DNR - Digital Noise Reduction - Work SSB with FM quality!

Ғылым және технология

DNR - Digital Noise Reduction. What is it? How do we use it? How it can help us?
In this video, I will show you a way to work SSB but with a quality that will remind you of FM.
I will also show a few live examples of using this feature.
I hope it will change your SSB experience.

Impressive from the 991! I had an FT-450, and the DNR seemed to just alter the level of filtering, and as you added more DNR it sounded like it was introducing a lot of phase error on the vocal. I usually ran it at a mid level, it helped, but not like you showed here. I have a 7300, and I would say while not heavily adjustable, it seems better than my old FT-450. The algorithm way is best, if you can distinguish between stationary noise and non-stationary voice. I did an algorithm similar in underwater acoustics, using scaled histograms, and BP prefiltering prior to applying the statistical histogram shapes. There were gains, but perhaps max +3 dB SNR. It's an neat problem and obviously things have moved on nicely since I messed with that.

Interesting experience, thanks for sharing. I'm sure that it's very hard to compare the FT-450 with the latest IC-7300 or the FT-991A, as these are different generations of transceivers. I'm not familiar with the 450 but based on the generation, I'm sure that it is based on electronics while the latest transceivers are based on software. It's much easier to do some magic using software. 73.

Es increíble la cantidad de ruido que elimina ese filtro, gracias por el video.

It does work well. I would have like to seen a demo of the IC-7300 DNR

Thanks. I don't have the 7300 but I will be happy to add a demo once we could meet people again.

Thats very effective. I have to say better than the 7300. Perhaps I need to make an adjustment on my 7300 to do better. Thanks for the video. KD2LMR

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, I heard from other hams that they are using that with the 7300, but as mentioned in the video its working a bit different. Good luck, 73.

Wow! That DNR makes a big difference. Which equipment do you recommend for a beginner?

It's a good question and to provide an answer more details are needed. For example, I would ask what do you want to do? HF, VHF/UHF? What interesting you like Phone? Digital? Satellite? But as a simple and quick answer, for a someone that is just starting with ham radio, I would recommend to find some low cost VHF/UHF handheld. This way, you will have the fastest way to get connected with your local club member, get more information about the hobby, you don't need any special setup like antenna, etc. Then, you will understand better what you want to do for the next step. I hope it helps.

hi, i am using the rrd-102v2.0 radio module, now i am doing a project, for example, how can i control a radio station empty interference sound. I need to check, if there is a parasite, I want to have it checked with commands such as do the following, otherwise do not. //example if(noise==noise) { //bla bla bla } else { //bla bla bla } (Arduino Projects)

If I understand your project, you will need to sample the audio of your radio.
