That baby had hypothermia due to the cold. Mine was too but happily i managed to saved her. Heating lamps are very necessary during cold weather.

We are in outside of Columbus Montana in the country. We have never used heat lamps in the barn, we had triple kids early morning. Friday 4-15 in a blizzard and below zero had 2 feet of snow 2 days prior. Those kids were so cold end up bringing them inside for the night to warm them up. I am so I glad had a gut feeling to check on the goats at 1am and found one in active labor ( no signs prior to that was checking regularly or I would have had 3 frozen kids. We have a heater screen that used for our chicks a few years back. We put that in the birthing stall and the kids have be curling up in front of that now. They are all pretty small little nigerian dwarf goats. I have been eyeing those heat lamps from Preimer 1. We still have 3 more Does to kid. Hope you survive the next round of storms AKA blizzards heading your way today.

I’ve ran into an issue now, I used a heat lamp for a new born and now I’m afraid to take it away because he and his mom stay under it every night and our night temps are up and down so I just leave it on

This winter was just crazy. I was scared to use a heat lamp this year. Instead I ended up having to warm baby twice and even mom... I put chicken brooder/heater on the ground and turned on a heat lamp early morning. Smh.

It has been a crazy winter and spring. It feels like longer bouts of cold and snow where we are. We usually get those spring snow storms but they melt the next day. It’s been week long cold and snow. It’s hard to revive a cold goat!

Hi Delci. I have a goat teaching channel too. I like your videos and agree with pretty much all of your lessons. I'm in Canada so some things are different. I started using heat lamps a few years ago, they help a lot. They work well with older goats that are sick too. Your goats are so sweet especially that little white one. Check mine out and keep up the good work, thanks see ya.
