Thanks to you for this tutorial. I crashed my P3-A pretty hard in a parking lot and it broke the Yaw arm where it attaches to the motor shaft in the upper main circuit board. I also bent the roll arm and compromised the motor so it had a slight wiggle. I found an online DJI parts supplier for the Yaw arm, Roll arm with motor and a new ribbon cable. Your video was very helpful for disassembly as well as reassembly. About the only thing I did differently was getting the camera reattached to the ribbon cable. I had a hard time with your instructions, that ribbon cable has to be wound around the camera spindle 2 times and then to slide in the connector to the circuit board at the back of the camera. I decided it was easier to remove the 4 black screws that hold the circuit board in the back of the camera to get a better position to insert the end of the ribbon cable. Once I locked the cable in place I fit the circuit board back in and put the 4 black screws in place. Then I used a soft stylus to push down the sticky part of the ribbon cable to hold it in place. Other then that your instructions were pretty straight forward. I would suggest those who attempt this make notes if they aren't sure of how the unattach the parts and screws and put each component and it's screws is separate small dishes to keep everything separate. Take your time and make sure each part fits securely and parts move freely. Sometimes after a hard crash some metal parts may be slightly compromised as was my case. In the end with the parts I had to buy I wouldn't have spent much more for a per-assembled new replacement gimbal and camera but I had fun doing it myself. Thanks again!

I did a little weed whacking with my P3A. Of course the gimbal ejected. No matter how hard I tried I could not get that thing to orient. And once I did it simply would not stay onto the housing. I watched the video where you applied epoxy and how to recenter that gimbal shaft. As luck would have it I had the same epoxy you had. Holding my breath I put the epoxy in the area shown in your video and made sure the shaft was aligned with with the plane of the camera housing. I put it together and waited a half hour. Holding my breath I powered up the drone. Guess what? Problem fixed. The camera is working just perfectly. I thought that maybe I'd have to replace the flex cable/ribbon but that was not necessary. Thanks to you I fixed my drone in about 45 min. Thanks so much. Mark Jester

Many thanks for a top video. Without this I would have had to buy another camera - Actual camera on mine was impacted when a prop came off at about 4 metres. The screw (at 16:47 in your video) holding the camera to the motor shaft had been knocked loose and the whole Gimble would just shake when powered up with the "motor overload" message. I just semi stripped and removed the cable from the Camera CCD, moved aside the coiled ribbon cable and tightened it. Again many thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.

I'm having an issue with my gimbal on my p3se. It flops around and or goes limp. Now I didn't crash it. It was fine for 5 months and now it's Broken out of nowhere. I had the xk detect x380 n hubs an h501s for 2 years no issues. My girl buys me NY dream drone this Xmas n it broke on its own after 5 months. My heart is broken!!! I hope this video helps me fix it. Awesome instructional video mate, I followed along and replaced a broken yaw arm along with the flex cable, it's all went well except upon starting up the drone now the camera and gimbal rotates and spins way out of control until I remove the battery! Have you ever had one not work after the ribbon replacement? Gimbal action works perfectly. I just have no camera feed, no camera settings/options and its showing SD car at 0, tried to check all the connections and everything seems ok

I've experienced a few hits but so far I've only managed to break one of the tabs on the Gimbal mounting plate. I'm not sure why but my P3 standard doesn't do well around trees. I got under a large oak, seemed to drifted uncontrollably towards it and loose its GPS signal then drop like a rock.

I’ve got the same issue with the motor needing to be glued with epoxy. I bought it damaged and couldn’t work out how to lock it in. Now I know but I’m still surprised DJI would have glued the motors in like that

How do you pull the part of the roll motor with the magnets away from the part with the coils?

I really like this video it has helped me get my cable replaced. I ran into one problem. at the 10:45 mark in your video the part of the cable that you pull out I am having issues getting the ribbon and the part that locks it into place to fit all together. Is there a ticket to get this part of the cable locked in and the little plastic piece to lock down? When I removed the cable the little plastic lock down part popped out. I am having a hard time getting it to pop back into place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At the 9:15 mark you mention the motor that has separated has a magnetic lock. I have the same problem with my motor being separated. Can I just simply push it back together and it will stay. I see no way to secure it. Thanks for your video.

