I’m from San Diego CA and I worship this sport called FOOTBALL ⚽️

I get not a lot of Americans watch or keep up with world football, but I’m American and it’s been my favorite sport all my life. I’ve been watching ever since the WC in ‘02. My first CL final was Monaco vs Porto. I think people outside of the US need to understand we didn’t have football to watch every weekend back in the day like we do now. I was lucky to catch a CL semis match on tv back then. Now it’s everywhere and I’m glad it is. There’s a lot of us around so it’s not like the ENTIRE country doesn’t know. We know. We’re just not lucky enough to be featured in every single video.

English called it Soccer first.. it comes from 'asSOCiation' football. It was an alternative name because people in England called Rugby 'Rugby Football' and the term Soccer was adopted by many people to avoid confusion. It was logical that the USA would use it as its term. It has declined in use over the years in UK but some non football fans still use the term in the British Isles when talking about the game.. mostly people from a more upper class background who are into Rugby more than football or Irish people who are more into Gaelic Football.

As an American instead of watching the MLS, I watch La Liga, Serie A the bundesliga, premier league and Champions League. I also watch all the international matches, such as the Euros, World Cups and all of that. European soccer is way more lively and entertaining than US Soccer.

At one point I was much more the same. Soccer in the US 100% has a ways to go before it can reach the levels of European soccer in many different aspects. I've found, when you take it for what it is and don't try to compare, it makes it more enjoyable. But of course it can be hard. People can only watch so much soccer and we all wanna watch the best, right?

MLS itself is equivalent to EFL League 2 in terms of performance. For who doesn't know, EFL League 2 is England 4th division football. Even non league team which already promoted like Wrexham United, Wrexham United which consist of retired players still trashed bunch of so called professional MLS team including US Women Football National Team.

I think ball knowledge has definitely improved in the US, ive got some American friends and they know their stuff about football (im English 🤣) we still speak over the internet sometimes and just talk football, it's definitely growing in the states, I mean look at the USMNT, it's now not a joke anymore as it once was, they're not amongst the elite yet, but now there an upper middle of the pack team that could pull an upset in the right situation

@KZreadsGreatest I agree myself, I can only assume that they re-signed Berhalter because everyone else's was too expensive, England has a similar issue, we've currently got an excellent squad (id go as far as saying best I've seen in my lifetime) but then we're coached by Gareth Southgate, that's why in the Euros, im expecting that first time we run into a top team we're going home, I hope you guys have a good Copa America this summer but my concern for you guys is that like us, you've got a coach that'll only hold you back

Listen I get it,football( American hybrid Rugby) is king,but cmon Texans y’all usually host the Dallas Cup which is one of the most prestigious international youth tournaments in the United States + y’all showcase premier competitions that include international clubs - and not to mention Liga México which is right across the boarder. As a kid growing up in the Northeast and playing club soccer/High School ,we were heavily immersed into the sport,and I distinctly remember how we all wanted to be All-American plus go on club tournaments in Europe and be part of the O.D.P. We also went to soccer camps lead my ex pros from Latin America/Europe/Africa .Maybe it was my ecosystem,but we used to run to Barnes & Noble to try to get the latest Soccer magazines from abroad and not to mention soccer parade magazine in the U.S. I am an ardent La Liga MX supporter and that’s were I also learnt about fútbol and it was pivotal to my learning about soccer. Don’t get me wrong,I also embrace our sports too,but no bones about I love soccer ie.
