this and my impact mills. I'm still using them when I have a larger amount to mill. What I prefer about the harvest is the ability to make cracked grains so easily. Perfect for grits or coarse cornmeal. I'll be making an update video in a week or 2 and lay all these things out and show how to clean it.

    @@TheRoseHomestead I actually own a stone mill--a Salzburger MT 12, although I haven't used it yet (I'm between houses). It's too much mill for me but it's the only one they have that currently ships to North America (and mills Kamut), so I bit the bullet. Still, like you, I'm considering a backup and an impact mill could be interesting, which is why I'm interested in the opinion of someone who has used both kinds. And yes, cracked grains are going to be fun, although I refuse to mill corn--that I leave to the millers. ☺

    @@TheRoseHomestead I just became aware of another mill today that seems to have been around for a long time: kzread.info/dash/bejne/daSAuZKzqaqZcqQ.html . It apparently makes the finest flour of any mill but even though it's adjustable, you can't crack grains for cereal.

    My experience with the hand crank one was hit or miss. I have this model (affiliate link) amzn.to/3ufKGY0 I chose to get the small motor with it. After I got the motor, I used it more. The only problem was it just didn't get it as fine as I wanted even on the finest setting. To be honest, after buying the mill and motor, I could have almost bought the Nutrimill Classic. Now, I am glad I have the hand crank one in case of an off grid situation, but, it stays in storage. I hope this helps.