Unrelated question. I have a P3 Advanced and I need to replace the OFDM receiver module (part 35) I did a bit of research and it appears there are 2 versions of the part. What is the difference? I recently bought an ESC main board from DJI and they told me I needed version 2 of that part. Any help would be appreciated!

hey!! yes it was the circuit board for the camera i tried everything calling dji and they said they dont make those parts anymore. I went on ebay and bought the whole new camera with board and gimbal for 275.. are you having similar issues,

Thanks for the great video!! Before and after I successfully replaced the cable, the yaw arm was rubbing on the plastic insert base plate. The gimbal hit the top of a metal sign and cut the ribbon that is exposed on the very bottom of the pitch motor. The yaw arm is rubbing very slightly but enough to hinder the normal "follow" yaw movement. If I remove the plastic insert base plate then it works perfectly. Is there something I can do to increase the gap (just need about 1/32" between the arm and the plate? I tried sanding sown the base insert plate but that did not help. Any help will be appreciated

I got it from www.atkdrones.com . Done make the same mistake I made. When I got it all back together, I had my camera flipped 180 degrees. Easy mistake to make.

Please help me with my DJI Phantom 3 issues. I crashed my drone last week and it does not have any broken pieces from outside. But when I try to turn it on, the camera makes the normal starting sound and kept clicking after that without completing the starting process. listen !!! do everything that this guy say, no shortcut deassamble the hole thing, however when you are coming to assamble it do it all the way around !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! start with the ribbon from camera not from main gimbal board !!! all the oriantation and everything he say is great info but to do it his way you need to know what you are doing !!!!!!!! if you will start from camera it would be much easier

I just fixed the gimbal on my Phantom 3 4K, and starting from the camera indeed works nicely. The trick is each of the motor boards allow you to do the assembly by flipping open the tiny cable latch, closing up the housing, *then* inserting the cable, and flipping the tiny cable latch back down from outside, using a flat-bladed screwdriver.

i have phantom 2 vision plus ...it has got crashed ..they r saying it wont work anymore and their is no gimbal and camera sold in any store or online shop...if its der aLSO ITS more price ...cant we install h3- 3d gimbal? or anytng tat we can install instead.. any one can suggest me to do what ...please..

So the replacement cable for phantom professional is also compatible with phantom standard?

Hi. My drone Phantom 3 Pro. My drone first ribbon code P01107.09 - AKM 1532. I bought a new ribbon but the Gimbal works but camera does't display. Product code on new ribbon: P01107.08 - KW 1924. Could this be a problem of this incompatibility? Thanks

Tarık Şişbacak I bought a cable too, hooked connected it, got a visual but that's it. I can't move the gimble or anything else.

I crashed my DJI advanced. The gimbals were destroyed, but I think the camera may still be good. QUESTION: Does anyone know if the camera can somehow be used for other applications - apart from the drone? Can the camera be uses as a dash camera? Can it be used as a home or business security camera? I'll post (or try to post) my question to some other accounts hoping for an answer. Thank you.

Flat cable damaged that motherboard on the gimbal. I cant seem to find a spare one, the only ones I can see is for the adv or pro model. I have a dji phantom 3 4k version. Any one know where I can find one? Or do I have to buy the hole gimbal rig?

I only needed to get the flat cable. I thought at first the motherboard for the gimbal was fried but turned out it wasnt. I got the flat cabel from a online store in my region that sell drone stuff. Try to look for a local shop near you. Otherwise amazan or ebay would be a good alternative to look at. :)

+Mateo Jimenez The 4k part of the camera is actually the main gimbal board only. The cameras are identical. If you switch out the advanced gimbal board with a professional one, it will make your camera be 4k capable.

+Jay Sottolano well whenever I swop the main board between a 4K and advanced gimbal, I just swap the board with the yaw motor and the aluminium frame with the heat sinks. It's much easier than removing the board. I'm not sure how many people actually just move the board without the casing. The aluminium plate that holds the board almost never has damage to it. But you do have a point! The fan is also a difference between the 2.

I wish the firmware would just support both cameras... instead of having one fw for 4k and one for 2.7.. Would be nice if the FW just recognized what was there and acted accordingly.

I appreciate your video and the time you took making it, but half way through I had to stop the video. I can't see what you're doing.

I don't think I'm ever going to buy DGI again this is only 4 flights and their firmware made my brand new $1,300 piece of junk crash it kind of sad next time I build a quad from scratch the way that that wire goes around the camera is really ghetto
