    Couldn’t agree more with Stevie. I love Reyna, but what is best for his career right now is going to a non-CL team in the Top 5 leagues (excluding the Prem), where he can get plenty of minutes and show his ability. I think La Liga or Serie A would be fantastic places for him to be at next year.

    I agree with the Stevie but put this in mind as well. Borussia Dortmund had Four players leave to go to bigger club's, out of those four three of them are UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WINNER. First of we all know Christian Pulisc left, went to Chelsea for four year ( while the pandemic occurred ) played in the Finals and won. Third player to leave Erlin Holland, fantastic striker all the hype went the Man City. Wins the golden boot award and help Pep and Man City win their first ever Champions League title. Four player to leave which we all know, Jude Bellingham was the next big signing, goes to Real Madrid in his FIRST SEASON won the champion league. And Second player to leave ( and yes i did skip second because if you also forgot that Dortmund bought him back) is Jadon Sancho. The one who took Pulisc position, went to Man United, didn't have a well career there, they bring him back and with contribution helps Dortmund get back to the Champion League Final since the last time they went and lost to Bayern Munich. So you mean to tell me he wants to play for an important club, be on the field consistently, yet you can't improve let alone stay healty and your being outshine by three other player who stepped up their own performance, made bigger impact then you as your teammate/ former teammates and can change the game on the pitch at any moment?? And I'm a U.S. fan through and through but come on now

    As a dortmund fan I really liked him in his first 2 seasons. I always thought he should play more but even tho he had a good run as a joker in the middle of the 22/23 season he stagnated in his abilities unlike bellingham and other young players with similar talent in the previous years at bvb. Especially when he got the occasional starting spot his performances were disappointing. As a sub in general he only had impact through singular highlight moments like a really well taken hit but could never contribute to the actual game. He always seemed to lack the intensity and speed of the game losing his duels, mistiming passes and runs etc.. What can be elegance in his best moments looks like carelessness for the rest of the game.

    He said "highest POSSIBLE level". What he was insinuating was that he needs a position in whatever level allows him to have significant game time and impact. I think he'd be happy to be in a 2nd division squad (like the Championship or similar) if that's what allows him to play more and better establish himself again. He wasn't saying he deserves to be at THE highest level. That's what Ale got wrong, too. He just wants to play at whatever the highest level he can, is.

  • @S14N9LS
    @S14N9LS12 күн бұрын

    Ale and possibly Stevie clearly misunderstood his quote. He wasn't saying he deserves to be at THE highest level. He clearly meant that he wants to find a position at whatever the highest level that'll give him a chance to play consistently and have an impact is. That's why he said "...possible...". Basically, what Stevie was saying without realizing that's what Gio meant by the quote. Maybe in one of the 2nd division leagues or something? He definitely isn't doing himself any favors riding the pine and without more minutes, he won't be on the same level as he needs to be anyway.

His move to Nottingham albeit on loan was a disaster because he done nothing to suggest Forest wants to keep him on a permanent basis plus is appalling injury record and the lack of game time at Dortmund. It's clear he's done at Dortmund and needs to join the championship to revive his career. He's clearly not good enough for the Premier League and La Liga and Serie A will eat him alive for dropping stinkers. A talented player in America for sure but don't have any grit to become a good player at high level football.

We all know now it was coaches not rating him. End of discussion. Gio Reyna had averages a GA every 1.63 games per 90 despite all this chaos and pulisics before Milan was 1.7 and gio has been used as 8 as much as the wing when he’s healthy. What a simpleton take from these anti American pundits. Many of the USMNT players have been unlucky with injuries. Unless you’re Mbappe or Haaland you don’t really have a spot waiting for you when you get back. Every time you loose time with the team due to injury you loose your spot when another player begins to play good enough for the spot. They’re not going remove your replacement unless you are extremely good during training but if you’re just as good as your replacement during that injury time off then you won’t see the field. This is the same scenario that happened with Pulisic. Pulisic played a role for Chelsea which helped them win the champions league. However he got injured and lost his spot that even when was healthy he still didnt see the pitch not until he went to AC Milan.

