    Greetings from Croatia, EU. I think that the problem with active track is acceleration, not the speed. When you start walking slow and then accelerate, active track works fine. But when you start running suddenly then active track lose you. BTW simple and convincing, “real life” video...

  • @KyleObst

    @KyleObst

    3 жыл бұрын

    I came here to explain the exact same thing, active track is really good at accelerating and decelerating with you once it’s already predicted your path, but if you burst speed in a direction out of nowhere the algorithm hasn’t had time to compute where you’re headed and follow you. Is the same with the Ronan‘s and the drones!

    The raven eye for me, works better as an assist while using the gimbal handheld. i don't see it as a replacement for a cam op fully when it comes to tracking on sticks. It's great to use for podcast, making your own PTZ Cam system with the force mobile feature or wireless joystick. I love how using it helps track the motion of the talent while the camera can now focus more on face detection an eye af bc the gimbal is helping me keep the talent composed properly

    Thanks for such a realistic video. Really get to know the good and also the not so good things about the product. My sense why it looses you during running 🏃‍♂️ while not the runner in Pete’s video is possibly because if I remember right , the camera in that video was possibly being maintained in parallel to the runner.

    Great video & keep it up! I bought this RS2/Raveneye set up a few weeks ago. In my testing so far the Raveneye is just a bit too much gear for what it’s worth to me. A lot of wires and tinkering to get it going. I think filming myself walking around talking like you did on the football field is really the only time I would use it. I definitely wouldn’t use Raveneye in any stressful or critical situation (yet).

    Seems to me dude thats its all about the limitation of the motors and how quickly they can move. If you run fast but youre further away from the camera, you're creating a larger raidius and therefore the raveneye can keep up, if youre closer to the camera and run just as fast, your radius is much tighter and the raveneye can probably keep up but the motors in the gimbal cant move fast enough; its probably a safety thing DJI built into the app to stop their products burning out.... just my thoughts... I really enjoyed your video

I've ordered an RS3 Pro with the RavenEye and I hope to use it at work shooting cars. I do walk-arounds and rolling footage videos at work and trying the keep the gimbal locked on a vehicle can be challenging. Have you any experience using the RavenEye to keep objects in frame? Hi Lemar...not sure if I missed something in the video but was wondering what you used to set the Ronin on for the later half of the video and would love to know. I am looking to use the RavenEye for the full body tracking you were showing but need a recommendation on a tripod setup that would work well and keep everything totally stable and upright like your was. My concern was the Ronin movement knocking over the tripod or at min getting some weighted wobble but your setup was rock solid even under heavy / fast motion. Thanks for and excellent demo of the RavenEye!

    Very good review, putting the thing into the real environment and testing it is kinda obvious thing, but most youtubers dont do it and they mostly talk about how this thing is amazing and they show few brolls where it handles the given job and thats it. I would recommend you working on your thumbnails and not spending a minute of your video to do shoutouts to other youtubers. You have a great content though, good work. Subbed. P.s. i found this video when i tried to find out if the thing works without RS2 if you connect to it with only hdmi cabel. Still can't find the answer, any luck that you know the answer? :)

    Appreciate the additional information. Currently looking at the Ronnin S2, but not sure if I need the spend the extra $!for the raven-eye. Kudos for filming with the wife and daughter (not always easy). I ride the OneWheel XR which frees up my hands. Still waiting n the fence but thinking I probably don’t need to spend the extra $ for the raven eye. Think the gimbal alone will get the job done for me. Thanks again. 👍👍👍

    Hey Lamar, Thanks for such a realistic video. Really got to know the good and also the not so good things about the product. My sense why it looses you during running 🏃‍♂️ while not the runner in Pete’s video is possibly because if I remember right , the camera in that video was possibly being maintained parallel to the runner. How are you enjoying your RS2 since your video. Are you planning to upgrade to RS3? Love to know what you think.

    It looks to me like speed of movement isnt a problem, but its sudden acceleration that causes the raven eye to lose its target. I have one and Ive tested this too, and it can track as fast as you can go if you start slow, but if you go from a stop to a fast take off, it almost always loses you. hope that helps

    Great question. At this point I wouldn't trust laving it alone without someone to monitor and make sure it's tracking but if I had a shooter that could montier and make sure its framed up I'd def use it at a wedding for tight ceremony shots of the bride and groom. As for now it's great for walking talking head stuff I think. Thanks for the question!

    great video, I'm wanting something to track me instead of throwing my camera on a tripod and getting a really static shot. I feel you on that! Both are amazing options. But if you not running fast or doing anything super quick the Raven eye would be perfect for you. But on the another hand I agree with ya on saving some cash and just grab the SC. I’d go RS2 just because it holds a heavy camera and it’s easier to balance but I’m the worst ronin balancer in the world. Thanks for watching!
