wow! One of the best Interviews i have ever seen. Dmitry is amazingly lucid communicator, his own admission of "thick accent notwithstanding. I would love to sit in one of his classes. Thank you Lex for bringing such brilliant people to illuminate our understanding of things.

I love that you label the sections by subject. I wish more people would, or knew how, to do that. Great interview!

My two favorite Russians in the same place? What more could I want?! I'm excited that the greater AI community can benefit from hearing Dr. Korkin's words. I've been lucky enough to be in his classes; he is the only lecturer I've had that I have recruited classmates to record if I had to miss class (his classes are of a very few I didn't skip just because).

I love this particular podcast. Open discussion about so many aspects of science. No melodrama. Lots of facts, conjecture and calm, probing curiosity. It's the anti-Eric Weinstein interview.

You can turn on captions - they're pretty good at transcribing the video.

This has come at the best time for me, bioinformatics is all I'm doing at the minute with lockdown. Great guest and podcast.

Thanks for the discussion. I think Dmitry was thinking of Foldit when he answered the Folding@home question. Folding@home runs simulations on its own, while Foldit is an interactive game.

True. However, Lex could have read the guest's paper before having him over. It would not take that long and he would have been better informed, making the conversation perhaps more interesting (because it could be easier to go deeper into the subject).

I wish there was more depth in the discussion of his scientific research, such as how is agent-based modeling done? what were the results of his cruise ship study? how would potential drugs work, such as remdesivir, chloroquine for covid19?

I'm really curious to know the reliability of the covid-19 tests in the hypothetical case of a person infected with another member of the coronavirus family. Can't find the answer for that anywhere Congrats for another great podcast, Lex. You're the best.

Really enjoyed the deep discussion. The breadth of knowledge is so vast that we are still learning and we have only just begun. It was also nice to see Lex so interested in Biology. I wonder if he will start a collaboration and direct AI and deep learning towards COVID and beyond. Cellular intelligence would be a cool topic too.

Another great interview (didn't need "Coronavirus" in the title to be captivating)!. I believe Dr. Eric Lander would be fantastic material for another one on similar subjects.

I would expect generally the virus to be more transmissible during the asymptomatic phase, and very early symptomatic phase. Note that the asymptomatic phase means your body is not yet responding to the virus and it is replicating rather freely. Symptoms are the response of the body fighting the virus so we might expect transmissibility to start falling.

Wanted to ask if blood type makes a difference. The reason Mac operating software is less susceptible to viruses is because of the percentage it has in market share. By analogy, are rare blood types less susceptible to the Corona virus?

As Lex struggled with the genome ideas, I suddenly realized he doesn't know everything. That was a shock.

My wife would like to know: out of everyone who has gotten sick with COVID-19 or died, what is the average percentage that already had chronic disease, and/or compromised immune systems?

Такое интервью собрало бы меньшую аудиторию. Было бы хуже и для обоих в кадре, и для 95% аудитории. Вот реально, что было бы здорово - это хорошие субтитры на русском. Но это трудозатратно. Если есть у кого-нибудь время, желание этим заняться - предложите Лексу помощь. Я думаю, он оценит.

Is it really that big with regard to conferences ?

Throughout vastly most of human history, there was a smaller, relatively immobile human population, and that is what humans evolved to live in. I am afraid humans are not biologically equipped -- yet -- for today's large, mobile populations. Evolution will eventually equip us the hard way, sadly, but good science and good political policy together can be the way out of this difficulty. Humans have to improve both or else we will fail, as we have already seen. A boolean AND gate is connecting our political and scientific outputs.
