Dmitri Alperovitch on China/Taiwan: ‘They're on a path to war’

“The reasons for China trying to take Taiwan have nothing to do with the United States and have everything to do with [Xi Jinping's] ego, view of history and security and geography … They're on a path to war." - Dmitri Alperovitch

In 1941, Crete was invaded by the Germans. The initial strategy was an air-assault, but they quickly switched to using fishing boats, supported by air cover.

Taiwan never belonged to the People's Republic of China; Taiwan was returned to the Republic of China following the Cairo Conference 1943. The Republic of China was expelled from the United Nations by a vote of the General Assembly in 1971 and its seat was replaced by the Communist PRC. The United Nations as an organization does not have the right or powers to illegitimate a country; the organization's purpose is to promote peace, friendly relations, and cooperation amongst nations.
