    I think it all originates in the respect: to your own self, to your parents, to your family, to the other person. Of course people are free to get married or not, to start a family or not, but if you go in life respectfully with your moral values , big chances are that you will have the key to have later and forever a loving, and caring family.

    Traditional is staying a virgin until marriage. If you already spread your legs, you are not traditional. And if you expect anything material (like a plate of food), for your company during dinner, you are literally an escort. Possibly a prostitute.

And Spaniards, Hungarians, Irish and French were the friends I hang out with. I think culturally we meshed very well together. Also the Irish people hang out with the southern Europeans and NOT with the British or Americans, I found that very amusing! 😊

    About the talk to determine whether you're exclusive or not, I think most times it comes down to the individual. I am Spanish, and to be honest, I think most people would expect you to respect whatever you're starting with them even before the talk, but I know others don't; that's why it's important to have that talk so that everyone is on the same page. But I moved to the UK, and it was kind of similar; again, it depended on the individual, some wouldn't have the talk but talked to other people (you kind of had to read between the lines sometimes XD), others didn't have the talk but respected the relationship, and others after admitting they weren't even sure how things worked anymore in this respect did want to have the talk just to be sure that they weren't being misled.

    Love the video and the energy! People were super nice! Another great work by DBB! I’m Irish-Portuguese and because both countries have a huge Catholic influence, I was raised in a more traditional way in regard to dating. I was taught that a man should always strive to be the best version he can be when courting a lady. Be a gentleman, a provider, a protector. Make sure she’s happy, feeling loved, and safe. That also goes for inviting women out. I personally think a good man will gladly pay for a nice dinner with the lady he chose to invite out on a date. My grandpa used to tell me that “if you are man enough to choose to fall in love with a woman, be man enough to take care of her.” And I think the old man was right all along!

    Yeah the Hungarian guy is spot on with the Hungarian attitudes. One thing I personally have not experienced is girls taking advantage of this and trying to get like a free meal or something. And yeah it's not every time by any stretch of the word. Like he said, it's just the first 2-3 dates. Then you go 50-50 or sometimes the girl pays if you've been dating for a long time. I've been dating a girl for 3 years and it's usually like if we go somewhere then I pay for lunch, she pays for the museum tickets and snacks, etc.

    I think what the spanish girl said was accurate to the average spaniard; expecting the guy to pay for the bill is seem as entitled. People get engaged in their late 20s/early 30s, you’re seem as CRAZY if you marry someone without having already lived with them beforehand, if people (most i would say) marry in the church is for aesthetic reasons or to please their grandma/mom. There is no concept of ‘dating’ we call it ‘going out with someone’ until you guys decide to ‘be together’, but the point at which exclusivity starts depends on the person, the age, the context… is always best to explicitly talk about it, but it’s usually expected early on if you keep ‘going out’. One night stands are common when going out clubbing.

    As a Spanish person, I disagree with some of the things the Spanish woman in the video is talking about. While it might be normal in her city for there to be no exclusivity in relationships unless otherwise stated, it is not something that can be generalized. Obviously, if you have a one-night stand or a "friends with benefits" situation with someone, it is understood that there is no exclusivity. However, once you have a serious and committed relationship with someone, a dating relationship, it is understood that there is exclusivity unless explicitly agreed upon as an open relationship. It is not common for a boyfriend or girlfriend to do whatever they want, cheating on their partner, and when confronted, the unfaithful person responds with, "What are you talking about? We never discussed exclusivity in our relationship." The majority of Spanish people have at least a minimum level of honesty and emotional responsibility towards their partners.

    I’m actually quite surprised by Spain’s responses! I hadn’t thought they’d expect to “go Dutch” on dates, nor to need explicit verbalizing of being exclusive, or that marriage is not important. It sounds so much more like the stereotype of what’s done here in the US 😅. As an American I’d say we actually have a LOT of variation, often depending on region. For example, Im a Texan and I definitely expect a guy that invited me out to be a gentleman and pay the first date. I’d offer (and be prepared to) pay my part of course, but if he takes me up on it then it’s a clear sign things went bad and we’re not going out again lol! I think a lot of the south is similar from what I’ve seen. In this way I’d say I agree 100% with France, but otoh personally I want marriage to build a family and wouldn’t be ok with “common law” so still different too.

    A spanish woman who lives in a big city like Barcelona can be culturally very different from other perhaps more conservative areas. The same thing that can happen with someone from New York compared to another areas of the country. Likewise, in Spain, women like to be independent and do not look for the prince charming to invite them and kneel down to ask them to marry them, this last thing is quite corny and outdated.