This quote is taken out of context. He wasn't saying he has to play at THE highest level. He wants to find a role at the highest POSSIBLE level that will allow him the chance to play on a consistent basis and, therefore, have more of an impact on the pitch. Basically, he's saying he's open to moving down from the top flight if that means he can get his career back on track. I get tired of hearing teams and pundits talk about a player not being good enough consistently enough, blah, blah, blah. More and more, to me, it seems like it comes down to the coach and where the player would fit into the team. Pulisic was terrible in his final years at Chelsea they say... or is it that Tuchel didn't see fit to play him because, as Tuchel saw it, he didn't have a place for him in the team. Lampard did, and if it wasn't for Christian, Chelsea would have done much worse when Lampard was coaching. The he goes to AC Milan and is a superstar again... suddenly Christian just becomes a special player again. BS. He always was. Gio was integral to the success that Haaland had at Dortmund, and many would say that he and Bellingham were big stars in the making. Gio gets injured and Terzic comes in, and suddenly Gio isn't good enough blah, blah. He will be great... at a team somewhere that he and his agent wisely chooses for him to get plenty of minutes to have a chance to prove himself with. Pundits vomit so much garbage. I honestly don't think they're worth listening to anymore, unless they are entertaining enough like Carragher and Micah from CBS.

He's in a sense stagnated because his position, a 10, has been expunged from modern football. He's like an inferior Jaoa Felix. He has all the physical and technical abilities but doesn't have the footballing intelligence for the new position he's moving into. He can barely play more than 60 minutes & doesn't help his arrogrance lends him the worst body language in Germany, outside of Leroy Sane. Serie A would be a nightmare for him given how much running and thinking is required for mids; imagine Conte coaching Reyna?! Did you see how much pressure Atalanta put on Leverkusen. La Liga requires football cunning and intelligence that he doesn't possess yet because there's more thinking than running. Ligue 1, he's too frail for the physicality of French players. Suprisingly I think the Prem is the best for him if he improves his fitness. A team like Brighton or Villa where there's actually coaching or recoaching of fundamentals. He's great in a transitional team but he has to do all the hard running out of lowblock. I think Nuri Sahin will take him back and I hope he develops his game in Germany, but the league is changing with its injection of foreign coaches and easing of the stuctural German base-heavy on running-to a more technical, fluid game. I don't the premier league will work for any American midfielder: they simply don't have the fitness required. Think of how much running Bernando Silva or Bruno do in a game & they are technically great. McKennie would work but he has to lose about 15 lbs because he thinks the game.

    I suspect Dortmund will refuse to sell him to another BL team, which narrows it down. Gio is exactly the type of player what could move to another BL team and blossom. BVB doesn't want any uncomfortable questions coming back at them after the transfer, like why would he be good at team X but couldn't get minutes at Dortmund?

    Giovanni Reyna has taken a massive step back in his career. No one knows what’s happened to him as he was a very promising player, but his career has massively stalled of late and he is very low on confidence and form. Last season wasn’t great for him as at Borussia Dortmund he found game time hard to come by as he was barely starting games found himself on the bench more than on the pitch and there were games where he didn’t even play in. In the past he was struggling with injuries, but he was fit yet they decided not to play him. During that time the team was struggling in the Bundesliga despite their excellent run in the champions league and Reyna couldn’t get a game and he wasn’t given enough chances. In January we all felt like he would benefit from a move away from Borussia Dortmund and while they’re a club that has been the right environment for developing young players, he needed to get regular minutes elsewhere and his loan move to Nottingham Forest was supposed to kickstart his career. Instead things got worse for him there as he struggled on a team that was mid table in the premier league, once again he was on the bench and didn’t look good when he was given some chances. He has a bad loan spell at Nottingham Forest and now he goes back to Borussia Dortmund where he doesn’t have a future there and his next move should be to Leeds United in the championship which has been a place for Americans or it’s time for bro to get that paycheck already and go to Saudi Arabia. He needs to learn Arabic. Anyways I’ll stop with these jokes, what I’m trying to say is that he has to find a new club in the summer if there isn’t any signs that he has a future at Borussia Dortmund.
