Two really good Pocket Cameras.. Which one would you get ? DJI Pocket 3 or Insta360 X3?

Another best feature of the pocket3 is the night image quality, it's a low light beast!

But in terms of image quality the pocket3 is on the next level, I think the pocket3 is small vlogging camera with the best image quality at the moment

I have both, and I use the Insta360 for driving shots or time lapse walking shots, whereas the DJI Osmo pocket three is my go to Vlog camera now

I have both the X3 and pocket 3. Combined with my mini 3 pro drone (upgrading soon), it’s a great setup for capturing fantastic memories when we travel. Small, light setup that fits in an easy to carry shoulder bag or small backpack. These 3 amigos provide a huge variety of filming options and footage. For less money than a decent DSLR, I have everything I need to capture everything from every angle I may possibly need..

I agree. X3 + some camera with good quality is great setup. X3 offer capturing shots that are not possible using other cameras. When capturing standard POV then better use other cams with better quality.

Honestly, the 360 is selling me atm. I'm going to Japan in June and i honestly want to show the environment vs my face

I personally thing the Pocket 3 has better video quality especially when you add ND filters, but that is me and I like to plan a shoot so not bothered about the flexibility of the X3, but as I said that is just me.

Very good video! I have both and they are very good compliments to each other. The Pocket 3 is a handy substitute for my Sony A7 Siii on a DJI RS-3 whenever I want to travel lightly. The X3 gives perspectives you can't get any other way, although I would recommend getting the extra long 3 meter selfie stick for the best drone substitute shots. Because the X3 only provides 1080p edited video, I've been using Topaz Video AI to upscale to 4k to match my other video. I'm very happy with this workflow.

Nobody talks about the ability to film in 1:1 ratio with the Pocket 3 which uses the full sensor. That gives you the choice of changing the aspect ratio to horizontal or vertical in editing much like using the 8x7 ratio with a GoPro.

I have the Pocket 3, X3, and Mavic 3....dang thats a lot of 3s. I love them all and each of them have their place. X3 is great in bright conditions to capture everything and reframe later...whereas the Pocket 3 is freaken amazing in low light conditions with buttery smooth shots (the X3 will struggle here)....and obviously the Mavic 3 for those incredible shots where no other camera can go

I've iphone 13 mini & insta360 & I really want to buy the dji Pocket 3, but I feel like it's more of a want than a need. These reviews about the dji have me tempted. But I'm also thinking maybe I should use my iPhone more. Would you say the combo of iphone 13 mini for vlogging & insta360 for creative shooting are good enough combo? I really want the dji, but i also feel like im falling for this shiny object syndrome.

After your amazing review I'm inclined to Insta360 One X3.

What kind of memory cards are used in both cameras? Also, isnt it hard to update dji p3 due to not being able to use the app?

I ride an electric unicycle EUC so I want action with invisible selfie but also 360 to upload to Gmaps street view when riding remote trails. It's a late life crisis thing and will leave my mark on the planet for years after I've gone 😊. EUC is the most dangerous fun ever, loving it

How long have you owned it? Many creators felt the same way with it falling. I don't like the image of ones hand on a 360 view. The image quality is better on the pocket 3 but having 360 at a beach would be awesome. I think its important to cover the audio

Until you've used the x3. You will never fully appreciate how wonderful it is to use. No problems thinking about composing video.... you pick and choose it all later. While Ian talks about the 1m selfie stick. Where it comes into its own and is totally unique. Is when you use the 3 metre stick. The results are nothing short of astonishing.... what Ian didn't talk about is you can actually down load in 4k 30 from the app if you use story board mode or the Insta 360 Windows editor. The normal app resolution is as he pointed out 1080p in normal editing mode. But you don't have to use that if you want 4k output....

@realestatebynader Definitely.... the right side button allows you to cycle through front lens, selfie lens and 360 view...You can then select the ype of view you need, fisheye, linear, wide etc... Before I came to grips with the 360 mode and editing. All my video was basically front camera only which for all intents and purposes made it like the DJI....So I had the front lens on a pivot and the Insta 360 standing up lookiong forward. In 360 mode the camera should be more or less horizontal on the end of the stick with one lens pointing up and the other pointing down. Though there are use cases for it to be in any plane as it is easy to edit direction later. I often use it cable tied vertically standing in a back pack extending up over my head for a POV view and just left to record....

I just realised that, yes the DJI has a one inch sensor and you compared it to the x3. You didnt mention the Insta 360 1 inch camera...all the x3 does and its significantly better pq wise but not waterproof...

I think comparing these two cameras is not accurate. Same as comparing x3 with gopro or dji action. I have x3 and I use it as action camera (mostly on my bike in mixed conditions) but I would like to buy pocket 3. In my opinion pocket 3 could be really good camera for traveling as x3 also could be but difference here is the quality of the image. I like x3 possibilites like fix position of view in post production or filming myself with invisible stick but quality is not that good and also there are some noises and stretch of the image. I think if you do a lot of sports etc then you should think about dji action/gopro/insta360 action cams. If you do not need the best quality, want have fun, don't have experience making shots and you are careful than you can take x3. If you need good quality, filming yourself, making travel videos but not sports and you don't need APS-C then Pocket is great.

Getting the X4, Pocket 3 and already have Action 4.

They are both great. I'm taking them on my travels in the new year

Well, based on another of your videos, I purchased the Pocket 3. I do have a question. You mentioned that the Insta360 outputs a 1080P file, is that correct? Do you mean that you can't output 4K video from the Insta360? Thanks in advance!

Very true that the selfie stick becomes invisible, but then it looks a bit like you’ve just reluctantly scooped up dog crap and are looking for a bin 😂

X3 for full day vlogging... Pocket 3 for low light and night vlogging... Best combination!!

The Pocket 3 Is NOT an Action Camera bottom line it's for Indoors and Blogging LOL the Biggest thing you Did NOT Mention about the Pocket is the Low Light Capability that 1" Sensor is what trully sets it appart...

Same, its stuck at f.2 and cant change it (just remember that)

I own both cameras and the X3 is only any good on bright sunny days anything less and the footage is noisy and unusable.

if dji was waterproof ....

Great video. I have the x3 and found the software a bit difficult to use initially, but it doesn't take long to sus it out .

The biggest issue at the moment what ive seen on line is the breaking down of the screen mechanism on the Pocket 3. Im 50/50 now wether to get one in the new year.

Stupid comparison. Would have been better to use the Ace Pro in comparison with the Pocket 3.

The comparison with the Pocket 3 should have been with the Insta360 One RS with the 1 inch sensor. Closer in price too. Also fyi I played with the Pocket 3 at the DJI store in the mall today. It was cool but felt very fragile. I would be extremely careful using this camera.

I would pick the insta360 only as a travel camera and not being massively into video. I like the fact you can change view points as usually you struggle to capture everything, this way you get another chance.

Very difficult decision!! Question for me is which do you prefer @dmproductions
