END OF BEGINNING LYRICS:
Just one more tear to cry
One teardrop from my eye
You better save it for
The middle of the night
When things aren’t black and white
Enter, Troubadour:
“Remember 24?”
And when I’m back in Chicago, I feel it
Another version of me, I was in it
I wave goodbye to the end of beginning
This song has started now
And you're just finding out
Now isn’t that a laugh?
A major sacrifice but clueless at the time
Enter, Caroline:
“Just trust me you’ll be fine”
And when I’m back in Chicago I feel it
Another version of me, I was in it
I wave goodbye to the end of beginning
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
You take the man out of the city, not the city out the man
You take the man out of the city, not the city out the man
You take the man out of the city, not the city out the man
You take the man out of the
And when I’m back in Chicago, I feel it
Another version of me, I was in it
I wave goodbye to the end of beginning
Goodbye
Goodbye

I lived in Chicago for a decade. It's not perfect , but I miss it. Probably going back when I can.
For me, 'Chicago' is all those memories that l may not be able to live again but l have cherished, enjoyed them at the right moment and have kept safe deep inside my broken soul which is slowly trying to achieve peace and strength, by replaying all those old memories which had deep emotions attached to it❤ Joe is a fantastic singer, damn his vocals ate fr❤
This song takes me back to my childhood. I think about how much more simple and fair my outlook to the world was, never worrying about bad things or the next events of my life and simply enjoying friends and family. I feel and think so different now that I'm an adult. Another version of me, I was in it.
Not one song that I dislike from this album. Joe is such an amazing musician and I hope we can get a tour someday!!

this song feels like what would be playing in your head at the end of high school, looking back though all the memories and thinking about whats to come.
Everyone using the chorus for shorts has driven me to find the whole song. My soul is crushed appropriately by the sad nostalgia the whole song brings. I'm not from Chicago. I've never even been that far north. But man, if this doesn't make me miss my hometown in the Texas panhandle anyway 🥺

i usually hate trendy songs but this is such an explosion of immersion in everything that once was and celebrating what now is. beautiful.
Being away from home in the big city, alone at home without dinner or warmth, it hits you how lonely and far you are from home. It was a sacrifice to leave home to find better opportunities, and you wonder how life would've been if you never left. There is a sense of melancholy reminiscing the life you had, and mourning the person you could've been, but it is what it is. Keep moving forward towards your dreams.
