Lots of people say that Berkeley pumps suck in white water. This really isn't true if properly configured. Lots of older jet boats have them, and they are plenty capable.

I've got a built 460 and an American turbine pump (pretty much a Berkeley) I'm not a whitewater pro, but I've had it in hells canyon, both the snake, and salmon and it performs beyond my capabilities! And tends to cruise at a higher speed than equivalent hamilton pumps
With an inducer and some decent power in front of them Berkeley/AT 309s work well if maintained. Very lightweight pump simple to fix and definitely a lot better than most “ know it alls “ think they are. Pros and cons to all pumps and boats.

Do you recommend any mechanics that can rebuild/work on pumps? I have a Hamilton that cavitates if I attempt to throttle up fast.

Your location? What engine, and do you know the impeller?

@@idahoviking I live just west of Spokane WA but I work in Post Falls ID. The engine is a SBC 350 Redline and I don't know what impeller it has. I bought it used in 2018 and it's a 1999. I'm thinking it's the original. but I don't know for certain. Thanks
