Everyone who comes to Greece i always tell them, besides Athens and Thessaloniki that are big cities, every other city in Greece and the islands are the safest place on earth. Zero crime, almost no people on the streets. If you can make money online, the best thing you can do in your life is to have a family and raise your kids in a very small town in Greece with 5.000-50.000 people. Your kids will play outside all day and meet neighbours, the quality of food is the best, the people are very welcoming. Picture how safe it was in the 60s or 70s. It is so safe, i actually keep explaining it to Americans and Canadians and they still don't believe me.

The less touristic a place is, the safer it is. I stayed for 2 years in Preveza city. There were times I’d forget to lock the door to my apartment but I was so sure nothing would happen. Plus it’s a great feeling to know that you can go for a walk alone at 2 am without fearing that you’d get mugged or harassed. And yes, night begins after 10pm - 11pm in Greece

Love that bridge, we've crossedit multiple times on trip fro Corith to Delphi - one of my favourite places inthe word. The Greeks afternoons aresacred, the village /town close & opens again around 5 /6,best suntan weather. Yes,thay stay awake all night, caffinated to the gills. OMG,the can be noisy at night. Athens is awake ALL night,it a total pary city. I always stay in same family hotel on 10th floor with a vast terrace, its in Omonia, near the museum & like all the centre of Athens,in walking distance of everything. Ive been visiting zGreece for 45+ years & just love it. The only way to deal with their chaotic schedule is to just give in & go with the flow. All the very best wishes to you&yours ❤️💯👋⭐️💯✌️

our schedule isnt chaotic. greeks with jobs families and responsibilities are always on the go to do duties etc, and have very limited time to enjoy themselves. I mean compared to what you tourists see in greece during the summer....most of the greeks you see there are either greeks on vacation, local youths or older pensionated greeks who have free time then. we just know how to have fun but our normal daily lives are far far from fun, esp with the crisis.

I walked that bridge on the evening before its official opening in 2004. I've stayed in Nafpaktos often. I'm afraid your hotel is in party central. Try the two beachfront areas to the west (Psani) or to the east (Gribovo). Hotel Akti has a good, longstanding reputation. These areas might also be noisy, but not as noisy as the hotel you stayed in. Oh, most places have air-conditioned rooms now so you can close the windows and get some quiet. Outside the summer months it's much quieter with fewer people. I was there in September 2022.

Greeks never sleep, they are never offended if you ask them to go out late at night, in general it is a common practice not to sleep early, and can put up a whole lot of noise like that. You are right, Greeks do NOT sleep. I visited Athens a few years back. We stayed a few miles outside Athens. My host was my cousin; he finished work at 3pm, took a siesta until 4:30 or 5pm. Then preparation for the evening began... we would go from a bar to another one until 4AM... he would go back home, sleep a couple of hours, then go to work... and back to the same cycle. I did not work and got tired. The music at the cobble stone piazza is a gypsy song - I happen to know that because of a movie from a Yugoslavian director - a great, but sad song about the life of the gypsies.

Υou're right my friend."Ederlezi is a popular traditional folk song of the Roma people in the Balkans and it's the main theme of "Time of the gypsies" by Emir Kusturica. The song got its name from Ederlezi, which is a festival celebrating the return of springtime. Ederlezi is the Romani name for the Feast of Saint George. Many Balkan countries tend to share similar folk songs but with different lyrics. If you ask me this song catch totally the culture and the essence of the Balkans. We hope to see you again in Greece and sing and dance together all night long.

Greece has no "Bars/clubs close at x time" policy. If you come to Greece and rent above a bar or many bars, you kinda shafted yourself there if you were looking to getting any sleep. I'm a local and I always book my hotels/places to sleep FAR AWAY from main attraction areas. When I was younger that wasn't an issue ofc haha, enjoy!