  • @juri3678

    @juri3678

    yeah, spanish women are very independent and we don‘t like others to invite us or pay for us on the first o second date as a norm. It really depends on the couple, but as the girl said, we don’t like owing people anything. When you‘re friends or longterm partners, this can change a bit (maybe someone wants to invite the other and that‘s usually okay), but overall it is like she said. I treat my friends and boyfriend often and viceversa, and if you‘re at someone‘s house and get home delivery, usually the person of the house is the one to pay. Also, young people have a dire economic situation due to low wages, so I feel like that also makes people pay what they have consumed and not expect the other to pay for them, since it could be burdensome.

Many people probably split the bill, but there are also so many where guy still pays everything. Also concept of dating, I think that just varies from couple / humans to couple / humans. One night stands and flings get more and more popular, unfortunately, in whole Europe, because of social media. Public affection might be in Austria a little bit more than in Finland, but then again, not by much. I would say it isn't really a thing in both countries. About marriage: It was a thing in the past, but nowadays it seems like marriage is just a paper and a huge waste of money. Then divorcing, which happens constantly, is also involved with money, paper and lots of stress. I wanted to get married too, but the older I get, the system gets more corrupt about it and it just doesn't mean, unfortunately, much anymore today.

    As a Spaniard, I disagree on some issues...It is true that everyone has their own views on life, but I wouldn't say that marriage is becoming outdated. Although the secular movement is gaining strength, Spain is a country with a strong Catholic tradition, whether people like it or not, and there are still Catholics like me (quite a few, but not very active in the media) who have a desire to get married. Dating is oldschool courting mostly in Hungary sonyou pay because your gentleman and wanna give a good impression. But also heavily matters where she is from countryside or a big city like Budapest, is she younger or older, and your age and income difference aswell. Spain and France are more progressive and modernized in their views, and do not see anything terrible in splitting the bill. But everyone has the same opinion about one-night stands. What people need to realize is that the age of generalizations is over. People in every country are very diverse. Of course they hold on to common "national" practices but with the demise of aggressive nationalism in Europe and with the rise of America as a superpower after WW2 and with globalization, the internet, social media, tourism etc. the application of generalizations has diminished quite a lot. You might think that a person is French and therefore they may be very promiscuous but it turns out that they aren't like that. In fact they're very monogamous. Also, Americans love stereotypes and putting people in boxes.

    I think what actually we see is the opposite. There is an opposition for globalism recently, which makes sence somewhat: We were sold on the globalist dream where we would all sing kumbaya, and the best of all cultures would flow through and a person in Egypt is drinking peruvian drinks while reading Chinese philosophy. What just happened the class difference and unfairness got global. No longer there is the upclass neighbourhood and slummy working area of the same town, but with countries. Even in Europe, while the burocreats and western European thinkers blame the eastern EU countries for their goverments corruption, which is factually true, on the other hand the greatest sponsor of these goverments are western multinational companies who enjoy low taxes and low wages, not so tough authorities, for their factories. Many say the whole eastern expansion of the EU was just for that, under the guise of european brotherhood. Atleast there is no true push for wage union in the EU. Same for wealthy western European countries, they talk inclusivity but use their ex-colonies, as mines, places for cheap factories etc. We all make deal with China, before the war we all head deals with Russia strengthening them. When some try to push for a favorization of domestic products instead the cheap ones made through slave labor in the 3rd world, the globalist yelled "nationalist". This only benefirs the leaders and shareholders of these international companies and the goverments of these dictarorial goverments, while the people losing their jobs locally and the masses working slaves labour in those 3rd world countries suffer. Globalism without true sharing, true solidarity, where im willing to let go of some of my lifestyle privilidges for the benefit of those who dont even have a 50th of what i already have, is just a bs corporat lie.

The southern you go the more the features get darker but it's still possible to find blondes in Sicily. Northern Italians are light because they are actually Germans; they are the descendants of German tribes who settled in Northern Italy from the past. The region of Lombardy in Northern Italy was named after the lombards who were a Germanic tribe. Same with spain, in Northern Spain there were a lot of Celtic tribes that settled in that region so that explains why some Spaniards have red hair and blue eyes-it is from the Celtic tribes. In the past, tribes of Northern Europeans like the Germans and Celts did migrate to and settle in regions of Southern Europe and obviously had a genetic impact.
